A countdown clock for the green-light would be more effective than a camera. Make if visible, and perhaps, let the color of the #''s change when it's timing the yellow-light.

There's just too many cars on the road in the cities too not be a little brave when driving. If you don't have nuts in LA or NY or Boston, then you pretty much will not get anywhere, and p/o a lot of other drivers in the process. I find that the drivers who are overly safe actually CAUSE driving hazards!

The legislators are liars. The automobiles have already paid a tax on the fuel they use to get down the road on toll roads, so where has that money gone? Toll roads are double taxation: 1. Taxed on the fuel (road tax), 2. Taxed by toll.  Oops, don't forget the yearly tax on the license plate and the tax on the driver's license (every 4 or 5 years). Also, I believe the toll roads were initially paid for by tax money or hoped for tax money.

I wouldn't count on photo blocker spray. Most current digital technology will be able to counteract a polished tag. I waxed my tag when I waxed my motorcycle and then took a picture with my digital camera, in natural light and the digital camera corrected for the bright tag and could still clearly see the tag.

Actually I was thinking the same thing and took the picture around 20 feet angled from the right side. Actually the flash from the digital camera done it enough to slightly over expose and dimmed the surroundings and clearly seen the tag. I should try in a slightly darker situation and see what happens.

My 2 cents-if it doesn't work then how come most states have BANNED it ? And also if appears to work with plates that have the white phosphor paint and dark numerals-the colored background ones won't work. Also the ONLY ones posting vids are ones Cops were involved in like the newscasts. I personally used the stuff and have yet to get a letter in the mail and am unsure if the flash I saw was intended for my car when it happened (2 way street you see) so make of this what you will.

Supposedly for the life of the plate, but keep checking it to make sure it isnt dull looking, it works because it makes the plate very shiney. Also remember to keep the plate clean-meaning wipe it off before you drive into areas that have cameras. If you are going into unfamiliar areas, best to clean the plate before you start the car, takes 1 minute to do both plates. Dirt and dust accumulates after every drive esp in winter.

Here in Baltimore, the city goverment only get 25% of each ticket sent. Locheed Martin, the makes of the cameras, get's 75%, About safty my ass. Plus tolls are double taxation anyway. federal taxes are used to maintain all roads and bridges on the interstate sytem, plus the state has a gas tax that's used as well. If you can get away not paying the trolls under the bridge, I say do it.

Red light cameras, like most traffic enforcement, don't have anything to do with traffic *safety*, it's about revenue generation. The cameras are typically placed at busy intersections with low yellow light times, not at intersections with a high rate of accidents. Speaking of accidents, the cameras make for MORE rear end collisions as people slam on their breaks.

Increasing yellow light times are a far more effective solution than cameras - but then they couldn't write $300 tickets.
