i love all the spyro games!!! doesnt matter what form he comes in! and i loooooooved the TLoS series! its was epic! I think if there werent original spyro games no body would bash on it.....so maybe everyone should just think of the games as two seperate things (cuz they kinda are) instead of comparing them all the time for a ps2 game it was pretty advanced at the time
I alread have this game for my Nintendo DS, but I want this game for PS2 because the game play (in my oppinion) is a lot better. And it looks funner to play on a home console anyway. The NDS version is more like the easy; or rather, the annoying version.
i think spyro a new beginning is actually quite good, spyro isnt as cocky as what he was in the past series plus i think the story-line is really good ( though i do prefere the old serie) the only terrible spyro from the new trilogy was eternal night :/ it had more cut scenes than actual good gameplay
Though everyone misses the classic Spyro games, this one isn't half bad. If I were to change anything about this game, I would make it a little harder. I beat this game 9 times... The final boss is actually really easy.
Spyro was always at a downfall after the PS1 era. (no offence to The legend of Spyro series) But Spyro looks and plays atrocious in Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure
I also like the fact that you can play another Dragon and the graphics they made for the Elder dragons, I like the fact also that Sparx talks it gives the game a little humor. The only bumer I had with it was Spyro didn't swim and you didn't have those mini games. but other wise I loved it.
I believe a True Spyro fan should like the Games no matter what because it is a good game and was challenging. When I first got The Legend of Spyro I felt like I was playing parts to a movie. I though Dawn of the Dragon was pretty good Spyro did have a good look to him. I for one Think he Looks Cute and Awesome and will always be my Favorite game.
Both old and new Spyro are great in my opinion; they just have different game styles. The older ones were funny, laid-back, and more adventure oriented, while the LoS series is more story oriented with darker graphics and a more complex plot. LoS is more like a new series than a continuation of the old Spyros.

Okay, so a dragon with an oversized head, thinks that he's a small fly, then it becomes twilight, he kicks a 23 - year - old dragon's butt, only to find that she's actually around 12, and he saves the world about three times.

@JDudex1 Yes, that's what I mean. Hunter is in the final LoS game: The Legend of Spyro - Dawn of the Dragon. But of course the Legend series is much different from the original.
In the old games,Spyro just wanted to save the world because he was the only dragon left that wasn't frozen by Nasy Gnorc.So he "saved the world" or whatever.Then, danger just came back over and over again, and Spyro "saves the world' because he has done it before.
In the new Spyro games, there is a true DEEP story on how purple dragons are legendary,and that he HAVES to save the world. I am not saying that I don't like classic Spyro, I am just saying that ppl need to stop ranting on new Spyro.
@desdragona Well here is why the new games are pretty bad: They have a story, but is it a good story? Not really. Also the new games don't follow in line with the classics. The "classic" spyro games were funny, and not to be taken seriously. I mean you see spyro in a lawn chair relaxing. You use a penguin with rocket launchers to attack enemies! The games were funny, and different from most games. Most games didn't have the hero laid back or relaxed. The new games are trying too hard.

@desdragona That's exactly what I thought. Honestly I stopped playing the games after about new beginning I think. I own the newest one, but haven't really played it. They just don't feel like the originals. The originals weren't necessarily for kids, but they were laid back, relaxed, and funny. A talk about gorgeous scenary! The second game when you get to explore the giant castle! That was fun. Basically what made spyro spyro was its charm. Once you get rid of the charm it is just a platformer

@desdragona Maybe I haven't heard his voice in a while but I liked the original fairly well. I own the first 3 game, year of the dragon fly which most likely the worst one in the series, a heroes tail, and dawn of the dragon yet I haven't beaten it. My favorites are 2, and 3.

@desdragona Well now that I listen to it, I guess the voice wasn't the best, but then again everything we thought that was good back then isn't as good as it is now. I liked his voice because he did sound like a kid, which is exactly what he was. The reason I liked the 3rd game so much was because of the new cast of playable characters. Especially sergeant bird or whatever his name was. I loved exploring the flying city with him. Yeah when I played enter the dragonfly I was like "9 levels?"

It looks good, and it looks like it plays well, but I have two problems with it: Spyro looks ugly, his body doesn't really look like it can support his head, and his colors are oversaturated. Also, what is up with the saturation difference between what looks like the cutscenes and the actual game? I mean both look good and well rendered but that inconsistancy bothers me. However, it looks and sounds better than what I heard, and I want to check it out, any ideas where I get a copy?

I heard that the Legend of Spyro aren't that great. But you gotta admit, the graphics look awesome. And Spyro's voice shows that he has grown and matured since the events of the original series, and that in my opinion was a nice touch.

