This may be off topic but the atmosphere is only composed of .038% CO2 and out of that tiny amount humans are responsible for 3.2%. Is it possible that our CO2 emissions are responsible for global warming/climate change?

I do believe it is the responsibility of humans to take care of their immediate environment. That means clean air, clean water, etc.

Well Jesus never said go door to door or house to house, so I guess if you can add that then I can add cleaning the environment. The question is more so about how much do you believe the end is here, because if you believed it was that close you would be readying the enviornment for when you inherit the earth. Until I see that, I guess you don't believe as much as you say you do.

I think the real answer is not that the governing body is against cleaning up the environment, but they want Witnesses to give all their time and money to the Watchtower. The same goes for charity.

The question kind of alludes to how much faith you have that the end is coming. For instance are you so sure it's going to happen you're willing to not save for retirement? Are you willing to sell your house? If there's really going to be a paradise Earth that you're going to live on, are you so confident the end is close you're willing to start the clean-up now?

The Earth heals itself...hurricanes volcanoes etc. Anything man does on his own can be undone by nature. Given the state of the world, its all about to get wrapped up soon enough. Look at it this way, if you live forever, you have a lot of time to clean up. So what's the rush?

I don't know about anything, it doesn't seem the ozone layer is really repairing itself. Plus strip-mining just depletes the minerals and can cause havok on the ground. I think it would be more a sign of faith that the end is going to happen, it's real to you if you're already cleaning up the earth. I mean you're going to have all those resurrectees to be preaching to right?

Preaching, cleaning, eating, sleeping, preaching, sleeping, and cleaning. It's faith until it happens, then it is history. Does not the Bible say something along the lines of bringing an end to those destroying the earth? So, when we stop relying on fossil fuels, would that not be what happens? I don't think strip mining causes earthquakes and tsunamis, or volcanoes though. What I am saying is the earth can wipe out a good number of "cancerous" humans with some good old natural disasters.

You're right strip mining doesn't cause any of those things, I couldn't think of the word for sink-holes at the time of comment. It's one of those things you can have faith Jesus is going to return by preaching till he arrives, or you can have so much faith he's going to return you buy him a house to stay in. That's what I mean about unyielding faith, faith so strong you start the clean up work now since you believe the end is so close. I do understand your point though.

Dood the earth's already buggered beyond repair. A true christian would want to stay away from supporting destructive organisations or companies that take part in the destruction of the earth. The work of helping people learn about Jehovah is more important than cleaning up someone elses mess when Jehovah's going to do that anyway. But lets face it... can you call yourself a christian if you're drilling for oil? managing a Nike sweatshop? encouraging irresponsible consumption? Nah-uh.

because the truth of the matter is it's corporations and political policy which is destroying the earth... and until something is done about those 'mountains' of institutions, it'd be like trying to clean the freeway with a toothbrush at rush hour. When something is done about them, by God I believe, then we'll all get to muck together and fix things up.

Ah, there's a great saying that it takes a group of people to start a political process but only one to start a revolution. Anyone can change the way things are done, they just have to be devoted enough. But regardless if someone sincerely believes the end is right around the corner and they're going into paradise wouldn't they start the cleaning early, I mean that's showing real faith.

To all of you who read and actually comprehend the bible, not only does God say he will never again strike the whole earth a blow, he also say's that he will not allown man to ruin the earth, in another passage it mentions the fight not being yours but Gods, so some things are left to God to sort out. if any of you have been to Bethel you can testify that is by far one of the cleanest most ecological friendly places in NY, if not the world.

If you think about this question it actually goes pretty deep and asks mainly how much faith you have that the end is really right around the corner. If you had such faith maybe you'd be doing more to clean up the environment now because the end is any day now, right?

What I am saying here is that if you have faith that the end is close to which the literature certainly says it is, why not clean up the environment. There will certainly be enough things to do after armageddon without having to clean up the environment. I feel setting up earth clean ups would be showing greater faith in the end being near than not cleaning.
