  • My english teacher showed us this and asked us to write about what today's society's definition of 'beautiful' was.

  • Dove is extremely hypocritical, they do exactly what they're 'against' in their adverts for you to buy their products!

  • /watch?v=Ei6JvK0W60I

    Better Quality

  • Even if they only do this to make us buy their product, the message is still very true and necessary.

  • i hate dove.... terrible company , they use palm oil. they destroy something that is beautiful . they destroy forests and they destroy the animals that live in them. its cruel .

  • this a perfect message to send to every generation...you don't have to change for anybody!

  • It's hard to consider yourself pretty when you constantly have to compare yourself to "pretty" and "popular" girls and what guys consider ideal.

  • @bonezillion I know how you feel. I overcame that because i realised how "plastic" they look. Even the teachers would talk about how they were a shit load of makeup so don't feel bad. And to all those guys, they don't deserve you. :) Just live life to the fullest

  • @bonezillion i totally agree; people say that you're beautiful and you don't have to change yourself, but that's hard to accept since every ad seems to tell you "you're not perfect, but we are, so use our product and you will be"

  • I remember being in second grade and a quite 'popular' boy saying I looked 'pregnant'. It was that very moment I lost that oblivious childhood. I had gone home crying and with the weight of being a young little girl and having someone imply that I was fat. I look back at photos of myself as a kid and see only a child with absolutely no fat at all. It makes me cry even now thinking how just ONE person can effect who you are. I would kill to go back in time and tell myself that your perfect.

  • How can a company be so hypocrite? Dove is owned by the same company as Axe. (which is Unilever).

  • @zarbi10425 That is exactly what ruins it for me.

  • How's this song called?

  • @LuighseachMaeve Simian - La Breeze (from albumWe are your friends)

  • I watched a documentary about the industry companies are reaching people in younger and younger ages for their profits.

we all know that there are lot of commercials aimed to the teens, but now the companies are hunting younger persons and call them "tweens".

Tweens are ages from 8 to 12 and the companies are filling their minds with stuff like, the children must have expensive cloths, cellphone, makeup and so on to fit in this society.

I wonder how the future will be like

  • This commercial is funny only because dove is owned by Unilever, Unilever also owns the Axe brand. Nice try Dove.

  • We need someone else to speak out against the beauty industry, not million dollar corporations that are part of the beauty industry itsself.

  • It's sad that it starts that early. I remember being in 3rd grade and thinking I was fat. 3rd grade. I was like 8. that's awful.

  • Like Greenpeace showed, dove isn't looking at the big picture, the fact that dove (and other companies) used up most of rainforests for their products. They were removing the natural beauty of someone else's home and add that "natural beauty" to their products. When dove puts up an ad like this and gets so many consumers, they better be prepared to get some enemies.

  • people take extreme measures to look beautiful and sometimes ruin their body beacuse of these images they see, i like this video, it send sa good message

  • "A message from Unilever"

    /watch?v=SwDEF-w4rJk

"Someone pointed out that Axe and Dove are both owned by Unilever... yet the two brands have very different views when it comes to women."

    thumbs up if you agree

  • @BarakiU That's like saying that if two people from the same parents have to be the same. Not true. One person could be nice and one could be evil it just depends.

  • Women make a big deal about this (and rightly so), but aren't many guys selected by how much they make or could make (inheritance included)? Someone needs to make a video of this kind showing men being thought as pieces of money!

  • I have actually being bullied since I entered to school until I reached 9° grade... Nowadays, I´m in high school, I still feel bad about it and feel fat. I will never forget the kids who were mean with me. I have to, but I can´t.

  • On the one hand, I would be far more impressed if they weren't still trying to hawk us beauty products and actually featured proper women in these ads, because no, while those curvier models are beautiful, they are not actually representative of the norm.

On the other hand, our perception of beauty and the extremes so many of us go to to try and achieve them are warped and disturbing, and they have to be changed. Too many women and girls have been hurt by this, what will it take for change?

  • There are no ugly children in this video.

