omg thank you soooooo much!!!! I need to make myself one because i have killer cramps sometimes. and my grandmother made one for my mom that i use to use when i still lived with her!
@xinfamousxchiqx Any DRY, UNCOOKED rice. It really doesn't matter. I try to find the cheapest availabe-the kind that comes in the plastic bag (rather than a box of uncle bens ;) ) much like purchasing DRY beans at your grocery store. I enjoy using dry beans as an alternative to rice at times! Beans are larger and tend to last longer than rice, making replacement time later than had you used rice.
@iVVES Nothing. Essential oils are just preference. Rice bags have a distinct smell, it doesn't smell bad, but essential oils can both make the rice smell better as well as beneficial when working with aromatherapy. Again, essential oils are not necessary, it just depends on your preference and whether or not you want to get that creative.
@cssobe Hi, Yea I ended up substituting cinnamon in and I used beans instead of rice. It still turned out pretty good and it smells pretty great too. I've had it for about 3 months now and the smell is still there. Thanks!
@iVVES Great! I'm glad it turned out great! I noticed how old the video was and wasn't sure how often the maker of it was checking on messages and such-I figured since I know the answers-I could help you out considering you'd been waiting a while, though I am sure that didn't keep you from waiting to go ahead and make your own! :) Happy Sewing!
Can i fill it with something else? like beans or something and ill love to make one on the go like when i have cramps ill just get a sock some pins and some rice and slip it in the microwave
Thanks so much. It's exactly what I've been looking for, these instructions. I had a cyst on my breast bone, and I used a sock of rice. It was so comforting that I thought that I have to make the bags for gifts. Store bought stuff is never as nice!!! Your instructions are great, simple and straight to the point. Awesome!!!
I've been making these for several years!! I get great comments on them!! I have some friends that are cold natured and they use them just for the warmth! However!!
I do a "pillow sham" effect.....the inner bag has the rice and the outter bag can be replaced...and most importantly...washed!! I find that "baby flannel" is the best in my opinion...and muslin for the rice bag
You can use pinto beans, kidney beans too, i have one right now(:
