  • I'm sorry @wildcastr, I guess the guy in the video explained what is this liquid about, but I couldn't understand it very wel. Is this a prerequisite for the ecdysis? After drying itself, it moults? Thank you!

  • i always thought at night where the sound of crickets

  • I've been away from Africa 9 years now and, guess what? I miss these guys!

  • @Crowzena

Visit Florida, they'll dive you crazy eventually there's so many down here.

  • 2:11 semen of the cicada XD

  • ONE OF THESE FUCKERS HAS BEEN SITTING NEXT TO MY WINDOW FOR THE LAST 3 HOURS I CANT SEE IT BUT ITS LOUD AS FUCK

  • Annoying fuckers.

  • These cicadas look to be Aussies. They do not rasp legs against wings, they have muscles that vibrate drum-heads inside their hollow abdomens which act as resonating chambers to make their 'music'. At the start of this video, you see its abdomen lifted high, the orange colored plates below it help guide and 'shape' the sound emitted from a wide opening, normally covered by those plates when at rest.

  • did I just saw a cicada do a cum shot at 2:01 ?

  • @TheSilentDeath2 lol dude now i know where those random rain drops come in the late summer hahaha i shit you not

  • @BULLETS4DAYZ holy shit man, i think you're right!

  • thats one big butt

  • what do they taste like?

  • these f'ing things have been sent from hell-why did i move down south?!!!

  • i fucking love love love cicadas

  • haha........ peeping while you drinking

  • where do they live?

  • If that thing peed on me id kill that bitch.

  • from where i live they sound like: WEEEAWEEEEEAWEEEEEAWEEEEEAWEEEEAWEEEEE

  • Eww what are they peeing out?

  • This is VERY CLOSE to the "constant 24/7 sound/ELF'S (Electronic Low Frequencies) being blasted into our ears". I have to have music or video's ALWAYS playing to drown out this painful, irritating & harmful sound. I have had this constant noise hitting me for the past few yrs. Headaches ,nerve & eye pain...the vibration(s) can be so severe that it literally feels like one's brains are about to flow out of the ears. No escaping this sound, not even a tiny break from it. SO TERRIBLE!!

  • @HigherWaysWoman

Actually there are headphones that solve this problem.

BOSE is the best of the bunch, but there are others as well.

These headphones filter sound and erase only the certain frequencies, such as this cicade sound.

It is really effective and far better than sound dampening ear plugs i.e. you still can hear other sounds.

  • makes me sleepy...

  • Fuck, I thought krickets were anoying.

  • for all those that love it's song...this is what the ones in brazil near me sound like!! so ear-piercing i couldnt sleep last night

    /watch?v=8887Hfphv70

a couple of them take turns repeating the cycle so it's an all night loop

  • What is that liquid coming out of it's butt???

  • so they piss and eat? sounds familiar...

  • that is THE BIGGEST turnoff ever

  • so that's what men do after it rains....

  • for some reason....it was sexy until it peed like the buckingham fountain

  • cicadas have to be the most popped insect on the planet

  • They sound beautiful? ahah what the hell? they are the most annoying bugs EVER.

  • That's the sound of bugs taking a shit.

  • @cristianbam or maybe its releasing cicada jizz

  • the funny thing is that cicadas ( i think ) that they cant hear them self doing so loud

  • We had these in a tree in our back yard this year and they made this noise starting early in the morning until late at night. There were very many of them, noisey but interesting. Glad their gone now because now we can hear each other talk.

  • That noise used to scare me because

I never knew what the noise was when

    I was a little girl!!!

  • @IndigoCat17

I love that noise.... its not summer time for me until the Cicadas sing ...

  • @daveyohwhat

make sure you comment on every video on YouTube featuring a cicada to protect their rights. man, us humans sure are cruel!

  • im serious they look like flies.... what bug family are they apart of...

  • @Raxion496

Just that, bugs. They are true bugs. Related to tree hoppers, leaf hoppers, and distantly related to aphids. (Not related to grasshoppers).

  • @ulfsark9 so its like a trail mix put into one nut but bug style?

  • @Raxion496

Um... not really. They are their own species, they aren't a hybrid or anything like that. Every animal is related in some way to another. Dogs and wolves, obviously, but also bears. And Dogs and cats are related. Birds and reptiles much more distantly. Toads and frogs much more closely. Imagine all life as being a tree. Each leaf is a species, seperate from the others. But you might have two leaves on the same branch. That branch in turn is connected to another...

