you are right to think this is shifty, their interpretation of the bill is much over blown. It is up to OCIA to certify organics. Therefore OCIA ,a government agency, determines what constitutes "organic" -what you can feed an organic animal to get it certified as organic- then you have to prove to the certifying agency that you actually did what you were supposed to.

Get your facts straight rabble rousers. The final Senate bill included an amendment introduced 3 months ago, authored by Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont. It exempts farms with sales of less than $500,000 a year from the new food safety requirements if they sell most of their food directly to in-state consumers, or to consumers within a 275-mile radius of the farm. This whole issue about small organic farms is moot. For chrissake.

I'd love it if my mom would be able to buy our groceries at Whole Foods or whatever but the fact is it's hard enough spending over a hundred dollars on groceries and not getting everything you need. The issue that should be addressed is how to make it affordable for those of us that want to eat properly. @mywgac10 it is extremely difficult if not impossible for a supplement company to improve on God's creations, I found this out myself, but only after my budget required myself to think creatively to not starve. for instance, even if they don't use magnesium stearate or titanium dioxide, they will need to discard the juice to get to the extract, to make it last long enough to sell.

You have clearly not educated yourself about this issue. We do not grow "better" food. Conventionally-grown produce is not as nutritious and is sprayed with chemicals, which are often found to be carcinogenic. If we're all eating "better food" today, why has our incidence of disease risen so much as compared to only 50 years ago? Good nutrition is the foundation for good health; we are what we eat. Feel free to eat inferior foods, but I will not partake.

Watch, "Food Inc." Watch "The World According to Monsanto" as well as "The Beautiful Truth" do some research. Don't just dismiss things as either safe or unsafe or foolish by not actually looking into things.
There are a lot more places and things you can look into in regard to food as well. "Codex Alimentarius" is also something to look up. Then look at things like NAFTA, GAT, SPP read the documents.

you are right to think this is shifty, their interpretation of the bill is much over blown. It is up to OCIA to certify organics. Therefore OCIA ,a government agency, determines what constitutes "organic" -what you can feed an organic animal to get it certified as organic- then you have to prove to the certifying agency that you actually did what you were supposed to.
the government has always told all organic farmers what they can and can't do , this is nothing new

Just because someone buys a desk and sits behind it does not make them a journalist. She claims Obama was pushing the bill; since he never once made a statement about it, I'd like to know her source. And it is now a year since she claimed this bill would be passed in 2 weeks.

hoax? think again! just google : "codex alimentarius entry into force" , first entry and see for yourself! check out the entry into force clause. although a "recommendation" it has an entry into force clause, which means that once the threshold is reached, it comes into force or is BINDING on the signatories.

@Phanty185 , did you actually READ the entry youi told everyone to read? the term 'ENTRY INTO FORCE' is mentioned ONCE, where it is defined. the definition? 'Entry into force: The date on which the provisions of the agreement enter into force.' the entire page you told people to read is a guideline for countries to form VOLUNTARY agreements. and 'entry into force ' simply means the date the voluntary agreement between 2 countries begins. Learn to read before you make yourself sound foolish.

The real threat right now is S.510, the FDA Modernization Act. The two bills mentioned in this video, HR 875 and S 425 never made it out of committee. But S 510 does pose a threat and the Senate is expected to vote on it early next year.
Please call your Senators today and urge them to exempt small farms & food processors from S.510, to protect both the farmers and the consumers who want access to local foods.

Although there may be short term value in nonorganic farming, the long term effects will be detrimental to resource access especially in regards to water access. GMO's as well as mass produced seeds will require tremendous care and large amounts of water. Also, diversity will decrease irreparably. THIS IS A TERRIBLE BILL AND IF IT PASSES WE WILL SEE UNBELIEVABLY SCARY OUTCOMES ON THE ECONOMY, ENVIRONMENT AND HUMAN POPULATION!!!!!
