They really didn't open up the playbook for him.

Everything was a quick pass or screen.

He takes too long making decisions in the pocket.

He has good mobility and can buy time but he needs to make decisions way faster.

Instead of scrambling and buying time just throw it to a check down reciever.

Ponder was the best qb in the draft IMHO. I think he didnt get the respect he rightfully deserved because FSU had a few less than stellar seasons & the media fawns over winning teams and or choir boy qb's w/ uber manly jawlines. I know hes white but hes faster than people think ( be they black or white lol). I will even go as far to say I think he is a more complete QB than Newton despite my pride in my people. I feel some times blk qb's dont get treated fairly and neither did Ponder.

I think Ponder looks fantastic. He is super athletic, very accurate/keeps his eyes down-field when needed. His awareness is amazing...the offensive line in this situation didn't provide much protection for him...and he was juking away from defenders and still making plays.

I can't wait to see what he does with the second stringers in Seattle : )

Ponder did a LOT with a little in this game. He's going to be very good once the game slows down, learns the whole offense and actually gets to work with the first stringers.

I absolutely LOVE how he sold the screen pass by looking to the left side of the field from snap, until the last minute to flip the screen. I think if you put the right players around him,, build a solid offensive line, he could be great. He's athletic, and has great agility, now he needs to work on his smarts. I'm from TN,, therefore,, a Titans fan. Jake Locker, and Ponder kinda remind me of each other.

@aclveg yeah, but there's nothing in his history that should be worried about in the future. Like with Stafford he's had multiple shoulder issues whenever he got hit hard, his knee too. Not showing a pattern for getting injured says it was mostly bad luck. He showed in 2010 he's tough, played most of the year hurt (his stock fell because of it). He was actually rated the #1 QB going into the season by Blesto & National. If not for the elbow surgery he was considered #1 by the NFL.

Brandon Fusco looks pretty good just judging by this game. He seems to hold his own on one on one blocks, he's big, and he's more agressive than Sullivan. I want to see him eventually take over for Sullivan who sucks.

Christian Ponder is going to be a heck of a QB for the vikings! This kid is good. Had it not be for two plays; the refs cheating (calling hands to the face on Brandon Fusco when replays clearly shows no foul) and the TE Risner dropping that 4 and 1 pass; Ponder might have had a touchdown pass or two in this game. But the point is he did what he had to do to convert the 4 and 1, its out of his control if the TE drops it.

Ponder shows quick feet, good arm strength, accuracy, patient, good decision making, and creativity on the field. Looks very good for a rookie quarterback who entered the league during a lockout.
