Sooo...When punk's done with complaining about society they commercialize themselves abusing a rock icon that could actually play an instrument.
It thought all those 40yr old farts still wearing black (and still complaining) would have learned to tune their instruments properly by now...So I guess you're right. Punk is not dead, it is still very well in their infantile stage.
If you don't get this, you probably never will get punk rock. This is a real punk anthem...it punks the punks. If you get upset like a little girl, you are getting schooled.
John Paul Jones needs to put down the angry and work on his songwriting and recruit a new singer. How good a singer could someone from Zeppelin find if they try? What the fuck is his problem? Maybe there's a reason Page/Plant didnt contact him.
The bass playing, and production are great. Why is he pissed at punk rock. It ended in about 1980. Just because they hated Zeppelin, who cares.
i'm not gay or anything close to it, but you know with all that hype back then about plant or page being such lookers, old jonesey was a pretty handsome devil himself.
@ozoneocean you are right and i was wrong to make that comment. i did catch myself 3 weeks ago after i made it if you look back. i did apologize, but i'll apologize again for all to see, i'm sorry.
Surprised my comment^ got 44 thumbs ups. Anyway, in The Song Remains The Same, I thought JPJ was the best actor in the movie. The part where he reads to his kids and then gets the phone call... "That's tomorrow..." So, his voice in this song, not technical singing, sounds like he has feeling in the same way an actor does. He could have done/can do movies if he wanted/wants to.
i must have missed something, like the video title, i was curious to see what he was upset about. irritating how these people drag you into a video, then its something or somebody else.
He's calling corporate "punk" a fraud. And it is. You have made the angryangry millionaires because they can sneer and spit into a mic. Fucking foolish children.
@Ariel62073 I think he was just making fun of all punk rock at the time. You can see why- coming as he did from one of the hardest, heaviest rock bands of the era, and also having a wealth of overflowing skill, talent and experience, and there's these pimpled, greasy, swearing kids, with almost no skill or ability who merely imitate heavy sounds, screaming pointless lyrics filled with childish vitriol. To him they must have seemed particularly buffoonish and inadequate.
@Ariel62073 u are beating a dead horse . Humor is lost on the average rock fan I guess. Any rock song now has to be written by an ill adjusted manic depressive heroin addict whose Mother mistreated him .Thanks Cobain
Saw JPJones appear out of nowhere when he played LIVE with Heart on their "The Road Home" CD shows at the Backstage Tavern in Seattle (not the Video shows... they were later at the Moore Theatre in Seattle)... in about '96 I think.
I like this. It made me smile. Killer bass + guitar, vaguely silly vocals. Reminds of some of Hawkwinds more heavy tunes for some reason. I've often felt JPJ puts his bass too low in the mix and needs to just plain show off some more. How can he still be so humble?, he rates high in the pantheon of greats and I'd love to see him do a thunderfingers. All that aside, a fun tune.
JPJ oughta smoked a few packs a day for a month, sucked on a car tail pipe, gargled with asphalt, and then imagined his mother being raped and children murdered.
THEN the voice might of sounded on point.
But sick instrumentals laid, and what else should we expect?
all 4 zep's are what made them great, jpj, bozo, pagey and percy..... why is anyone surprised when one of them turns out an awesome solo venture? they are/were after all, led fucking zeppelin! do you expect sub par performances?? ZEP FOREVER!! And yeah, this sounds pretty punk..... luv ya JPJ
Led Zeppelin was playing punk riffs back when John Lydon was a scrawny little David Bowie fan. The Ramones stated they used to cover Communication Breakdown a lot. Butthole Surfers, Killing Joke, Black Flag, Quicksand and even more modern hardcore bands like Converge have cited Led Zeppelin as an influence.
@KingsField418 He would have been backing vocals on live "Battle of Evermore" , but that studio recording is the only Zeppelin song that had a singer outside of the group join ... Sandy Denny . So it was Plant and Sandy Denny singing Battle of Evermore back in 1971. She sadly died rather young.......by the way, this song "Angry Angry" is great - I love his almost Sex-pistols sounding voice sometimes and the humour in the lyrics
Who are the thirty jackoffs that put a thumbs down on JPJ you know that man has banged more women then all you fuck sticks combined you people should be ashamed of your selfs............
@GeorgeCassells Is he my friend, he pwns most musicians ass. By the way, i saw in an interview to jimmy page that he admitted that without jpj in the concerts, he will loose tempos
I cannot possibly believe such a great songwriter and rediculously talented bass played would churn out this garbage. HOW! I mean he still has ears, this is terrible. I do not understand at all and in fact this has blown my mind.
Oh jeez... will you people PH-LEEZ get off JP's back about his singing..? I kinda like his voice, actually. It's like a weird cross between Ian Drury and Sid Barrett... LOL.

@elpndl94 yea man..ray charles , chuck , bob..love them..they've made awesome shit..and got the recognition they deserve...but that still doesnt mean slash is overrated..i highly dont think so dude..the guy is magic..the emotion he transmits on guitar is phenomenal...just listen and enjoy all of em true , honest artists :) he's most definately not overrated..speed has nothing to do with anything
@dannyhood66 Maybe so? I did not think he was into it? Or any members from Zep? But i really don't know about the guys in zeppelin being into punk rock? The guys in aerosmith where totally into the sex pistols big time..