I also like all the games before it, Spyro 3 was one of my favorites, but I don't mind the fact that they did something new for once, when something new comes out, people just go: "Oh my God! I always love new things! Resident Evil 4 gameplay was a really new thing for Resident Evil series but I just love it BECAUSE IT WAS GOOD! But new Spyro series made bad changes and just ruined the series. I don't hate "new". I hate "bad change"
@whaowman Dude, RE didn't make huge changes. THIS is new change: New powers, new gameplay, and for Spyro in particular, it's a good story. The old was just a shot-in-the-dark when it came to story. Even in those days, they could've afforded something of a backstory. It shouldn't stay very close to it's roots as that means you still stay in the same rotting underground without ever getting to see anything new. LOS has a deep story, in-depth combat & improved the characters. What's so wrong?

i've played ripto's rage, year of the dragon, both the seasons games, attack of the rhynocs, and a brief part of enter the dragonfly (they were all good, in their own ways obviously, though enter the dragonfly was just meh)
now i've played all 3 legend games (they were awesome), and they've improved spyro a lot (like he can finally free-fly in dawn of the dragon)
alot of people hate this series but I find them to be quite biass.
the legend series gave Spyro a more diverse move set instead of the simple flame and charge of the originals. the story was little a better and took a Darker approach to Spyro's world.
now take this and all pros of the originals and splice them together

I like your idea, but they put some explorability in DOTD, so what else can they bring back? Some new Gems? Portals? Some power up gates to give furies to different elements? What?
@vgman94 all of what you have said Gems, Portals, Homeworlds and power up gates to make Spyro's breath attacks more powerful. also add NEW things like Armour that enhances your abilities in combat, Dragon Shrines where you learn new moves to prepare you for the more dangerous enemies and Finally a Grublin Shaman who teaches Spyro to harnas his Dark Spyro alter ego by giving him Dark Gems.
the only thing I would sacrifice is the flying, because it would shut up all those cry babies out there.
@seanMmaguire1 Yes, I agree! A Grublin Shaman sounds epic. And maybe he could help do the same with Cynder. I love the sound of the Dragon Shrines idea. Mixing the teaching style of A Hero's Tail with a new type of Dragon statue mixed from Spyro 1 with the epic design and style of the Legend trilogy. Nice! 2 types of Fury: Regular and Dark, each with it's own benefits and drawbacks (longer time, strong breaths for Reg, Shorter time, stronger physical attacks with Dark).
@seanMmaguire1 (Part 2) I know how you feel. Maybe the Free-flight could just be in certain areas or with the use of special Gates or through special wing armor or wing relics. But those "I want to fly higher!!!" types would still probably whine. :/

I disagree on this point. I would keep the "I love you" thing because 1. It was sweet (IMO), 2. It would be confusing to change it timeline-wise, and 3. Because it would be intereseting to see how they act with each other afterwards. But yes, the next game should build on their relationship.

You have a point, but Acti said they were going in a different direction... I really Hope they don't change it back. A lot of people like it, but I didn't and even then, why lose this epic world? There's so much potential in story that could be lost by changing it into a simple platformer again... >:(

Simply put, just keep it the same. Go in the serious direction, advance the gameplay with unlokcable moves, expand the breathes, and make some new villians who are somewhat distantly tied to Malefor.

@vgman94 as you complete missions in worlds more portals will open to the player to advance the plot but the player can go back to other worlds whenever he/she wants to look for secrets
@seanMmaguire1 That's be epic and a good mix of new and old themes. Love story, combat, personalities with portals and secret collectibles. It's like remaking the old games in a good way (don't take offense,but I didn't like it too much when I was younger and as I got older, I became unable to feel much joy from most platformers save for the new Sonic games, I hate the old Spyros now).
@vgman94 well thats what we've been aiming for. thow I would downplay the love story and focus on Main story where Spyro faces Predjudice, Betrayal and Armageddon but still stands strong. The Cynder Spin off would focus on her character and Sparx, as he would find it hard to except Cynder as Spyro's Girlfriend and would start to feel that he was being pushed away even going to point when everything goes bad he openly accuses Cynder of causing all the trouble in their lives.
@seanMmaguire1 Ah, yes. Hatred of Dragons because of Malefor. Betrayal from new characters, not from Cynder or Sparx. That'd be good. They get a bit seperate. And then in a battle Spyro gets ill from some poisonous crystal and can't fight, so Cynder has to go alone with Sparx as company only to find some artifact or a Shaman or something to make him better. I can imagine you start the game with Spyro and fight the final boss with Spyro, but most of the game will be with only Sparx.
Though I liked this series I wish it had kept to the simplicity of just two fighting methods... Flame 'em or Run them over... I'd say I was disappointed when A Heros Tail came out I still played it though.
I like both the Old AND the New Spyro. I dont' care that his appearance is strange and that he's whole new character in reboots or spin-offs, he's still the purple dragon, Spyro! :3

Ok for all you irritating people out there the legend of spyro series is good if you look at the right stuff like the story not exactly original (aka Moses reference along with lord of the rings) the first 3 was amazing but lacked a story that left you wanting more I have been a spyro fan since the very beginning and that is what I have to say about the spyro series.

