@TheThirdShift Thanks Im reading Game of thrones and have bought the hunger games so ill get round to it ...i have the summer cant wait till the end of June when my exams are over :) love the vids xx
Hey, In one of your videos you said u enjoyed The Hunger Games. I read the trilogy and absolutely loved it. The Maze Runner is a book that in my opinion is almost just as good. You should check it out :)
You should consider reading The Gargoyle! It's a book I'm reading right now and it's truly interesting. Just briefly I'll explain. The story is about a burn victim who meets his true love in a psych ward. She remembers clearly there past life in the thirteen hundreds and explains it to him. She was also a nun living in a monastery. Her life and his really intertwine together. The book reference's Dante's inferno a lot. It's so good, I think you'd love it Julia. Maybe you already read it? :)
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this because I I don't want to look through all the responses but I am reading a book series called "Thirst" by Christopher Pike. I used to read Christopher Pike when I was a teenager and he writes young adult fiction. I am about 3/4 way through the book and I love it so far it isn't fantasy exactly but it does have vampires in it and has a very interesting storyline so far. You might like it too!
If you want something fantastical, the Nightside series by Simon Green is amazing and the full series is available. It's about a private eye who works in a secret supernatural city within london. It's not in typical privet eye style though (I'm not into detective stories). It is adult fiction and definately worth a read, the first is called "something from the nightside". I am about half way through the series and totally adicted to it.
The immortal instruments are pretty awesome ^_^ I love them soo much! Another author I really enjoy is Maria V Snyder and her Poison study series she also did a follow up series based on a minor character from the first series and its is Fantastic. I'd really recommend checking them out ^_^
I'm currently reading the Vladimir Todd series, finishing the 4th book and going to the last. It's young adult and it's about vampires but I really like it, has become one of my favorites.
"What is suitable reading for a 30yo?"For me it's the same, too =) I guess that as we were young it was partly for wanting to think of ourselves as older, more mature, to be able to understand all that "heavy" litterature. And now as we're "old", we can have back some of that youth magic by reading fantasy litterature/ watching animations etc. My friend even had a cosplay birthday for her 30th birthday =) These LitChats are great, thanks so much for doing them!
In the little book store in my mall the "young adult / Teen" section is chuck full of Twilight and vampire stories.. But I think I'll go visit the store, I've been meaning to start reading again.
I think it depends on the length of the book. If you've read a couple that are shorter then definitely combine but if it's a much longer book then I would do just that one in a video. I love what you are doing with this channel. I just got a Nook and am absolutely on the look out for books to load onto it and read! So thank you!
The 4th Mortal Instruments book was released on the 5th of this month! At least I'm pretty sure.. lol I still have to go read it. Clockwork Angel didn't look very interesting, but I may pick it up because you gave it a good review =)
I love your litchats. Thanks to you I finally read the Hunger Games last week, and now I'm done Catching Fire and am just waiting for Mockingjay in the mail!
I think you should check out The Hero and the Crown and The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley, a wonderful read about young women being the heroines and shaping their own destiney. I'm guessing their in a faily distant past but based in a completely fantasy world. They are both related to each other but you needn't read one specifically to understand the other. They are a bit more young adult but still very good read :)
read the name of the wind! the next book just came out: the wise man's fear. the first book takes a while to get into, but its really good! :) loveee ur litchats
I love these videos you make, not just talking about makeup and beauty, but on other interests! most of the gurus seem so frivolous to me and you are so advanced =D keep up
You should read The Fetch by Laura Whitcomb Im pretty sure there will be a second one though so I advise u to wait till it comes out but it is a Great great young adult book:]
Actully, The Clockwork Angel is like the Mortal Instruments series. You should definately read those! and i can't remember if you have read the Hunger Games series? I would say that that series is definately the best YA series that i have read! Definately tied with the Mortal Instruments. Also, the Vampire Academy series is great, don't disregard it just because it has vampire in the title, it's not about that AT ALL. Hope you saw this, love your videos!
You should read the book "Briar Rose" by Jane Yolen. It's about a woman who tells her grandchildren the story of Briar Rose, but you learn throughout the book that the story is pretty much one big metaphor for her time in concentration camps. It's a quick read and I loved it! Also, have you ever read the Inheritance series (Eragon, Eldest, & Brisingr). The last book, Inheritance, comes out in November. I can't wait!
The Clockwork Angel book cover is gorgeous. Have you read The End of Mr Y by Scarlett Thomas? I think you'd also enjoy The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson
The Mortal Instruments is a fun read, i just finished the fourth installment and it was pretty good. Very different from what i normally read; such as: true crime, history biography, romance,.. and so on. Although Clocwork Angel is Interesting, but i loved it. I can't wait till the next book comes out.
Love the Litchats! You have my interest piqued for Clockwork Angel, but I totally agree that it's such a pain to wait for the next book in the series. I'll have to make a list for later. ;)
lol this was very awesome this is my first time watching a litchat i enjoyed it very much thanks =P. if u havent read it or have ever hear of it u shoiuld totally check out the house of night series. idk if u might like it. its also a vampire series. but i personally think its alot better than twilight lol. its a young adult series right now the authors have 7 books out. its a mother and daughter book. very good so plz whenever u have time i totally recommend that u check it out ^_^
