The best and the brightest will educate themselves with or without a college degree. If you're not intelligent you should go to College because it requires intellect to find success without a College degree. Perhaps an unconventional outlook, but this is 2012, any information you can obtain from a teacher, I can obtain with two clicks of a mouse, without the bias, bullshit, and without paying thousands of dollars for it.
@12Ominous a degree isn't so much +5 to you INT stat, as much as its proof you have the ability to learn, and the drive to finish something. which is arguably more important to employers than pirating education.
@n00btube87 It proves you have work ethic, the ability to stay the course (four years is a long time) and are subservient and there for not arrogant. True and true. My outlook is more of an entrepreneurial outlook than a get a job outlook, it's not very effective if you're looking for employment.
I don't think we can afford not to educate our best and brightest.
If we only "educate" those who can afford to buy their diplomas and degrees, we will end up with knuckledragging mouthbreathers running this country and destroying it in the process.
If your aren't gifted to understand simple things like the sunrise and sunset, or how tides work, than you should probably not waste your money on college. You should pass basic education first
He said at about 1:00, without going to college you can work "marginal" jobs earning 40-50 thousand dollars (a year I assume). I've just never heard of earnings that high right out of high school.
Bill is spot on. I am tired of the level of academic rigor in colleges being dragged down in order to accommodate lowest common denominator because these days everyone thinks they should go to college. Stupid people don't belong in college...it's that simple.
Education is and should be promoted as the basis for humanity, so this is technically the worst opinion I've heard.
Think about it. The more we educate ourselves, the more we learn to APPRECIATE the vast variety of talents and effort behind "alternative" goals. Otherwise, people can just continue being the ignorant, selfish morons they are - leaving the idea of altruism to continue ruining society.
@Tanksareforcowards Quite the opposite. Unless you are truly motivated and have a firm foundation in education you should not go to college. College has become extremely expensive and you become a slave to the system since filing bankruptcy on a student loan will destroy you.
@ihavemonkeysinmybutt Quite the opposite, except I also don't think it should be extremely expensive. I don't think students should have to take out loans to afford it.
I totally agree, everyone should go to college and even if it is difficult, go part time and get help with your studies. In order to get a good job these days, and good pay, a college degree is prefer by employers and the job market is now competitive.
@BUDx2 lol sure.. he believes in an invisible man that loves in the sky who literally sent his only son down to earth (his actually himself) and then sacrifices himself to himself, and then comes back to life 3 days later...
will am going to film school so i dont see the need for the college though i want the expirence yet i know i wont have the right degree to get me in there :( screw it i'll just have to deal with my mom god no new ps3 for the summer i guess :@
@lostprophet912 lol ikr, im thinking if you dont go to college you get more like 15-30k a year. Ik teachers with 4 years degrees at my school start at 33k a year.
@SpasticatedCunt .. because he is paid by Fox News and he gives them something that fits their program. That's what people will tune in for on both sides: Close-minded, conservative, religous right-wing nuts get what they want to hear and left-wingers get stuff to be upset about, which is basically free promotion for him while the reasonable parts go by unnoticed. The internet is where he does not have to worry about the network and ratings. I actually like watching him like this a lot.
The national average income is in the mid 30's, so 40 or 50k isn't bad, most high school students can graduated high school and go right into the work force and with a little hard work can climb up the ladder at most companies and easily make 40 or 50k in their late 20's (that's just a few years off when most college grads finish and start of making the same thing). Remember only 27% of Americans have a bachelors degree.
You do understand that there are colleges that specialise in Music and Arts. Nowadays there is a course for just about every single thing in the world, so you can't really say that you shouldn't go just because you like music. But obviously college doesn't make you smart (look at you Bill, that just proves it)
everyone has a talent... Billo, for instance, is exceptionally skilled at pissing people off (and nothing else), and he made a lucrative career out of it...
Is this guy saying that the income of marginal jobs is in the range of 40-50 thousand a year? Um, no. Simply false and ignorant statement by a fat cat.
@someguyoutthere110 If you honestly believe that, then you are even more close-minded than he is sometimes. He certainly is very intelligent and he does not get nearly as much credit for it as he deserves, simply because he is on the worst, most biased news channel ever. He has beliefs and views that I disagree with strongly, but the important thing is not to judge too quickly, like I did when I first heard of him through The Daily Show, Letterman, etc.
@VAswang Even worse, 50 is the avg household income....husband and wife combined. Avg individual income is 25K. Im a big fan of O'reilly but his comments here annoy me.