  • haha ginger.

  • @dpatel120 I'm so glad you got the message

  • @maddiieeelevvv i dont really see one a REAL message, like the highest rated commenter said they probably picked this girl out of soo many based on her looks so yeah this is bs

  • if only the parent companie didnt also own axe

  • does anyone know the song? i really like it...

  • @belovedrebel88 its called "la breeze" by simian :)

  • Good add ,all them people with eating problems and depression and killing them selves for f**k all, everyone likes to look and feel good but i do it through healthy ways not making my self sick lots of different pills ect

  • @PCthesecond Well, aren't you a special snowflake?

Missing the point, genius. However iffy I remain about this campaign, the point isn't just that girls and women are doing awful things to themselves to fit in to what we are told is 'beautiful' (because obvs that is what we have to be, duh, as that is our purpose in life and what we have to be to achieve anything), it's that THEY FEEL THE NEED TO. And smug morons like you being all sanctimonious about method only serve to make them feel worse.

  • @Kiariad not missing the point at all this add is about telling young girls that doing this is wrong, they should know that. That isent what we have to do at all moron. they dont need to make them selves sick and ill, what 7 year old do u know that feels THE NEED TO do that? youve missed the point luv its not about the people in the add its about that litle girl and whats shes going to be told is right is wrong. end of. my mom was a model and she always taught me the beauty industry is 70% lie.

  • I'm boycotting Dove soap for its murder of millions of trees and jungle dwelling animals and its shitty commercial campaigns, whose with me!

  • Screw Dove corporation and their dumbass commercial campaign. Its a well known fact that fake beauty queens who are semi-retarded starve themselves and butcher and their bodies and faces and put plastic in them to up to that 10 spot.

This commerical serves no purpose other than to turn girls away from slutty anorexic feminism and convert them to fat-ass manhating feminism instead. Paydafee is absolutely right, they did pick her from an audition based on her looks.

  • @RagnarLodbrok6

People like you who can only think in black and white terms make me scared for humanity.

  • Guys like pretty women

    Girls like to look pretty

    Companies like there money

So let the companies do there thing.

  • This comercial scares me. Alot.

  • i know that girl

  • Well I saw this at school today for the first time lol anyway

yeah Dont be all "thin" like those super models be happy what size you are

but try to mentain a healthy weight. And those super models :l half and them don't even look like that they get all these stupid cosmetic surgury and stuff like that and when they take their image they just trasform it

I think girls now a days are having way too low self estem ESPECIALLY at young ages just be happy who you are

    Never change YOUR image!!!

  • Cosmetic surgury should ONLY be for repairs and removing skin abnormalities and tacking out ugly varicose vains or cutting out unsightly hairy black moles. Fake breasts stick out and you can sea the joins and are HORIBLE. Removing pubic hair and other body hair looks nice, body butchery looks fake and disgusting.

  • @aluminiumplastic The term "butchery" only applies to poorly performed surgery, which tends to be exemplified much more often than good surgery is. To say "cosmetic surgery should only be performed for repairs" is ridiculous. Would you like to abolish any form of body modification just because you personally don't like it? Of course most surgeries will never duplicate natural parts exactly, but if it is a choice between an undesirable and artificial, many people will opt for artificial.

  • @xXPinkGoddessXx Are you a JB fan by any chance?

  • @aluminiumplastic Who is JB?

  • Cosmetic surgury was only suposed to be for repairing scared faces and removeing moles, polleps and varucas NOT this BS. Large fake breasts look TERIBLE and unatural. Beuty sergury should be restrained to remoeving varicose vains and scin abnormalitier, removing hair and repairing scars. Being slighty fat looks MUCH nicers than some scarecrow stick figure.

  • what is this song that is in this video?

  • @kenzbabenz94 La Breeze by Simian

  • i agree the beauty industry has gotten to me im soo concerned if im fat or if i have big hips or if my skins perfect or if i have a big enough chest

  • @cocoshamoco I would rather 100 fat women than a single anorxic fairy. severyl underwaight people teeth fall out and they go all hairy and their bones always break and get ill all the time, being a couple of stone overwaight is not really going to harm you much.

