You only take what the media shows you and try to judge what you have no direct experience with. What Rev. Wright has said about America and it's racist roots, still very much so alive today is fact whether you want to admit it or not. I actually DID watch the entire sermon and nothing he said before or after his comments change the meaning of the words "GD America." I was hoping they would, but if anything, his entire sermon reinforces the idea that he hates his country.
Having said that, the fact that you know him personally hardly makes you an unbiased and therefore reliable source of information about the man. I see what I see and the words speak for themselves.

A great volume of good work accomplished by an organization is easily negated in the eyes of the world by the careless actions,words,& attitudes of individuals. Trinity is a case in point. Jesus taught us that the condition of our hearts is more important than our actions. But on balance, I would say that the service performed by good hearted members of Trinity is not undone by the preacher's mean spiritedness.

My initial comments in this thread were a response to the implications you made about white culpability for your description of the black culture in america and for not helping in Africa. When this preacher says he understands why so many people are 'hatin on Barak (Hussein) Obama', we have to assume he is talking about those of us who are 100% opposed to an Obamanation. Then he talks about his complete opposition to a nation being run by 'rich white people.' If one is hate, then the other must be as well. And his comments were passionately hateful. Get a clue.

No, what I see is a simplified juvenile endorsement of a shallow critique that has no relationship with reality. People of all colors vote. Black politicians screw up just like pols of other colors. I would say color has less to do with our problems than does philosophy and political agenda. Your endorsement of Wright's racist rants is ludicrous. Me second response is, although I am opposed to Obama, I would never ever speak of him in the same manner this preacher speaks of my nation, of my government, or my leaders. I would never speak of leaders from his race like he speaks of leaders from my race. The man has no business in a pulpit of a christian church. Maybe thats where you are missing it. I listened to the entire speech. He speaks with hostility against people of color not his own. He damns the nation and he castigates people who are not poor and black. The nation in rubble? A bit dramatic. I have lived thru many downturns and market adjustments. It happens. The problem now is a combination of the price of oil and the demand for grains for alternative fuels that is driving up food prices, combined with bad lending practices by banks.

And as for your childish intimidation tactics. I grew up listening to MLK Jr., understood that what he was doing was both necessary and done correctly (PEACEFUL nonviolence). I have the ultimate respect for POSITIVE black leaders like Colin Powell, Condi, Bill Cosby, etc. But I have NO RESPECT for the spiteful, angry hostile voices like Jesse J, Al Sharpton, Wright, or any others of their ilk. IT wasnt one soundbite dude, it was a lot of sermons. I agree that there are a lot of good things the church has done that should not be diminished by fiery sermons.
But, when we are talking about the influence on a man who wants to be Pres., at such crucial time, we cant afford to take chances on loyalties. Priorities cant be race, racial issues are further down the list from defense etc.
And blacks sure dont mind reducing white remarks they get offended by to 'just a soundbite'!!
