I wasn't mad at all, I have no probs with olli being "the bride" if that be the case. Every gay show I watch it seems like people are warning against or offended if a gay character is too feminine, but the fact is that feminine gay guys do exist, and what I think is offensive is that people are so upset by it and are trying to eliminate it (it would seem). They do exist, and I don't think anything is wrong with it. Some even prefer it.
A lot of gay guys fit with the stereotype and a lot of us don't. I don't get why some of us are so sensitive about the media showing stereotypes.
This just shows us that even our own can have ignorant prejudice. Being feminine isn't a choice any more than being gay is, for some guys it's just their nature. I don't get what's wrong with pointing out that some guys are that way. The media shouldn't try to generalize it or hide it, just show all type of gay people just like with straight people.
@IceGuyProd The thing though is that the stereotype of the effeminate gay man has been overrelied upon in the entertainment media. This representation has overwhelmed those that don't hue to it. No identifiable group cares to be stereotyped, even if stereotypical people exist among them: Germans, Blacks, Russians. Jews, women, etc. The problem is that the media has failed to show a variety of types of gay people "just like straight people."
You're right with what you're saying, but I think that especially Chris and Olli aren't a stereotype couple at all. The bride thing with Olli was supposed to be a joke and I don't think it's bad at all. And Chris was the one who has been carried into the flat, so they are even.
There are various types. I just don't get why all the people always want gays to be typical heterosexual. "They're like us, so it's okay." I think it's more about exepting the differences.
My point is that, can we please stop associating cleaning, whining, being needy, crying, being weak, being over-dramatic, being scared of ponies, or whatever else with being a woman? If we can just assign personality characteristics to PEOPLE, then we need never have these discussions about feminine and masculine traits again. And as for sex. . . let's all just listen to Roman Wild and stop being so boring! ;)
I think the problem is that we still have these stereotypical ideas about men and women in the first place. Forget gay relationships for a second. I'm a straight woman and I had absolutely no problem with Olli being the "bride". My gay friends also call each other "girlfriend" and things like that. But I think these girls were trying to protect gay men against being stereotyped.
@ichglotzutube Stereptypes work in various ways. They afford us information on how we should or should not behave. They are not always bad. This is simplistic but, if we did not stereotype every time we pulled up to a traffic light we would not know what to do. There is truth in all Stereotypes and for most gay men they don't matter. We are first and foremost men. We think like men, gay men, but men. Unlike women in simialr situations, we don't feel limited by these stereotypes. We embrace them.

Interesting discussion! I myself have been intrigued to note that straight women seem to be equally attracted to both Olli and Christian. That is, for those women who are turned on by men, both of these men possess an equivalent range of male charms. Just as they both (like many men) also possess qualities which people tended to see as "feminine". Plus those distinctive individual features which have never known gender. Like Christian's love of ... food. Something I can identify with myself.

Have you ever heard a group of gay men talking- it's all girl, miss thing, bitch, her, she- we rarely use the masculine form. Olli is not effeminate, neither of the guys are, but he is more refined than Christian.

I wish the poster who goes by the name of ETSINTERIORS would just shut the fuck up! He's made himself the self-appointed expert on what it means to be a gay man, and he's certainly not an expert by any stretch. In his remarks about such matters he constantly uses the pronoun "we" as if to speak for all gay men and how they experience their sexuality. His implied expertise is beyond annoying. If he spoke specitically for himself, it would be a different story. .

I wasn't mad at all, I have no probs with olli being "the bride" if that be the case. Every gay show I watch it seems like people are warning against or offended if a gay character is too feminine, but the fact is that feminine gay guys do exist, and what I think is offensive is that people are so upset by it and are trying to eliminate it (it would seem). They do exist, and I don't think anything is wrong with it. Some even prefer it.

A lot of gay guys fit with the stereotype and a lot of us don't. I don't get why some of us are so sensitive about the media showing stereotypes.
This just shows us that even our own can have ignorant prejudice. Being feminine isn't a choice any more than being gay is, for some guys it's just their nature. I don't get what's wrong with pointing out that some guys are that way. The media shouldn't try to generalize it or hide it, just show all type of gay people just like with straight people.

