  • Bravo Avi.

  • BRAVO ISRAEL I LOVE IT

  • israeeeeeeeeeeeel♥

    israel 100%

  • israeeeeeeeeeeeel♥

    israel 100%

  • One more Mizrahi Jew making a mark in the world!!

  • I love this song!!

  • @thenewido Nonsense indeed....to even entertain the thought that it could be Ofra!

  • Swedish interpretation of this song:

    hem.passagen.se/achrister/Flash_7.htm

    :-)

  • Israel has the best songs.

  • 2:53 - the mic, second to the right, is knocked off.

  • same dancers as for Ofra one year later ??

  • OUTSTANDING!

  • Avi is very cute.

  • It's not Ofra Haza. Actually, around that time, she was more popular than Avi Toledano himself.

  • I grew up with Eurovision, this is one of my favourites...Thank you for sharing :)

  • 2nd :D

  • fantastic song!

  • @ Montezoma

    You are a racist idiot.

  • WOW!

    amazing!

  • one of the songs

  • Ofra Haza NEVER backed Avi Toledano in this song ! why are you spreading disinformation ?!

  • Problem is, Hora was a dirty dirty word in some Scandinavian states... lol.

  • jolie chanson d'Avi!

  • Did the stage designer know that there were 6 people allowed on stage?

Because this would have benefited from a bit more space.

  • The backing singer you mentioned is Aviva Avidan. Toledanu composed the song for Ofra Haza for 1983 Eurovision.

  • the backup singer is Aviva Avidan

  • Fantastic song from Israel. The other one is from 1991.

  • NICE !

  • so first Germany and second Isreal...I think is quite fair because both songs are very good!

  • what was the classification? This is a great song!

  • second.

  • nice song

  • Avi Toledano composed the song for ESC the next year that was performed by Ofra Haza. Your description is incorrect.

  • Perhaps one of the very few good songs entered by Israel.

  • Notice that NOONE of the backing singers is Ofra Haza!!!

  • That's NOT Ofra Haza there, my friend!

  • SEXY MAN :-)

  • i always fancied the blonde dancer

  • Ofra Haza NEVER do did any backing for this song!!

    your desciription is wrong.

  • What a WONDERFUL song!!!!!!! These are the days when the Eurovision was about singing with a real orchestra where the performance was important and not the stage props etc.

This song is so uplifting and song wonderfully!!!!!!!!

    Well done Israel

    LOTS OF POINTS FROM IRELAND

  • Amazing song, with an amazing performance. Those are the good, old days, when all there was to sing about was music, dancing and happiness.

  • Clouds still float over the city's houses

And the sea caresses the shore

And it's still heard, how within everyone's heart

An old song and a dance are beating.

    ...yeah, that's pure aggressiveness.

Why is the world so filled with people who apparently need to be hateful to stay alive or something?

  • The field we left behind then, still turns golden The earth still bears its crop And still beautiful are the nights in Canaan Before the sun rises The train still crosses the green orchard there A stork still rests above And the fog still floats in the valley Between the sunrise and the dew And also the hora, the one with the Hey! Its voice still rises, its voice is not stilled And this hora, the one with the Hey! Its song fills my heart forever
  • montezoma, even your comments are ignorance.

  • the uploader of this vid wrote that one of the backing singers is Ofra Haza because he wanted to have more views to this vid althought he knew it's not true

  • What the connection between politics and culture?? dont be antishemist.

  • Guess what, I was in Lebonon shooting at Arafat and his band of terrorists. To bad we didn't wipe them out then.

  • What's wrog, Arab? Are you jealous? What's up with all those Arabs coming to pollute Israeli (MUSIC) videos with their comments?!? Go find a video on how to make an explosive belt.

  • shir yafe meod

  • One of my favourite esc entries.

  • Ofra Haza is ***not*** one the backing singers. At the time Ofra was already a famous and honored singer in Israel, and no one would have dared of sending her as a backing singer.

  • I am spanish and i really love Israel

  • hora is a kind of folk dancing!!!

  • but in Sweedish it means "hore" and yet they give us many points :)

  • Yes it is.