  • @aluminiumplastic A couple of POUNDS or KILOS maybe, but being a couple of STONES overweight definitely has harmful effects your body. It's all about moderation.

  • @yobrotom Exactly. I just think it's disgusting when you have people 9 stone over waight. It just looks nasty and un-natural. I saw a woman at the bus station once and she was so fat her arm hung down at an angle and her stomach almost covered her kness. It's just sick and they get all hairy in the face and chin too, it's sick and disturbed. Come on, once your a couple of stone over waight, and continue to eat, then there is a seriuose issue.

  • I reccomend the book: The Body Project written by Joan Jacob Brumberg

Also it doesn't matter if this is clever marketing or not, it is important to start the dialogue somewhere...might as well be here. I am stunned that anyone would post soething negative regarding marketing, at least they are getting the word out.

  • i like the greenpeace version better (sorry to say LOL)

  • Honestly..

    being healthy should be promoted.

    Not too thin.

And being toned shouldn't matter. If you're heatlhy and the correct weight, you're fine.

I use to wear makeup everyday and go through this crap all the time, and to be quite honest I feel beautiful without it all.

GIrls are beautiful INSIDE AND OUT... it's said everyday...SO TAKE THE DAMN ADVICE..

  • @Wubblez10 This is SO true. I couldn't have said it better myself.

  • @Wubblez10 girls arent beautiful inside. if you find bowels, brains and other internal organs attractive seek medical help because you are a necrophiliac

  • @Del249 nice.

  • @Del249 CLEARLY, you're being ignorant towards what I mean when I say "Inner beauty"

  • @Wubblez10 Or he's just pointing out the irony in using a word designed to describe aesthetic perfection, to describe how virtuous someone is.

  • @xXPinkGoddessXx

    Rrrrrrrright

  • hmm...it's time to live in healthy life :) look what we eat each day...exercise also reduce stress...then you look younger than your age ;) anyway we do that for our health 'cos when you're healthy you're more happy..

  • Comment removed

  • I think this is a very true message. This starts earlier than you can imagine.. I remember being bullied everyday because I was a little bit overweight as a little girl and wore glasses. Whenever I look back at pictures of myself I don't even see a fat kid... it's insane... It makes me cry that other children made my life a living hell because I didn't fit the beauty standards.. when I even wasn't that big for a little kid.. it's disgusting...

  • @horsepheus You do realise though that has nothing to do with beauty standards, and everything to do with children trying to assert power over those they see as weaker. Children will do that over anything they can pick out as different, or will even make up differences or negatives that don't exist.

  • i like the song

  • the song is called "la breeze" in case anyone wanted to know

  • @MajorNuttela14 omg thank you ! you just saved me soo much work srsly! :D

  • @lawljowk its ok. it took me a while to find it!

  • Has this actually been on tv? I've never seen it.

  • A good message, but don't you think it's a bit hypocritical? And also, dove really isn't doing much of what they say they are. They just want profit.

Oh well. Good song, at least.

  • Girls! There is also a huge positive effekt to the beauty industry:

    1) Being pretty you get more attention from guys

    2) Statisticaly women live SEVEN years longer than men!!!

    Its not ALL that bad!

  • @apollon255 WTF dude that is the shallowest thing i've ever heard.

ever notice that SOME girls that get lots of guys aren't pretty- they have personality

    ...or are really easy.

And what does living longer have to with the beauty industry????

  • @SinfulSerpentine I am glad you also noticed the irony in my remarks, but anyway...

ever seen a high class guy married to a fat and ugly chick? I havent. Well, there is one - actually. Bill Clinton. But there are always exceptions to the rules! haha

Oh thats a no brainer, I am surprised you didnt get this one. Beauty industry dictates standards to girls. For instance to be in shape and have a nice body! So girls look after thier bodies much better during thier life time than guys.