  • @ulfsark9 well as far as i know u know alot about these bugs so do u know all this stuff my studying and know it by heart or ru just going on google lookin up this stuff tryin to help me out?? either ty for the info

  • @Raxion496

A little bit of google to find out what they were related to, but animals in general being related to each other, etc... that's part of the theory of evolution. If you've never studied it, its good reading, especially when you find out the origins of some animals you'd never expect. Like how whales actually came from the same type of animal as the bear :-)

  • @Raxion496 The first part i admit i googled. The second part, describing how species are related, was my own poetic waxing ;-)

  • Cicadas do not rasp their legs or wings to produce sound. The sound is generated by the male, in a membranous abdominal cavity. They contract and relax the abdominal muscles of this cavity to produce the sound which resonates within the remaining hollow structure.

  • are these like a fly species

  • @Raxion496 No.

  • apparently they can deafen humans if close enough...

  • @BodomChildBreeder

I don't know where you heard that one, but i've held Cicadas in my hand. Yeah they are loud, but no louder than a car horn...

  • @ulfsark9 sum homepage facts list about strange insects... maybe it meant in large numbers? i wz pretty reaked out so i jumped on youtube and wikipedia straight away lol!

  • @BodomChildBreeder

I looked it up. Its the Bladder Cicada, from Australia, that can make you deaf. A different insect, though same family, than from the one shown here. You'd have to have the bug right next to ear though, as its call is at 120 dB, which is kinda the threshold of the human ear's tolerance.

  • @ulfsark9 ahhh coool... people are u reading this?? be careful with badder variety!! ok im gonna look it up now. Preety mad for such a small creatue to make such noise...although in terms of bugs the are pretty big bastards lol! cheers mate

  • What a neat insect, Wish they lived up here... The only singing we hear is the sound of Grasshoppers, but this is outstanding!

  • Grasshoppers don't make sounds, Crickets do, grasshoppers are nasty like locusts.

  • This is a most amazing video. Thanks. Tome

  • That Cicada had Cicada pee on his eyeball LOL.

  • in 2007 i holded them and caught them

my friend have about 20 of them on his hand

    i was LOL ing

  • So the sound comes from their ass?

  • @ndesqte No, it comes from their abdominal membranes pulsing inward and outward.

  • this fucking noise wakes me up at 5 in the fucking morning.

    annoying little boogers .......>.>

  • This is great. I miss hearing them. I grew up around them. I have heard they are considered a delicacy to some. Simmer them in olive oil and they taste like asparagus. I was going to try when I went back home but now that I saw this... maybe not.

  • Such a beautiful sound.

Listening to them on a hot summer afternoon with a brightly colored sunset.

  • Yes, of course, but listening to them near your window all the day.

    I CAN´T WOOOOORK

  • they annoy me now

  • I used to be afraid of them!!!

  • Cool cicada's squirting (2:04)

  • y do cicadas squirt like that 4?

  • I guess it probably has to do with mateing.. but it might also be "tbad toilet training" ;)

  • yeah, kinda weird or they are peeing because of that much juice they eat from the tree.

or hes having happy thoughts and is calling for a mate.

  • "happy thoughts" .. lol

  • You think they are noisy outdoors. Until one flies into your house and starts doing this. The enclosed walls with this creature will make you consider suicide once you realise you can't even locate the stupid thing. lol

  • lmao

  • your comment is dead on! LOL!! these things are way hard to find

  • CH CH CH CH CH CH CH

    o hold on

    psssssssssssssssss

  • The ones around where I live are even more high pitched, like a stinging ray sound.

Things hatch after 17 years, thats fucked up.

  • "Watching a cicada take a shit has now completed my life" - HAHAHA!

"lol funny i was hoping one of the squirt was going to smack right into the other one behind it."

  • Watching a cicada take a shit has now completed my life.

  • @ulfsark9

Huh, didnt know a Cicada generally has projectile diarrhea every day

  • lmfao!!!!

  • Actually, the sound isn't produced by the legs like crickets, it's produced by a tymbal in the males

  • sounds like a tire losing air

  • lol funny i was hoping one of the squirt was going to smack right into the other one behind it.

  • Fascinating.
