..to exclude anyone..no matter how they come to god...the issue is to allow all gods children to his alter. many conservatives wish to narrow the way, while liberals ask god to take them as they are and open his arms to them, not close them off. religion is to bring love, understanding and compassion to all god's children. i fear, the narrowing of the way has alienated so many people that religion is loosing more than it gains. by thiss, i think all pasters and priest do god a great disservice.

@mcharthern i also wanted to comment. everyone takes the word of the bible word for word literally. beacause a title was not granted to peter as pope, that does not mean that peter was not his chosen successor. in tradition peter is depicted holding 2 keys...jesys left him in charge as head of his church on earth. he went to rome asn established jusus' church. the second pope was linus, he was peter's successor and after him and so on and so on. this can be traced for almost 2000 yrs....

You're right! Constantine started the Roman Catholic church because the previous wars against their own people who converted to Christianity wouldn't submit to the king was weakening the kingdom. So he faked a conversion and placed a "Holy Pope" as his go-between for the people to submit to. The Pope is subject to the king and the people became subject to the Pope.
