As much as I like apple, they have to lower their prices. You can buy a router, modem, automatic backup program, external hard drive, and a wireless printer for less that $500.
@Magostop: you can? news to me..hp wireless printers already are in the hundreds..routers are a good 40-70..and external hard drives are pricey..so IDK where you live that has everything cheap
if you want to backup important data, dont use one of these, use something like skydrive to store stuff on. let somebody else use raid arrays to really backup data.
You're an idiot, hard drive crashes are hardware issues. Maybe you bought shitty Walmart Special computers with offbranded harddrives, that could explain why your harddrive was faulty, This isn't a software issue, and since the software defines if it is a "PC" or not in this sense, the fact that it is a PC is irrelevant. The harddrive fail rate between Macs and PCs is almost identical.
Fair enough, however, that doesn't change the fact that the hardware was at fault, the hardware doesn't know what it's running, Linux, OS X, Unix, FreeBSD, or even Windows. If you took 100 windows machines, 100 OS X machines and put them in a room, statistically you will have very similar failure rates.
Hardrives will always fail no matter what...I have 6 dead ones sitting rite here on my bookshelf. = (
It's just the phisical componants, they all have a lifespan and some hard drive models use diffrent quality of materials that others, but at the end of the day a Hard Disk Drive can only last a number of years.
Hard drive failures are just as likely on a mac as they are on a PC... it is hardware issue as said before, and believe me I have multiple PCs and Macs,,, the anatomy of a COMPUTER is the same... please educate yourselves before being a fan-boy, fyi I have a 2TB Time Capsule rerouted through a Netgear Gateway and it works great.
