@sayhitodeath999 hahahah agreed mate! and yes its beautiful with its high peaks to the west and long plains in the middle and its natural forests to the east and its snow covered glaciers to the north! but its still not like Scotlands beuty!
All this talk about who did this and that. All I'd like to say is I just love the kettle drumming in pipe bands.... simple not complicated you idiots.
come on here to listen to a great tune and all i see are idiots saying who did what in the war, fact is we ALL would have lost had we not stood shoulder to shoulder against germany, and yes, England would still exist without America even if we had lost the war, On a lighter note, you didnt win the war of independence either, you didnt exist until it was over, so to a point we beat ourselves lol, Brits yanks Aussies, whoever, just be proud of who you are and quit your bitching lol
@jonathanSXo The Continental army was supplied arms by the Spanish. The Spanish attacked and captured West Florida with 8,000 men against less than a thousand British. The Spanish funded the final Siege of Yorktown! Also the entire payroll of the rebel army! 75,000 Spanish and 80,000 civilians attacked Gibraltar in the 3 1/2 year long Great Siege. The British garrison of 5,000-7,500 won. France sent 16,500 troops and a battle fleet to America. The Prussians sent military advisers to train rebels
The USA has more Scottish DNA coursing through the hearts of their citizens than any other ethnic group. When we realised that we just could not keep the damned Sassenachs out of our homeland (because we would usually accept the English bribes of land and titles) we started building English ships and sailing English ships and manning "English" regiments and then staying wherever we found ourselves, as far away from the POMEs as we could get. God Save Scotland. Someday, someday.......
Many of us think it is just absolutely disgusting the mass klling of innocent bears to make all these pathetic, hideous, useless and extremely ugly hats, at the cost of all those beautiful black bears. Not to mention the waste of tax payers money.
@MsBrutus64 maybe you should check your facts, the bearskins used by the british military are sourced from inuit hunters who are employed by the canadian government to cull black bears to keep the population at a sustainable level, yearly, the ministry of defense purchases 50 to 100 bearskins at a cost of around £600 each, this may sound like an expensive purchase but bearing in mind that there are currently several hats still in service that are over 100 yrs old this seems like a bargain
@Acodin144 - Sir, the French didn't seem to have a problem with the American efforts to liberate France in WW2. We lost a lot of good men in that action.....
@cjohnathand Americans liberate France... Implying that americans did it. "only" 1/5 (if not even less) soldiers were americans.
And that if there were no soldiers or officers from France or even Poland in american revolution rebels would had no chances to win entire revolution at all. But as I do remember americans didn't bother to help Poland in WW2 or at the Partitions of Poland.
@Zwei4815 haha then you must have been looking at a drag in a kilt because skirts arnt half n half like a kilt n a kilt is like plaid shorts with the leg separating things taken out n buckles put on with a sporran n it takes a manly man to wear a kilt which proves they can look good in it and not care what others think as well the kilt is a pussy magnet of its own
I can't agree with you anymore NS2698. My mother was proud of her heritage. This will be played this Friday at her Memorial service along with amazing grace on the pipes
A single man does not own a country nor a single people but with who ever the people have placed their trust and their lives in the hands of are those who would represent us and carry out our word as if it were there own, this is what it means to be a leader
@NS7698 You believe wrong, this a United Kingdom, and although the Houses of Parliament are in London, it is a body representing all the constituent parts of the UK
@GlasgowUpInSmoke the grenadier guards have no connection to any grenadier regiment so they have no reason to wear the bearskin. Bearskins were worn by grenadiers to make them look bigger. If theyre dragoons they should be riding horses and wearing cavalry helmets
@oJKBo They wear the Bearskin because they captured them during the Napoleonic Wars, and were the only Regiment at the time to wear a Bearskin Shako, and what pray tell does a "cavalry helmet" look like? The bearskin that the pipers wear, is much much different than the ones any Guards regiment wear, enless it's the Scots Guards Pipeband.
@oJKBo I think you'll find that they did take bearskins from the french, and I didn't say a bearskin was a shako, I said they wore bearskin shakos, which they did wear at waterloo and before. And no, they should not wear the helmet that the household cav wear, the Bearskin is a Regimental Tradition for the Scots DG, and the Greys before them.
@TheManthatSaidWhat no, they were told to wear them and given the name grenadier after defeating /real/ greanadiers. How an you wear a bearskin sako?? Thats like saying a turban baseball cap. They didnt wear bearskins before the napoleonic wars--why the fuck would they?? bearskins are for grenadiers to make them look big as they close in. Then dont fucking call them dragoons lol, dragoons are cavalry. So you gave grenadier to non grenadiers and dragoon to non dragoons LOLOL
@oJKBo Why are you talking about the Grenadiers? The Scots Greys were never considered grenadiers and never will, they are not a line regiment, they are not infantry so stop going on about the grenadiers. We are talking about a Cavalry Regiment, that took bearskins from the french and adapted them for their use, and a bearskin shako is a shako that has bearskin on it, it's not a hard concept. And if bearskins are for grenadiers, why did Scottish Regiments of the era wear them?
