This is the reason why you don't have the right to any of these things. "..government based.. will of people.. expressed in elections." Does this mean that if the majority does not vote, they do not consent?
I can't understand the concept of human 'rights'. They are no more than a wish list. The 10 Commandments and Christ's Eight Beatitudes are far superior and make more sense.
For one thing, they command an active subject, whereas the Human Rights only speak about a passive receiver; but what if no one is able or willing to deliver? The Christian approach is the correct approach and the one on which Governments should base their policies.

I can help but be skeptical of self proclaimed " human rights" activists. They are famed for their hypocrisy and selective judgement. For example, they are outraged when Saddam Hussein suppresses the Kurds yet they are not bothered the slightest when hearing that 567,000 Iraqi children have died as a result of sanctions. They really don't care about whether or not innocent people live or die. All they care is that democracy prevails, and that alone justifies all brutalities.

looks like free market economies, neo liberalisation and democracy will stay, until replaced by a better order, inspite of exploitation of large sections of people in world, until their is a better order - if their is one, don't think so because world is divided, don't think anyone will return to communism. been there didn't work, especially when people are asking for greater autonomis and more federal powers than dictatorships and national govts.

this is a well written document and covers human, social, political, economocal rights etc. which people of all shades and opinions should read. It is a document which was meant to shape a better world, drafted in 1948, at the time of decolonisation (imperialism), end of facism in europe. though a supporter of trade unionism and workers right, doesn't support the dictatorship of working class - their are minorities remember, it covers them too.

Interestingly enough, generally the more that leaders talk about how they're so passionate about "serving God", the more likely that rights in this declaration are loathed by them (the Middle-East, Italy, evangelical Christians such as George W. Bush...etc.).

Equal treatment (regardless of race or religion), freedom of movement, freedom from arbitrary arrest, imprisonment and torture, equal treatment before the law, freedom to travel, freedom to enjoy property without interference, freedom to make a living, and the right of refugees to return are all denied to Palestinians. House demolitions/Israeli settlements, checkpoints, 11000 Palestinian prisoners, collective punishment etc

starting from around Article 23 the whole thing turned from a statement of basic Liberty into one of those Social Liberal schemes: saying everyone is entitled to wages that can support their family, everyone should be entitled to adequate housing and food, etc. this is not right.

Since trade unions are so often necessary to protect workers from employers the right to join a trade union should be a human right. You don't have to join a union but you have the right to if needed.

"Right to food, clothing, medical care, education.." You don't have the right to force other people to serve you at gunpoint. You don't have the right to violently extort the labor of others. This is the reason why you don't have the right to any of these things. Furthermore, there is a blatant contradiction between compulsory education and the abolition of slavery, and the "right" to "free" education is a "right" which contradicts basic economic law.

A common neoliberal argument, but your basic premise is rejected by broad international agreement, which is that everyone has the right to a social order that helps realise these economic and social rights (UDHR article28). Some communal provision for the good of all may not be neoliberal 'economic law' but it is the basis, for example of family life.

The "right" to social security is inconsistent with the right to property and the abolition of involuntary servitude. These "rights" can not logically coexist. You don't have the "right" to employment. Nobody owes you a salary for existing. Many labor standards nullify the right to contract. If bob agrees to work for George under minimum wage, then they have both made a mutually beneficial trade that is no one else's business. A "right to holidays" assumes the absence of a right to contract.

"Everyone has the right to life, liberty, and security of person." Can someone please explain to me what the hell "security of person" means? "No one shall be held in slavery or servitude." This means, no income tax, or military conscription. Both are involuntary servitude. "No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his or her property." That means no taxation. "..government based.. will of people.. expressed in elections." Does this mean that if the majority does not vote, they do not consent?

I can't understand the concept of human 'rights'. They are no more than a wish list. The 10 Commandments and Christ's Eight Beatitudes are far superior and make more sense.
For one thing, they command an active subject, whereas the Human Rights only speak about a passive receiver; but what if no one is able or willing to deliver? The Christian approach is the correct approach and the one on which Governments should base their policies.

People are not dependent on governments b/c they can keep to a nationality that allows them freedom. One of the last articles IS about social responsibility, so id DOES promote a sharing society.
And as far as Christianity goes, If it's truth you seek, don't read a book that beats around the bush. Get direct answers to your questions from fellow man. Not cryptic writings proven to be mostly based on crowd control and subject subservience.

Well, I'm an ex-Roman catholic and All I remember is a religion based on having "God" sort it out for you in the end. I'm also an ex atheist b/c it helped me grow intelligence. Then I became a researcher and a scientist when it came to who I am, who we are, and why we are here. Sounds like I went from putting it all on god to taking responsibility. I think it is counter-productive to go back to religious dogma in light of my own hard-earned exploration.

I've read one of those catholic newspapers and all it did was try to scare me into becoming a catholic using hell as the threat.
And while we're at it, the elites are all christian, jewish and muslim. Why? b/c they're refered to as the 3 main religions (Even though Bhuddism and Hinduism are older and have millions of followers). It all comes down to their war for land and oil and ultimately the world and all the human minds.

I agree, Let's look at WHY USA went to war. A bunch of oil tycoons bought their way through our government and sent OUR PEOPLE to war b/c Our Officials COULD be bought in the first place.
If our officials and voted-in Representatives held law above profit, this wouldn't be a problem. We MUST change AS INDIVIDUALS and take responsibility to protect our government by condemning criminals, especially those that use the system for evil gains.

In the past AI used to work just fine, putting pressure on some countries, now they just give " recommendations" if you want to give us a speech about human rights don't show us images of people from other countries, but also show pictures of american and british soldiers beating and humiliating iraki people inside of Guantanamo bay.