  • @apollon255 right. guys that choose lifetime partners based on looks which do not last is the stupidest thing ever. when you're both seniors and looks fade a good, strong character can still remain.

and statistically girls that face such pressure live shorter. any girl who meets today's beauty standards is probably underweight and runs risk of dangerously low bone density.

most models aren't too glamorous in real life, if you see street photos with less makeup many look quite sickly.

  • *and by "looks" i mean beauty standards, i think there is a charm to everything including the very elderly, etc. forcing myself to throw up everyday and working on getting past all this has helped me accept the bodies of others and appreciate "flaws". an interesting-looking person will always look better to me than a photoshopped idyllic figure.

  • @fireflynights I agree its stupid to chose lifetime partners based on looks but this is how nature made us. Girls also chose men who are high status NOW. Its human nature to think short turm. Best example is the current finantial crisis in US and EU.

  • This really is a big problem these days... Some of my friends who are absolutely gorgeous (naturally) get surgery on their face and body just to make something look more like the models they see on ads. It's pathetic and it really needs to stop... What happened to unique, natural beauty? Now everybody looks the same, plastic and all :(

  • @204badwolf

The song is La Breeze by Simian.. the music video is EXCELLENT. you should look it up. :]

  • ARGH I WANT THAT SONG! WHAT IS IT!!!???!?!?!?

  • whats the name of the songs used???

    what an awesome ad!

  • Comment removed

  • This is amazing. but no matter how much its told to GIRL... guys end up having an image set of how a girl should look. -Sigh.

It's like one in a million that a guy doesn't think that. :/

    (not trying to be sexist..etc..).

  • @TheUnusedSpork On the contrary, I think you'd find that most guys would much rather have a real, natural looking girl!

  • but aren't they also guilty of that? check out india they really had an impact there, lol

  • wow. beautifully done

  • the song is called la breeze by simian

  • This is just campaigning and in my opinion not a legitimate cause. Everything being currently bitched about is a perfectly viable method used subconsciously by male humans to choose a suitable mate. Stop bitching.

  • @skiracer1210 Well hey, as long as human males can find mates, who cares that women are starving themselves and injecting botulism into their faces, right?

  • @loganberry30 isn't our sole purpose in life to reproduce? if it werent we'd be all long dead regardless of how artificially "enhanced" the women were

  • @skiracer1210 While we are biologically driven to produce progeny, we are not personally defined by it. Are you honestly willing to tell infertile couples or people without children that their lives lack purpose? Because that sounds like a great way to earn a swift and possibly debilitating kick to the gonads. And then where would you be? :)

  • It's important to know all facts before blindly trusting or following something.... Dove's campaign against the media and body pressure is a good thing, but it's not the saint among corporations... the loss of forests due to the company and other beauty companies is horrible.... Just remember :)

But you can't bring about a perfect world all at once, I guess you gotta pick your battles.

  • that was really scary

  • HUMANS are a disease to the planet.

  • they probably had to audition this girl from 100 other little girls based on looks

  • @paydafee LMFAO, youre so right.

  • @paydafee thats not the POINT of this video

  • @paydafee really? she is ginger

  • @paydafee you are so right. doing this for GCSE media coursework. gunna tell my teacher that lol

  • @paydafee that's the IDEA!

  • @paydafee that's the IDEA! If you fit the MODEL MOLD, it mus be true right?

  • @paydafee the director of this video said they saw about 15 girls and those that came to the shoot got filmed. he says so on the ORIGINAL video. so before you go around making false assumptions, get your facts straight.

  • What's the song?

  • @AllaraPheonix the song is "LA Breeze" by Simian (:

  • @vnlovesmonkeys Thankyou! Thumbs up :D

  • @vnlovesmonkeys

    wooh thanks!

  • Times like these I'm glad I'm a man.

  • Does anyone know the name of this song? Or was it written and recorded just for the commercial?

  • I wonder when this will happen to men...for once

  • finnaly someone who see...

  • i love dove's new campaigns, however, does anyone else find it a bit odd that the company that owns dove also owns and oversees axe body spray and its other affiliated products?

