ok so how do you unlock a g1 phone when it lock itself as in you set a password and someone stole your phone trying to unlock it with password but ti lock itself and it said too many pattern attempts to unlock log into you google account to unlock your phone in fact you don't have one so how do i unlock that?

@allensanchez1990 Since its not a AT&T Branded phone so IMEI is not in their system they wont even know its a Smartphone so no they will not require a data plan. But I would make sure data plan is totally turned off and disabled otherwise end up getting overage charges cause you pre-paid for 0 data but then pay like $0.20 a KB

it gives you a confirmation that has been unlocked and then takes you through the setup screens but now you can use with ANY GSM Carrier.

not Verizon or Metro as those are CDMA Carriers and its a GSM Phone so wont work with those 2 carriers.. In the usa will pretty much work with AT&T and T-Mobile

yup just just get your USA unlock code unlock it and can put in any GSM SIM Card from any carrier in the world...... So should work as long as your carrier in Mexico is a GSM Carrier and not CDMA..

you dont need data plan all i did is borrow my friends sim card that has internet so it can verify the google account after it was verified it i just put in my sim card and went to delete the apn and thats it all i use is wifi and it updates just like if i had data plan .=]

well then you probably got someone at HTC who is new and won't remain there much longer as they suppose to tell you to call T-Mobile and T-Mobile will then tell you you have to be a Active Customer in Good Standing for atleast 90 days before they will give you the unlock code and they will only do it for you once in a 12 month period..

as stated numerous time (almost getting sick of stating it hehe) you can use with just Wifi only problem is phone will prompt you every so often to verify your google account. So if not near a open wifi and it prompts you you cannot verify your account and your phone will become useless until you are able to connect to wifi and verify your account. That said I wouldn't use it without a carrier data plan.

if you have data on your account is it for another phone on another SIM Card? If so then would need another SIM Card with another data plan...  Data plans are not shared across multiple phones..

correct gotta have a data plan to enter your google account info to unlock the phone to be able to even get to the screen to setup WiFi... So guess you could use someone elses SIM to do that but problem there is phone will every once in a while prompt you to verify your google account so if your out and about and not near a open wifi can't verify your account and phone would be unable to be used until you do get near a open wifi to verify google account.
