  • just wanted to know is this true comet 255PLevy is it really going to be seen to the unaided eye or will we need a telescope

  • Was that a Monty python reference I saw! Haha. Nice video, and getting better every week!

  • @sandgreenz - Yes, it was, and thank you! When I was writing the script I had this sudden memory flashback that the words "A GRAIL?" were spoken in that movie (not surprising, since I can recite half of the lines from memory anyway). So I included a quick parody of the "Tim" character. If I had a higher budget I could have done the beard and horns better, but alas, a "nearly-zero" budget means you work with what you've got.

  • Nice work David! I was just able to resolve Mars into a disk last night. If it wasn't for the color, I wouldn't be able to tell it from a star... Your videos are getting really good!

    Sean

  • @Astroseanchef - thank you Sean! Looking forward to warmer weather and the outreach at LRSH again. So... are you saying Big Jack didn't resolve Mars into much of a disk?

  • @eyesontheskyDOTcom Not big Tom, getting lazy in my old age, 70mm "Spaceprobe" reflector. I might drag BT out tonight though...

  • @Astroseanchef - oops, my bad "Big Tom." Hey, "old age"? You're younger than me!!

  • @christobean1997 - the first week of March.

  • These videos are very helpful and I appreciate how much time you put into their production. Thanks.

  • @sbrobin1 - you're very welcome and thank you so much for watching them.

  • Another great presenation, Dave. I like the "terminator"!

  • @skyscraperjim - thank you Jim! It's fun doing the skit/humorous segments.

  • Mars is going to retrograde?

  • @WorldwideWakeupCall - yes it will. I'll be talking about that in upcoming months.

  • @eyesontheskyDOTcom Awesome, I look forward to it :)

  • \o/

My mission this weak is to see the Martian north pole....(should be starting to become visible in 4" and larger refractors)

  • @blobrana - that is a good feature to look for on Mars this week, for sure. I find that either red or green filters can be helpful in spotting the polar ice caps for Mars.

  • @eyesontheskyDOTcom

Hum, and green is the only filter i haven't got...(I'll try my luck with the #21 or #25 filters)

  • @blobrana - red works too. I've never found that colored planetary filters make a huge difference, but they certainly can bring out subtle highlights that are sometimes overlooked in all wavelengths. The biggest factor this opposition will be the small angular diameter of Mars, so the filters can help.