    It's a traditional Israeli dance

  • I have no idea. But in Swedish Hora=Whore.

The chouros sounds like med gammal hora=with old whore

  • lol the chorus starts with "vegam ha-hora"

meaning - and also the hora (dance)

  • I've never heard about it either, 'cause I was born in the 90's...

    Wikipedia:

  • Folk dancing

  • What's Israel's connection to hora? I know for sure that hora is a Romanian folk dance. Can anyone please explain?

  • Yes , i think u right

even the anthem of Israel is Romanian Folk

    brang by Nafthali Herz Imber

    But we dont care :)

  • @AnaCiubotaru and Stumooos

The first jews to come to the land of israel in the zionist time were from eastern Europe. They brought along not only a rich jewish culture but also the local culture of where they came from. They were the founding fathers and pilgrims of contemporary Israel, and therefor the Hora dance which they brought with them is considered the most common Israeli Folk Song.

  • what a great song

  • wtf? u are an ignorant person! that is so untrue!

  • omg~~!!!@~! what a amazing songg!!!

  • Ofra Haza is not one of the backing singers....

  • love the song !!! israel is the best !!!!

  • @ronansex The best at killing people you mean? Like the Norwegian youths at utöya, which were killed by Israeli security service, as a punishment for Norway supporting the Palestinian state.

  • @legaata that is stupidity on such a colossal level. even breivik would laugh at this

  • That's not Ofra Haza in the beck.

The girl with the dark hair is Aviva Avidan.

  • @IritShalev now thery're both at the same show " eichal ha teilha"

  • Wonderful voilin- part!

  • i dunno 2 but people puting israen in all the European contests. i guess no1 really know =P

  • yes. to mention you.... most of the Israelis are Europeans. most of us returned to the state of Israel after 2000 years in the diaspora. today Israel is our home.

Israel is so European in everything. come to visit here and understand it and see it.

geographicly yes...Israel is in Asia. but thats it. becose cultural and other life terms we are very western and Europeans.

  • You mean the guys that started a war they were certain they gonna win and then decided to leave before seeing a single Israeli soldier?

Or do you mean the guys that devoured countless trillions of dollars of aid and enjoy their own private UN aid agency which makes their "refugee camps" the most attractive pieces of real estate in the western part of the middle east?

The imperialistic slavers of London and Norwich show their true racist face once more and teach others how to be 'civilized'...bah

  • open wikipedia or go to your local library and read some history books before making your faulse acusations against Israel. be more clever next time. then we can open real discation of inteligent people.

its like me will write wrong facts on your contry without truly knowing your history and your rights on your contry.

as for the last war....Israel didnt started it. but defenatly had the right to defend it self.

even that we are more powerful.

  • it's government may be European influenced because it is secular but the culture is very Middle Eastern/Mediterranean. For example the man singing this song is from Morocco.A lot of the Jews in Israel have ancestry that lived in North Africa and Middle East. It's culture is definately different from Europe.

  • Mizrachi8

im not saying that there is no eastern or midlle east culture in Israel. actualy this is why Israel is such wonderful place. having lots of cultures living in harmony together (in most of the cases) but you need to know one thing that is a demographic fact. most of the Israeli jews are from European contries. and this is not a thing i invented just now to make a fight over it :-) its just a fact of the interal afair office and the Jewish agency (Sochnot hayehodit).

  • great song! what does "livi le olam" means? "love forever " :P? "amor eterno" :D? hehehe I like this song. what does it say?

  • libi le olam- my heart is forever.

"hora be with the hey (the hebrew letter for describing god).

    her lvoice rises up

    her voice will not silent

    hora be with the hey

her song fills my heart for ever."

  • libi leolam = my heart forever

  • @Romitadinda

"shira memale" =her(the Hora's) song fills

"libi leolam" - my heart forever

  • He is so handsome!

  • where do u see ofra haza???

  • hora means in finnish Huora= whore xD :D:D

But nice song! i give 10 points!

  • OMG

    beautiful XD

  • i f-ing have always loved this song ever since i first heard it when i was three.

  • perfect skin

  • amon goeth

  • GOOD SONG !