  • @aprilm11

    Dove Onslaught(er)

    pls watch it..

    watch?v=odI7pQFyjso

  • Wonderful!

  • watch Dove Onslaught(er)

  • I DONT like my self :( i'm not perfect enov but I WILL BE OFTER the botoks :)

  • This video makes me sick, I agree that beauty shouln´t be comercial, and is this the message they want to send to young girls? that they need to be plasticly pretty to fit in? Dove is killing the rain forests for it´s products

  • @sntdr They are trying to send the opposite. It is not for their products, there is actually a seminar/class they hold.

  • @sntdr They are sending the opposite. They used the plastic surgery clip as a example of what the media is teaching girls. That they need this and that to be pretty and this is how you get it.

  • Dove products suck. They are mediocre made for the mediocrity. Who are these videos aimed at? Do they have a public at all?

  • i like the music.

  • So true!

  • this is probably one of the most deep commercials i have ever seen

  • <3 <3 <3 <3

If you love your body, copy and paste this as a comment.

True beauty should not be taken over by the media.

  • What song is this?

  • Nice idea in the video, but the sad fact is that they're only trying to sell beauty products.

    I've never bought Dove's crap.

  • I BLAME THE PARENTS

  • For all of you that think: "hey, Dove is a great company, they actually care about us women" I have to tell you you're wrong. Dove is a part of Unilever, and so is Axe. All of you have seen Axe commercials, with women of "false beauty" (according to this commercial), and the message that each company sends us is completely different, but they're the same company though. They don't care about your feelings, they care about your money. The message they send doesn't worth a shit for them.

  • How do the corporates do it? Step 1: convince my daughter she has a problem even though she doesnt. Step 2: get her to dislike herself because of it. Step 3: convince her theres a solution & its called 'their product'. Step 4: Wrap it up in cellophane & brand it with a fictitious miracle vitamin & price it at an exorbitant level so it appears "rare". Step 6: Buy that Ferrari & make out you earn your money like a man when really, you prey on 10 year olds.

  • it's funny how both dove and axe are owned by the same corporation and one tells girls to be beautiful and so forth, while axe commercials degrade women to an almost sub-property stutus

  • I applaud the issue being brought up but ... kinda wonky if you ask me.

First off onslaughter shows dove is partailly responsible for deforestation efforts.

Also how is this different then cig companies sponsoring "stop smoking now before its to late" ... its just strange.

  • Watch: Dove Onslaught(er) Talk to Dove, before it's too late!

  • hahahahahah, to fuckin late.

  • Girls grow up and compete with other girls for sexual attention (blame biology, not the media for this). To give themselves an edge, they use beauty products when available. The beauty industry capitalizes on this desire to be the fairest of them all, but it hardly invented it. I suspect this commercial hit a nerve because it is at bottom more about the sadness we feel when children grow up and become other people , in a sense, than anything else.

  • @devildoll1212 Oh, please. Since the beginning of time, human men have been the ones competing with each other for female attention.

Way to completely miss the fucking point. This has nothing to do with children growing up. It has to do with women being devalued and dehumanized based upon their looks and their sex appeal. It has to do with girls at a very young age judging themselves and others based on appearance. It has to do with us fighting every day to hold onto a shred of self-esteem.

  • i really love this spot^^

"talk to your daugter before the beauty industrie does."

And than a link to a campaigne from DOVE, which is no part of beauty industries? muhaaha xD

  • I agree that moderation is key...but there's a little flaw in your thought process there. Consuming extra calories alone will not shorten your life span. Consuming more calories (lets say 2500 a day instead of 2000 cause you're active) will not shorten your life span. Whatever you read was probably a correlation between consuming more calories and a shorter life span because there is a correlation between being overweight and disease, but its not the extra calories that kill you, its the fat

  • @niemakawy

Fair enough, and I get what you are saying

, but what I read had accounted for the correlation between being low cal and fit and active. I think it has something to do with calories literally being free radicals and calories literally shortening life span. I will try to find the actual study but, think of each time you eat you introduce free radicals into your body and they shorten your life so lead a simple low energy life with as few calories as healthfully possiblebiody

  • @ChiBriE30 Agree

  • Branding branding branding branding. Feel good about Dove products. Feel good about Dove products. Branding branding branding branding. Film student new hire hot shot ad execs Unilever corporate commodity market share demand supply SOAP SOAP SOAP. Branding branding branding branding. Buy Dove Buy Dove Buy Dove soap.