@TheManthatSaidWhat you mentioned them first. lol actually they got a bearskin from tsar nicholas--who was their colonel in chief lololol, not only did they have a non british colonel in chief, it was a king who was murdered after a revolution. um no, lol, a shako is it's own hat just like the bearskin. what you must be thinking of is a feather bonnet which isnt a bearskin but sort of looks like one, it has the hackle flopping about. what regiments?? lol
@oJKBo Tsar Nicolas gave them a white bearskin, which is still used today by their pipe bands bass drummer, and they had the bearskin before that, which was a shako type hat that was covered with bearskin. You were talking to someone else about the grenadiers and brought them into this. And i'm sorry but have you ever served in either the Greys or the ScotsDG? You seem to know quite alot about their Regimental history.
@TheManthatSaidWhat lol the shako type hat youre referring to is the feather bonnet the pipers are wearing. Bearskins are what the guys not marching around in carpets are wearing. Bearskins were used by grenadiers, the caps youre saying they were using would have been the feather bonnets. no lol, it's called google
@NS7698 you bet your ass mate! i'm American with Celtic blood and i love to fight and drink beer. i do have a few soft spots like listenting to this song however. Cheers!
@ViDeOMaStErPaUl Unfortunately few Americans even knew that the french were involved in the American revolution, let alone know that without them we'd still be a British colony. France's involvement is little more than a foot note in American history classes until college.
@IbnFawzi You err, sir, it is common knowledge. You forget our own involvement in saving your ass in WWII. Do you really think England would exist without USA? We'd do it all again, sir, and be glad to help our Mother country as we are quite proud of our heritage. Do not presume to know what we 'know' or do 'not know'. Peace.
@ViDeOMaStErPaUl Perhaps, but the fact that the Revolution was carried on so well in the south, forced Britain to divide her forces, which had more to do w/ the ultimate events in Yorktown than the French. We are grateful, of course to them for helping us. Speaking of help - after Dunkirk - who helped who? Who was with you at Normandy? USA and Britain are strong allies & I am proud of my roots in the UK. Peace
Really? What about the 30% of Pilots in the "Battle of Britain" who were from Non-UK countries then?? Forget about those Polish, Czech, Dutch, Danish, Canadians etc etc that Churchill was at least big enough to thank???
@DonegalRaymie201 Im aware of them don't worry, but they where a hand full of pilots, and not an individual nation.
In the context I was using I mean no single country came to the aid of Britain only the free people of those nations came to help out., We supplied the planes and they flew them. If it comes down to it you could say America saved us because an American squadren came to lend a hand.
But 1 squardren cannot save a country so obviously it doesn't work in the context.
"I mean no single country came to the aid of Britain..."
I think you'll find that EVERY single member of the Commonwealth, (bar 1!), came to your aid! And the USA was still Neutral, officially at least, so can't see how an "American squadren came to lend a hand", unless they switched uniforms?
I know that Canadian forces were based in the UK, from late '39 anyway.
@DonegalRaymie201 If you don't know about the American forces then you have not done your research.
Go to Wikipedia it would say the British Empire vs Nazi Germany as the major factions (Just checked both Canada and Italy was also mentioned :/), But all pilots used British planes except the American guys.
Its considered a Major Nation vs Major nation not a Nation backed up by 300 other nationalities/countries.
So im right Britian held off on its own without another nation.
Well, I know fine that the USA was Officially Neutral until Dec' 1941, and that the BoB was in summer 1940, so I don't see how American Pilots were involved in the BoB!
Feel free to try proving me wrong on that!
And are you really trying to tell me that Canada, Aus, New Zealand, South Africa etc, do NOT count as Nations in WW2??
@TRomecki94 Maybe not but we didn't need help defending against them. :D
Besides we beat Germany in WW1 and was the strongest country to come out of it. WW2 was fucked up by the French if they had the guts to attack (Along with us) while Germany was in Poland it could have been avoided.
@ViDeOMaStErPaUl Can't argue with you there mate. I always call it even between our nations when it comes to shaping the world (and shaping up Germany). Cheers
@NS7698 Don't know what this has to do with England??? Do you mean Britain are your allies which includes both Scotland and England??? This music is Scottish!
you gotta love em after all they are the best in the world I am scottish born now living in Australia and when i hear those pipes play it takes me back too Glasgow every time
@TheSchitt1 with all due respect to this band, they are far from the best pipe band in the world (actually a 'Grade 2 band'). I play in a Gr1 band with some ex RSDG's - great fellas.
Finest soldiers a man can have the Scots have been glorious to England and its brothers just look at the 47TH BLACK WATCH, Scots greys, and the Highland foot regiments :).
@AlienTechProductions I think somebody has been playing napoleon total war and came here and named all the scottish units in the game, also considering that the Black Watch was the 42nd it shows that you dont even pay much attention there.
Soon the Scots will have independence

Guys, what are you arguing with?
Without France there would be no USA now...
Most of revolutionists generals were french, I mean almost all of them.
All of revolutionists weapons were french, cash french, support french,
supplies french
Even Washington had a french "helper" in lead because he was that bad at commanding
It is that simple guys...
But still they will yell they did everything...

@TheSchitt1 with all due respect to this band, they are far from the best pipe band in the world (actually a 'Grade 2 band'). I play in a Gr1 band with some ex RSDG's - great fellas.

Every Scottish unit is historical in NTW mate.
Still regardless Scots FTW.
I love my games but i also respect the men who fell to protect their country explicitly the 42nd black watch devisions and the Scots greys.