    I LOVE ISRAEL

  • What a shame the stage was so small! It did not showcase their performance at all well. Still, despite the problems, they did an extremely good job of selling a catchy song and dance.

That poor girl, right into the mike. CRASH!

  • lol

  • she only hit it with her hand

  • hm nope... she droped it with her foot

  • great preforms! come on isreal!!!

all the germanis i wish for you to burn exctly like the song pis of shit! you are all jaluse about us! ¨hora¨ should won!

  • woho israel

  • Someone who know or heard about composer of Hora (II-nd prize 1982 to ESC)?

The name is Silvio Nanssi Brandes originated from Romania, had a group there very famous,

    Red and Black.

  • Silvio Nanssi Brandes conducted the orchestra here. Avi Toledano composed the song.

  • thanks for posting this video GO ISRAEL

  • why do you mention Hitler? how hostile can u be - shame on you ! this is only a song contest with people , flesh and blood from many counties. shame on u

  • Mais uma boa canção israelita.

  • Wonderful song!!

  • This is Aviva Avidan

  • Definitely NOT Ofra. In 1982 she was no-one's backup singer-she was famous by her own right.

  • Agreed No way is that Ofra Haza!

  • Shlomo Maimon looks so young. I guess I did too, in '82.

  • haha, on swedish 'hora' means whore.

  • LOL!

  • the people look l;ike divs but wonderful song

  • best israeli entry in esc ever... and beautiful "hora" folk dance... one of the serbian participants, Jelena, this year sings a song called "oro," which has a similar meaning. If she wins, we may see another folk dance this year in esc...

  • Wow, didn't hear this song since '82. Why doesn't Israel send these happy typical song anymore?

  • why can't I add a comment?

  • Lyrics in Hebrew and translation are at

hebrewsongs dot com (Look for Hora in the A-Z list)

  • You can also go to diggiloo dot net to see all the Eurovision songs with translations!

  • This is a disgusting lie. A lot of innocent Jewish people have been killed because of this kind of demonization.

Why can't we enjoy our beautiful culture without reading slander? Israel is always defending itself against terrorists and bigots.

Get a life and leave good people alone.

  • (excuse the repetition, I pressed "post" twice.)

The last message was, of course, the reply to the jerk named albedhaw001 who thought this was the place to throw dirt at Israel.

As for the brilliant Alex, hora simply means a circle dance common in Israel, which I think comes from Rumania. The word is from the Greek "xoros" meaning dance.

  • in sweden "hora" means "prostitute"

  • ofra haza is not one of the singers, this woman doesn't even look a little like her. anyway, by that time she was a superstar in israel, and wouldn't have been a back up vocalist.

  • the singer in the back is Aviva Avidan!!!

  • 2nd place.

  • in wich position does it finished?

  • My friend Fatima and I had forgotten how handsome he was. But we liked Nicole too.

  • This should have won easily instead of the dreadful Nicole!

  • loys of memories thank you so much

  • Nice song... really.

  • These days he even looks better than in 1982!!!!.......

    He's a real gorgeous!

    write אבי טולדנו

in google and see pictues of him

  • Yea Avi has always been beautiful and he has aged well! I think he turns 60 this year!

  • viva hora viva israel!!!

  • I love this song! Great!

    Sandy

  • Excellent!

  • It's almost the same choreography ;-) But I like it.. I say two words: "OLÉ OLÉ"! :-)

  • Not bad. At one time, most Israeli Eurovision entries followed the same format as this one- and it's a good format!

  • Just think to you'r self that like in Europe the pop was the bigest "thing", than 20 years ago "Hora" and songs like that was the bigest "thing" in Israel...

  • Wonderful song but that's definitely NOT Ofra Haza!

  • Too neat thanks for posting

  • HORA! Wow, still a fantastic song! Avi is a great singer, almost in the sme vocal class as Bruce Dickinson. I love the loud thud when the dancer on the right knocks over the microphone stand at 2:50. That's real passion! Long live Israel!

  • well that may be - but dont u tire of these "type" of songs which Israel churned out year after year - gets abit boring

  • it's not Ofra Haza behind him, it's Aviva Avidan :)

    there is only 1 Ofra...:(

  • very good quality
