There is plenty of ferocity in this period of their work, it is arguably their best time, though fortunately they are still around and kicking it old school.
Some frontmen were just playing the role of the angst-ridden fucked in the head mentalists. Trent Reznor springs to mind (I'm sure it helped getting the groupies) Al Jourgensen was the real deal and there's a strange kind of comfort that someone is as fucked up and angry as yourself.
@jwood36 That Reznor was "playing a role" was a very stupid assertion, considering some of the things that have taken place in his life. I'm sure there's no need to bash him to make Jourgensen look better. Al doesn't need your help, clearly.
@Meburningyou Ok you make a fair point it just appears to me Reznor at least at the start of their career was enjoying the limelight, the only song of theirs I've liked was Closer. But I know nothing about his upbringing which again is a point I'll concede. But to be honest I couldn't give a flying fuck what you or anyone else thinks about it to be honest.
@jwood36 you bash Reznor yet you only know Closer? dude as a longer Ministry, SP KMFDM fan, hell, fan of industrial prior to NIN getting big, i gotta say, while hes not the best in the genre NIN make some quality material.
@jwood36 what? are you just hating him to hate him? head like a whole was the beginning guy lol. and how the hell do you like only Closer after hearing most material at the time? thats probly the worst NIN song, i really dont think you listened to NIN....
@hellchild65 Learn to read, I never said i hated him i insinuated he was a poser, am i not allowed to do that, am i not allowed to have an opinion. I couldn't care less what some faceless plank on youtube thinks of it, so if you don't mind.....
@briands1993 Their "synthpop" material was actually pretty good in my opinion. You just gotta hear past the sound of the instruments and more to the lyrics.
@v73k1 actually Al/Ministry is pretty much Trents idol, as late as 06 Trent told people on the radio (i believe opie and anthony you can find the interview on here too) that Ministry is one of NINs biggest and continuing influences, and Trent is pretty damn picky when it comes to music too
