  • @JackFox13 Mick Karn was a master on the fretless bass, I was hoping it was him but alas.

  • Who else feels like this song is about masturbation?

  • I think this is the most beautiful track from The Ninth Wave. Defiantly one of my favorite songs from Hounds Of Love.

  • this song is somewhat sounds romantic to me..

  • Those background vocals just reach deep and unravel my soul. Or should I say backwards vocals. Makes me look over my shoulder.

  • This track is like if Japan had Kate instead of David Sylvian, it's really quite brilliant!

  • @brokenwall20 I couldn't agree more. I do dig that slidey bass.

  • toujours sublime !!!

  • timeless

  • I love this woman's songs - there is nothing else that hits you in the same place. If she were French she'd be a national hero. She is an inspiration for all to be themselves.

  • 2:18 ... SO awesome.

  • I love the freakiness of the second half of Hounds of Love, the nightmare songs especially... it's chilling and amazing.

  • Even when I don't like what she does, I'm glad she does it. I love this track btw. x

  • Bits of this are just so creepy!

    Creepy but amazing!

  • If you asked me to pick my top 10 Kate Bush songs how could I not put Watching you without me in there? If you asked me to name my top Kate Bush song, on what grounds could I rule it out? It's mellow, it's mysterious, it's quirky, it features a voice dripping like honey, and later on it moves up so many gears. It's quite beautiful when the waves crash and the sound of the seagulls comes in. It's as if it's pointing to Aerial 20 years later (try An Architect's Dream for its equivalent).

  • I so want to know the lyrics to this song. She is amazing. Been listneing to her for years. Awesome.......

  • This is a masterpiece!

  • I once dropped acid and in the peak of the trip lay in a darkened room and listened to the whole of the second side of this album.

  • This is a really nice, smooth song.

  • ...kate

  • This is a once in a lifetime realisation of music........i own over a thousand cd's and this is the best...

  • Have loved Kate's music since the early 80s - still a huge fan. This one touches me very deeply.

  • What a gem.

  • she's magical.

  • To the young posters below - Welcome to Kate. Glad to see there's life out there. Kate's brilliant, always has been. I've been listening to her for 30 years. You're so right about so many having lost connection with good music. You're so very, very right. But at least *you* haven't, right ? What a pleasant rarity. Cheers!

And yes, this is probably my favorite album in my entire collection. On both CD and vinyl...

  • I'm only 21 years old & I love her music.

  • @VinceVolta your age shouldnt matter

  • @VinceVolta I know age shouldn't matter but it does. Most people around my age & younger have lost connection with good music. Any ways Kate Bush is awesome.

  • @VinceVolta Hey mate, i do know how you feel, i'm 17 and have been a kate fanatic for years haha, you can probably tell by my username.

  • @VinceVolta I can relate. I got hooked on Kate Bush music since my 19th birthday. Now at 27, I'm in the same shoes with ya on the modern stuff. Long live the 80s!

  • Best album ever made!

  • the hounds of love is seriously the best album ever

  • This is music , from the mind of a genius .........Thank you Kate Bush

  • yovra1964 your knowledge of music shows your inability to read album sleeves with their thanks and dedications to guest artists!!!!....its spelt M.I.C.K. K.A.R.N. !!! not danny thompson !! (a brilliant bassist in his own right...ie john martyn)

  • and of course dannys most famous contemporary.....john martyn !!!!

  • bigdoghat.....you no nothing!!!!!

  • the bass is by mick karn (ex japan).. he is a brilliant bassist!!!..no need for anything but talent!!!!!

  • @meke92blud : It's upright bass-legend Danny Thompson (featured on many mid-to late-'80s albums of David Sylvian and Talk Talk)

  • no words, just feelings, and they r the best any one or any thing awakes in me...thx Kate

  • Best Album of the 80's by far- its a masterpiece.... way ahead of her time.... Thanks Dave Gilmour for giving her a helping hand at the beginning!!

  • What IS that instrument used in the bass line?.....a bass guitar, double bass , cello or what.?....it's sound is incredible......i love everything about this song!

  • @weeeeoooow It's an upright acoustic bass with a lot of the natural sound of the room it was recorded in as a part of the sound. Usually done with two mikes, once close mike picking up the instrument and one further away, picking up the sound of the instrument in the room. Although in this case it sounds like the room was miked with two mikes as it's spread out in stereo

  • Gotta love Kate!!

So uninhibited in her musical quirks......love this....very primal and trippy....love the backwards vocals.

  • This was One of my fave albums in 1985, this song is so great

and a treasure on hdphns, as is this whole album.

    oooh, such great sound, also.

  • How have i never heard this before?.......Magical!

  • One of my favorite songs from the album. I never listened to it the whole way through until yesterday and I'm in love. Kate's music is still touching people to this day.