Hi Julia, wondering if you have read Carlos Ruiz Zafon's books, they are pretty AMAZING? They are kind of young adult books (at least I think they are). The books are so good that I feel somewhat sucked into them and can't stop reading. Water for Elephants by Sarah Gruen is also a good choice. Thanks for your recommendation, I'll certainly try to find The City of Thieves, I love books that are set in a vintage era!
I hadn't heard of City of Thieves before now. And as for Clockwork Angel, it's not a book a would have picked up on my own. However, you've peaked my curiosity. I will definitely be picking up both books.
two books I've recently read and enjoyed are Rooftops of Tehran by Mahbod Seraji and Lamb by Christopher more (because everyone needs a little brain candy now and again.)
I'm currently reading Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand and The Tiger's Wife by Tea Obreht.
I love A Clockwork Angel! And "The Mortal Instruments"! The fourth book actually came out last week! It's called "City of Fallen Angels". I love Cassandra Clare, she's brilliant!
can you please unblocK me from your other channel!! i love your videos but we had a misunderstanding and then you blocked me :\ so it would be so awesome if you could unblock mee!!!! <33333
I don't remember if I already recommended this book or not, so sorry if I did. You should really check out The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly, it's so awesome!
I LOVE these videos. Apart from make-up, I love books!
I'm kinda weird though because I tend to stick with authors... Like Jodi Picoult is my fav author I read all of her books before reading something from another author...then I did the same with Diane Chamberlain.
Your books are a completely different genre to what I read, but I love the fact it gives me a taste of other book genres without going to purchase them and have to read through them to get the jist of the story.
The infernal devices series is the prequel to the mortal instruments. I think the way she has it set up now is that she is going to release a new book in each series intermittently because the plots kind of intertwine
Another author I love reading is PC Cast. She writes the House of Night series and I recently noticed that she has a series of adult fiction aswell. I haven't read them yet but I picked up the first book in the series a few days ago and I plan on reading it soon! Love your videos!
I love watching book reviews on you tube, I'm an adult who doesn't read books but I'd like to. Do you have a set time of day when you read? Do you read everyday? I feel like it would take me a month to read a whole book!
i just saw ur vid regarding wt.loss.let me just say that im very proud of what ur doing. its great that ur keeping the dream real and ur staying on the course. i myself am doing the same and i feel cause of ur motivation i feel more charged too. i can only hope that i do just as well. u actually dont look fat-ur as tall as a pillar. where as im a dwarf[5'2] i have a longer journey to go. but watching ur vid made me feel better. i wanted to comment in the past but u blocked me though,
I haven't read any young adult fiction for a couple of years, but I had to read "Hunger Games", I found the reading ridiculously easy, I finished the first volume in a day, the story is very catchy, which I hate because I find my time precious and I don't like to waste it on books that wouldn't enlarge my knowledge, so I tried to read it in english but they were so many unknown words and I didn't want to lose the thrill so yeah..
after this I think I'll get back to my classic stuff lol.
I LOVE yout LitChats!! You have a great taste in books and I always like what you recommend!!! Since Im done my semester I FINALLY have free time to do some leisure reading, Im definitely going to check these out!!! Thanks so much for your suggestions!! :)
Hey Julia, have you ever read the Harry Potter series? I'm 22 and I read everything from classic literature to non-fiction to total fantasy. I know Harry Potter was orignally geared towards children but I've been reading and re-reading it for years because, like you said, its such an easy read and it's very engaging. Just wondering what you thought. Oh, and I hate Twilight too.
@xoxLiveYourLifexox I never expected to like Harry Potter so I ignored the books for a long time. I finally decided to see what all the fuss was about and I LOVED all the Harry Potter books. They are indeed VERY engaging and if you are really paying attention there is a spiritual aspect to it. JK Rowling is a genius.
Cool Julia! I'll be on the lookout for these 2 books! Meanwhile, I'm about to start on water for elephants as recommended by you. I'm sure I'll enjoy it! Do more book reviews and yeah, you should lump it together.
Dont know what all kinds of books you like but i like some sci fi fantasy etc, and sometimes a little romance but u need to check out Gena Showalter and her book series Lords of the Underworld, they are very good to me lol, there is like 8 or 9 so far i dont know if you have heard of them or not. Worth looking at thanks for your book reviews :)
You should read 'The boy in the striped Pajamas by John Boyne'. It was such a sad, but beautiful book. They recently made a movie based on the book but, It wasn't as good as the book but still very good.
I have enjoyed all of the Cassandra Clare books that I have read. I read the Moral Instruments series ( a new book in the series is coming out pretty soon I think..if it hasn't already come out) and I read A Clockwork Angel a few months ago and I also really enjoyed it! You should invest in a kindle or some type of e-reader if you haven't already. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my kindle. I almost love it as much as I love makeup. I never leave home without it!! :) Have a great week!!

after this I think I'll get back to my classic stuff lol.

@xoxLiveYourLifexox I started it once and couldn't get into it at all

@xoxLiveYourLifexox I never expected to like Harry Potter so I ignored the books for a long time. I finally decided to see what all the fuss was about and I LOVED all the Harry Potter books. They are indeed VERY engaging and if you are really paying attention there is a spiritual aspect to it. JK Rowling is a genius.

Cool Julia! I'll be on the lookout for these 2 books! Meanwhile, I'm about to start on water for elephants as recommended by you. I'm sure I'll enjoy it! Do more book reviews and yeah, you should lump it together.
