I've always wondered what the fuck in in a siren that makes them sound the way the do and are so fuckin loud. Is like a fan or something? When i was 5 i was outside and didnt know that they were going do a test. Frickin thing goes off and i lived maybe 400 yards away at the very most and that frickin thing went off i hauled ass inside because it hurt my ears and spooked me.

@Ratkill9000 These type of sirens are mechanical. They have chopper blades that are behind the stator which are shaped to make sound as the chopper spins. The faster it spins, the louder and higher pitch it gets.

@rnbsteenstar I would have recommended them T-128s actually. Canton was lucky cause they switched from half 1003s and half SRNBs into T-128s.

The new 130s have that problem. It's really too bad. The older 2001s sounded great. But these seem to have problems. They still sound fine, but federal signal needs to fix that problem.

You can hear the pitch problems very clearly hear, but it doesn't sound that bad.

This siren's attack timer is off. It winds up and down for longer periods of time at the beginning of the video and shorter at the end. This siren also has the pitch change. You can hear it at different points of the video. Great Vid btw.

its in attack mode. fyi they dont put it on attack mode for tornado warnings. they put it on alert mode.

when it first started up for the test i was thinking that it sounded like a nuke siren then i was like....is there a fire somewhere or a nuke coming or a tornado :/

nice video, as always! at first it was takeing the 2001-130 10 sec to wind down and then into the test it was winding down like it normaly would. thats wierd.

me personally i hate the 130s kind of because they replaced the thunderbolts, the TB was the BEST siren ever. we have one right next door to my house in Jackson MI and it isn't even as loud as the old thunder bolt we had. that and these look really faggish. just saying...

I can hear a click before the siren begins to spin. At one point, the siren spun faster than normal near the beginning of the video.

I noticed that..it seems that when the chopper is winding down, it rotates faster.

My thought is that maybe the rotator motor gets a power jolt when the chopper motor winds down.

As awesome as this siren is, it does get a tad monotonous. I heard other 2001's in the distance as well. Where are they and what old sirens did it replace.
