Folks, please understand that Volts aren't what kill you.. Amperage is. You could have 20billion volts coursing through your body and live at low enough amperages.

1 volt of electricity at high enough amperage can also kill you.

The capacitor in these cameras isn't large enough physically to hold enough charge to do any permanent damage. The large kind used in professional car stereo installations (the size of a soda can or so) can DEFINITELY hurt/kill/burn you.

you have to remove the batteriy first ... then when you open the camera, you have to discharge the capacitor with a screwdrive (its a black tube with white printings on it)

then, you can't get shocked until you put in the battery again.

When I built this for the first time,, I used both hands to try to remove something and then all the charged voltage went from one hand, through that chest, and out the other. You can't really tell you were in pain, but it felt like I was falling really fast and I yelled and had no idea why. You just need a circuit that could quickly charge the high power capacitor, the camera circuit provides that. If you want, you can make your own circuit, which may take an even lesser time to charge the capacitor, that way you can give quick multiple shocks.
