I think Dr henry is a good man. I just felt very threatened by his aggressive bodylanguage/gesture when we had a difference of opinion. I wish I had attended the open forum. It sounds very productive, yet a friendly space. In many ways I identify with black people. Please do not get the wrong idea about Goldsmiths. Normally the academics were respectful towards me and I am proud to have gone there. I learnt much about black history, though Irish oppression by the British was ignored.

When I asked his advice about my dissertation, he told me that he was a black belt, though there was no actual physical contact on his part, luckily for him as I would have needed to defend my self! He said I was being selfish, which was funny. He also refused to discuss the matter with me further. Another sociology academic scared me out of taking the matter further.

I was very vulnerable at the time. At least he did not get a better degree than me. I still think Goldsmiths is quality.

I think what Dr Henry is saying is very interesting, In fact, he was my Sociology lecturer at Goldsmiths College two or three years ago. Ironically, I had a difference of opinion with him that helped me feel very small indeed.
