  • Is shaving used tires hard on the tools? I thought only new tires can be shaved, since the rocks in used tires would destroy the cutting wheel.

  • @PseudoScienceb20 not to be an ass or anything but what benefit would u get by truing new tires? new tires are automatically perfect.

  • @coolio2281 Truing isn't done to a new tire (if a new tire needs truing, it's sent back). Truing, by nature shortens a tire's life, but it makes an otherwise faulty tire usable.

    It's rare to see truing done to a steel-belted radial tire, but until the late 1960s, when bias-ply tires were almost universal, truing was common. When a vehicle with bias-ply tires is not driven, the tires will eventually develop flat areas. It often can be 'driven out', but not always...hence, truing.