Actuall, in the newest Spyro game, you can fly a bit like that. Not very much the same, but similar, a little. I think they just wanted to make Spyro in a new light. Because the old Spyro was dying with the bad reviews Shadow Legacy and AHT got. Although, I liked AHT a lot. Naw. That won't happen. Spyro's just growing up and getting more serious. That's all.

In the old games,Spyro just wanted to save the world because he was the only dragon left that wasn't frozen by Nasy Gnorc.So he "saved the world" or whatever.Then, danger just came back over and over again, and Spyro "saves the world' because he has done it before.
In the new Spyro games, there is a true DEEP story on how purple dragons are legendary,and that he HAVES to save the world. I am not saying that I don't like classic Spyro, I am just saying that ppl need to stop ranting on new Spyro.

@desdragona Well here is why the new games are pretty bad: They have a story, but is it a good story? Not really. Also the new games don't follow in line with the classics. The "classic" spyro games were funny, and not to be taken seriously. I mean you see spyro in a lawn chair relaxing. You use a penguin with rocket launchers to attack enemies! The games were funny, and different from most games. Most games didn't have the hero laid back or relaxed. The new games are trying too hard.

@Pixelrelated that is an awesome way to explain that.A few weeks ago,I actually saw a classic Spyro commercials on YT.I was like,"Holy shiz..He really is for little kids." Therefor, like you said, the games were funny and all. I love the new story though;a lot.But..I feel like that there are so many things that I can come up with that would make the game the best video game ever.Classic was funny, but new was too serious..they need to make one that is in between or something, you know?:p

@desdragona That's exactly what I thought. Honestly I stopped playing the games after about new beginning I think. I own the newest one, but haven't really played it. They just don't feel like the originals. The originals weren't necessarily for kids, but they were laid back, relaxed, and funny. A talk about gorgeous scenary! The second game when you get to explore the giant castle! That was fun. Basically what made spyro spyro was its charm. Once you get rid of the charm it is just a platformer

@desdragona Maybe I haven't heard his voice in a while but I liked the original fairly well. I own the first 3 game, year of the dragon fly which most likely the worst one in the series, a heroes tail, and dawn of the dragon yet I haven't beaten it. My favorites are 2, and 3.

I have beaten all of the Spyro games exept TLoS:TEN and Enter the Dragonfly.A Hero's Tail used to be my favorite.I don't know...:p

@desdragona Well now that I listen to it, I guess the voice wasn't the best, but then again everything we thought that was good back then isn't as good as it is now. I liked his voice because he did sound like a kid, which is exactly what he was. The reason I liked the 3rd game so much was because of the new cast of playable characters. Especially sergeant bird or whatever his name was. I loved exploring the flying city with him. Yeah when I played enter the dragonfly I was like "9 levels?"

It looks good, and it looks like it plays well, but I have two problems with it: Spyro looks ugly, his body doesn't really look like it can support his head, and his colors are oversaturated. Also, what is up with the saturation difference between what looks like the cutscenes and the actual game? I mean both look good and well rendered but that inconsistancy bothers me. However, it looks and sounds better than what I heard, and I want to check it out, any ideas where I get a copy?

I heard that the Legend of Spyro aren't that great. But you gotta admit, the graphics look awesome. And Spyro's voice shows that he has grown and matured since the events of the original series, and that in my opinion was a nice touch.

So, this is the new Spyro. My childhood got raped :( I can remember my first met with Spyro.

Location: Turkey
I was 6 years old. My father come with Psone, Spyro 3 and other few games. He set Playstation and start Spyro 3. It was my very first Playstation game. Me and my mother loved the game and we finished it together in few months. It was a awesome adventure. Good old days...now look at this shit! This isn't Spyro!!!

I also like all the games before it, Spyro 3 was one of my favorites, but I don't mind the fact that they did something new for once, when something new comes out, people just go: "Oh my God! It's new! I fucking hate it! It's not classic!" And so on. It's a fucking game, and it's still awesome. Deal with it.

