I was at this concert and instead of explaining how beautiful it was to a friend, played them this. I was welling up with tears the day it was performed, and wasn't far off just now. Absolute beauty.
@dsignrdane I was lucky enough to be at this concert and was hoping all night that it would be played. When I heard it begin, my eyes welled up instantly. It's such a beautiful song.
I loved the part where she says and he pulls her apart long, long legged on top of the family tree. The way she raises her voice make my eyes water. Such a beautiful song with all the strings.
wow! this song is so deeply moving in so many ways.....it's breathtakingly beautiful and heartbreaking....bjork has such an intense way of moving the spirit, mind, and body all at the same time....i love her so much!!!!
Apparently, the lyrics to this were written by auteur filmmaker Harmony Korine. The arrangement, composition and mood suggest to me another striking song by Nico, off The Marble Index, "Ari's Song".
Bjork always strikes a deep cord within me when I'm listening to this song with headphones or surround sound...it just moves throughout the body like blood...almost uprooting for a mere second with how it arrests my attention, but very natural, moving, inspiring, and transforming nonetheless.
Wish I could have been there to hear it live...I would have had the most awesome fleeting thoughts...
This has to be one of the most tear-jerking tracks I've seen of the 'LIVE @ ROYAL OPERA HOUSE' series.
It really has this intimite vibe surrounding the entire atmosphere of the piece. I bet it would've been amazing being there, especially with the live strings, celesta and the choir.
this is one of my least favorite Bjork songs. while undeniably beautiful, it is the slowest and most going-nowhere song on Vespertine, and Vespertine can't afford to have one of those.
but this performance outdoes the recording. i love this gorgeous, tearjerking performance.
And you're perfectly entitled to. I agree that the lyrics are very good, and her voice isn't like, worse than other places. I just feel like it fails to completely grasp me, due to it's very slow, drawn out instrumental, i think. but not everyone has to think my way, so, it's okay.
I see where you're coming from. I guess this song is my favorite because it really hits me when I'm listening to it alone with headphones. It's so dark and beautiful.
I think Unison is my second favorite Vespertine song though!!
Yeah, you make sense, as well. I just don't agree with your view. Thought, like I initially said, this live performance is much more powerful than the cd's.
