GREAT GREAT SHOW! That is the best Jim Diner i ever saw and I think it is the best work in the show. There is an excellent youtube of Rauschenberg explaining the erased DeKooning- it is well worth watching:

The Dubuffet is part of his "Memory Theaters" series. It is interesting to note that Warhol, at about the same time, was doing his Retrospective paintings. The same idea is behind them...
Thanks for this visit of mini-moma. When you go close-up to the Jensen, it reminds me of Chuck Close seen from close. Do you think the latter was influenced by the former? I've always thought that Rauschenberg's Erased De Kooning was also a statement of how great De Kooning was as an artist.
Check out The New Mastersounds. They are different.

I can't believe J.Saltz included this show in his 10 worst art events of the year...

The orange Ryman is 1955 completed in 1959. His first white paintings were painted over orange I think. I love this video. Humble thanks, James.

Many of these paintings do not "photograph well". Great work. Some real heavy hitters here!