  • right, i mean cmon cool video but its coming from Unilever!!! which is the source of a bunch of the so called "onslaught" in the first place!? Good overall message but it is just weird when the Devil encourages you to lead a christian life

  • @chibrie, hahaha, great analogy. I agree completely. I still really like the video though

  • Just keep in mind that Unilever owns both Dove and Axe. It's just marketing. Nothing else.

  • Sadly, reality is even worse than this video would suggest. The media really has brainwashed us into thinking that we have to have the perfect body, the perfect skin, the perfect clothes. If we don't have these things, we run the risk of being rejected before people even get to know us. It's all pretty pathetic.

  • U can loose yur self esteem to feeling unbeautiful! This cen teach u a lesson

  • what song is in this commercial?

  • la breeze by simian :D

  • I wrote this book called BEAUTY: EXTINCT because so many girls think that by not eating or eating less they will get prettier and skinnier. They are wrong, and nobody teaches them that by not eating they will end up swelling and losing their beauty because of internal deficiencies to organ systems and blood. The book is only 40 pages long, it is short so it wont take long to read and its all about physical beauty. Email me at rankotutu at yahoo if you want a free book

  • kind of hypocrite commercial...

  • Funny how the star girl is actually a pretty little white girl. Kind of hypocritical.

  • @officialtylerhenry hahahah i like you.

  • this was a very well done commercial... but more importantly

DOVE IS DESTROYING THE RAINFOREST RAPIDLY TO USE ITS RESOURCES FOR THEIR PRODUCTS!!!

    DONT SUPPORT THAT!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @beautifullypossessed to be honest, i don't see anybody replanting more trees, and in the meantime, many animals are losing their food source and habitat and have nowhere to go. People can control how they think and I think that the rest of the world shouldnt have to suffer in order to take care of the human population's hygiene. Anyways, plants give us oxygen so if there are no more left, then everyone who survives from oxygen is going to die.

  • @ladylalafromlalaland I'm definitely more worried about the destroying of young girls' minds and bodies from media pressure, jmo.

  • fuck you , so you never use soap never use computer never use shampoo never use electrict, FUCK YOU!!!!!! what is destroy? mother fuck up!!!! And you go to hell !!!!! idiot!!!!!!

  • @ladylalafromlalaland maybe equally important but I would say more. This is in my opinion just as serious a subject and I think they high-lighted the issues very well, but I also understand your point.

  • @ladylalafromlalaland wow.. big words. But you know well this is just a little part of this truth.. we all live in this world not only them and other companies.. words can`t help.. do something.. you and every single people can do something for our planet.. Every little step is on the way for a big help.

  • @ladylalafromlalaland uh...excuse me...the environment is more important then self esteem issues???? NO, I DONT THINK SO!!!

  • @xcrazylilfluffyx Agreed. Yeah I love animals and the rain forest, but how many little tree frogs are going to starve themselves to death because another little tree frog calls them fat?

  • @ladylalafromlalaland wow you're retarded....shut up. (: thanks

  • @ladylalafromlalaland sources?

  • @ladylalafromlalaland It's not just Dove you know, it's the whole humanity.

  • @ladylalafromlalaland i thought if you buy dove it helps the animals

  • @Strawberry1139 I believe you mean Dawn, the guys who make dish soap. THEY actually help with something. Dove just wants profit.

Oh well. Good song, at least.

  • Dove is one of the biggest contributers to rainforest deforestation for palm oil plantations. It is one of the biggest users of palm oil from these areas and is helping to eradicate the rainforests forever...