@IceGuyProd The thing though is that the stereotype of the effeminate gay man has been overrelied upon in the entertainment media. This representation has overwhelmed those that don't hue to it. No identifiable group cares to be stereotyped, even if stereotypical people exist among them: Germans, Blacks, Russians. Jews, women, etc. The problem is that the media has failed to show a variety of types of gay people "just like straight people."

You're right with what you're saying, but I think that especially Chris and Olli aren't a stereotype couple at all. The bride thing with Olli was supposed to be a joke and I don't think it's bad at all. And Chris was the one who has been carried into the flat, so they are even.
There are various types. I just don't get why all the people always want gays to be typical heterosexual. "They're like us, so it's okay." I think it's more about exepting the differences.

My point is that, can we please stop associating cleaning, whining, being needy, crying, being weak, being over-dramatic, being scared of ponies, or whatever else with being a woman? If we can just assign personality characteristics to PEOPLE, then we need never have these discussions about feminine and masculine traits again. And as for sex. . . let's all just listen to Roman Wild and stop being so boring! ;)

I think the problem is that we still have these stereotypical ideas about men and women in the first place. Forget gay relationships for a second. (I know it'll be hard, with this adorable video right up there.) :) I'm a straight woman, and people actually said I was the man and my boyfriend was the woman in my last relationship. Why? Because he was more whiny and needy, and first to express his feelings. But OBVIOUSLY he was the man, because, um, he had the penis. :) Sooo . . .

There's nothing wrong with the nature of the discussion going on with this episode's comment thread. Challenge and confrontation. Something like this has had to happen for a long time here. Or to put it more accurately to this degree.The gay people in most every society and how they're regarded is a major issue of this age. Christian looks so happy when he's got Olli seating on his leg & food in front @0:40 to 1:00. But Olli need to watch out for your husband's diet as I'm scared to see a big belly Christian soonest. @ETSINTERIORS Approximately 50% of the viewers are men and I guess 99% of them are gay so you're definitely not alone here. I'm a straight woman and I had absolutely no problem with Olli being the "bride". My gay friends also call each other "girlfriend" and things like that. But I think these girls were trying to protect gay men against being stereotyped.

@ichglotzutube Stereptypes work in various ways. They afford us information on how we should or should not behave. They are not always bad. This is simplistic but, if we did not stereotype every time we pulled up to a traffic light we would not know what to do. There is truth in all Stereotypes and for most gay men they don't matter. We are first and foremost men. We think like men, gay men, but men. Unlike women in simialr situations, we don't feel limited by these stereotypes. We embrace them.

Interesting discussion! I myself have been intrigued to note that straight women seem to be equally attracted to both Olli and Christian. That is, for those women who are turned on by men, both of these men possess an equivalent range of male charms. Just as they both (like many men) also possess qualities which people tended to see as "feminine". Plus those distinctive individual features which have never known gender. Like Christian's love of ... food. Something I can identify with myself.

We, as beneficiaries, could do something, we gained a lot, and VL gained even more w/ the exposure worldwide made possible by Nanna's consistency and dedication all these years. If nothing was done I think we should write to Grundy UFA TV and ask them to provide her some form of support or incentive, it is deserved, don't you agree?

I keep looking at the comments and I am really confused. Why are people taking this bride/groom, mas/fem thing so seriously? Maybe it's because I'm a man. I don't see the big deal. Noone is seriously saying that Olli is a woman. Why would he want to be? He is, however, more refined than Christian and I can see why the more feminine traits would be attributed to him. I think you all need to step back and see this for what it is- a loving couple sharing their love with their friends.

@egoldston100 Gay men typically are not offended by being called by feminine titles or pronouns. We are not so politically correct where that is concerned. Have you ever heard a group of gay men talking- it's all girl, miss thing, bitch, her, she- we rarely use the masculine form. Olli is not effeminate, neither of the guys are, but he is more refined than Christian.