@whaowman Dude, RE didn't make huge changes. THIS is new change: New powers, new gameplay, and for Spyro in particular, it's a good story. The old was just a shot-in-the-dark when it came to story. Even in those days, they could've afforded something of a backstory. It shouldn't stay very close to it's roots as that means you still stay in the same rotting underground without ever getting to see anything new. LOS has a deep story, in-depth combat & improved the characters. What's so wrong?

i really wish people would stop hating this game JUST because they changed a few things
i've played ripto's rage, year of the dragon, both the seasons games, attack of the rhynocs, and a brief part of enter the dragonfly (they were all good, in their own ways obviously, though enter the dragonfly was just meh)
now i've played all 3 legend games (they were awesome), and they've improved spyro a lot (like he can finally free-fly in dawn of the dragon)

alot of people hate this series but I find them to be quite biass.
the legend series gave Spyro a more diverse move set instead of the simple flame and charge of the originals. the story was little a better and took a Darker approach to Spyro's world.
now take this and all pros of the originals and splice them together

@vgman94 all of what you have said Gems, Portals, Homeworlds and power up gates to make Spyro's breath attacks more powerful. also add NEW things like Armour that enhances your abilities in combat, Dragon Shrines where you learn new moves to prepare you for the more dangerous enemies and Finally a Grublin Shaman who teaches Spyro to harnas his Dark Spyro alter ego by giving him Dark Gems.
the only thing I would sacrifice is the flying, because it would shut up all those cry babies out there.

@seanMmaguire1 Yes, I agree! A Grublin Shaman sounds epic. And maybe he could help do the same with Cynder. I love the sound of the Dragon Shrines idea. Mixing the teaching style of A Hero's Tail with a new type of Dragon statue mixed from Spyro 1 with the epic design and style of the Legend trilogy. Nice! 2 types of Fury: Regular and Dark, each with it's own benefits and drawbacks (longer time, strong breaths for Reg, Shorter time, stronger physical attacks with Dark).

I disagree on this point. I would keep the "I love you" thing because 1. It was sweet (IMO), 2. It would be confusing to change it timeline-wise, and 3. Because it would be intereseting to see how they act with each other afterwards. But yes, the next game should build on their relationship.

Simply put, just keep it the same. Go in the serious direction, advance the gameplay with unlokcable moves, expand the breathes, and make some new villians who are somewhat distantly tied to Malefor.

It's like remaking the old games in a good way (don't take offense,but I didn't like it too much when I was younger and as I got older, I became unable to feel much joy from most platformers save for the new Sonic games, I hate the old Spyros now).

@vgman94 well thats what we've been aiming for. thow I would downplay the love story and focus on Main story where Spyro faces Predjudice, Betrayal and Armageddon but still stands strong. The Cynder Spin off would focus on her character and Sparx, as he would find it hard to except Cynder as Spyro's Girlfriend and would start to feel that he was being pushed away even going to point when everything goes bad he openly accuses Cynder of causing all the trouble in their lives.

@seanMmaguire1 Ah, yes. Hatred of Dragons because of Malefor. Betrayal from new characters, not from Cynder or Sparx. That'd be good. They get a bit seperate. And then in a battle Spyro gets ill from some poisonous crystal and can't fight, so Cynder has to go alone with Sparx as company only to find some artifact or a Shaman or something to make him better. I can imagine you start the game with Spyro and fight the final boss with Spyro, but most of the game will be with only Sparx.

Ok for all you irritating people out there the legend of spyro series is good if you look at the right stuff like the story not exactly original (aka Moses reference along with lord of the rings) the first 3 was amazing but lacked a story that left you wanting more I have been a spyro fan since the very beginning and that is what I have to say about the spyro series.

omg i was sooo excited for this game i loved the moves on the commercial i loved the graphics and wat the levels looked like but then i got it and i played it and im like this is violent i want the old spyro back plz plz plz i wish i can contact them and tell them to bring the old spyro back

Sorry for you, but they won't. I like the new Spyro anyway. Better than the old and what's wrong? I mean, the combat and cool "violence" is one of the large factors that make them fun. Unless you dislike combat games, of course.

@vgman94 well i just liked how you would have to do puzzles and thos flying levels on the old games flying through thos rings destroying the boxes before time runs out an then the ppl that made the game just say this is to girly how bout something else and just make it worse i love fighting games but then they just make it into some game that is soon going to be rated T for teen =(

Actuall, in the newest Spyro game, you can fly a bit like that. Not very much the same, but similar, a little. I think they just wanted to make Spyro in a new light. Because the old Spyro was dying with the bad reviews Shadow Legacy and AHT got. Although, I liked AHT a lot. Naw. That won't happen. Spyro's just growing up and getting more serious. That's all.

@vgman94 well i have to admit i do like the flying parts of the new beginning and i also like dawn of the dragon how you can fly any time i kind of like dawn of the dragon better

Yeah, I agree. Dawn of the Dragon is also my favorite Spyro game.
