Usually the dog has to believe the cat is his equal or superior in the pack/family. The same goes for small children. This dog knows the rules and his place, it seems. He's awesome, but people should know all the animals, and kids, should be supervised when together. I love this video.

If he wouldn't eat that cat I doubt he'd eat your children lol. Dogs, especially one that size, need exercise discipline and lots of affection(in that order). Teach your children to be respectful of their pets and you won't have any problems.
