@bassman499 yeah MTD basses are good, except for the electronics. if you want too get the best out of it, you have too pay a extra 500 dollar... bit of a shame they don't come with standard bartolini pick ups and a aguilar pre-amp..

Great playing, tone & bass! The Z5s were on my "Short List" of basses when I upgraded, but the full 19mm string-spacing is just a little too tight for me, plus I prefer the wood combos of what I got. I've ended up alternating on my 5s between the 16.5mm of my Spector Euro Bolt-Ons, 17.5 of my Music Man SUB 5, and 18mm of my Mike Lull Modern 5.

It pays off to replace the electronics though.

@DuxJerome I just bought the KZ5 and wondered what you ment about pickup electronics replacements. Will EMG's fit in it or Bartolini's? I would like to know what you suggest for my $1,200 purchase upgrade?

@Ikillpeopleforfree I didnt replace the electronics. Like my basses original. I played a modified z5 and it just sounded better. Cant remember the pickup and preamp replacement brand.

Look on Youtube for MTD KZ6 TEST. This guy replaced a Z6 with different electronics.

Maybe ask him.
