@TinkFaintree Send to Brussels, yes. Personally I'd wait until second generation tests come out from America at Nevada University based UNEVX. Brussels can do the culturing now though (growing virus). So that could be worth a shot. That will take longer due to the fact MLV's hide in tissue and the source of MLV's (viral reservoir in body) is not known.

It makes me mad that Van Der Meer says, "clearly this virus isn't fatal." He's tripping! Want to tell that to all the ME sufferers who've been in pain and immense suffering for YEARS if not DECADES who've died from complications caused by ME, that would otherwise have lived a long & healthy life! Or those who just can't face another day of pain and commit suicide. Yes, Van Der Meer, this virus can most definitely be fatal!

XMRV/MULV is total vindication for people with neuro immune ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) .Get tested if possible. The second you test positive, you cannot have the erroneous political illness 'CFS' because 'CFS' means 'unexplained' chronic fatigue.

An infectious retrovirus is not 'unexplained' it is explained. Anyone with XMRV/MULV, must be seen by an infectious disease specialist/immunologist and NOT by a psychiatrist and palmed off with CBT/GE/Pacing or silence. Know your human rights.

The news was also largely ignored by the Dutch mainstream media,except this great item on TV a few days ago.I know how bad the situation is in the UK.

In Belgium the new findings got more media attention because of prof. De Meirleir's involvement.

Controverse? Laat me niet lachen. Als er een 'wetenschapper' in Nederland is geweest die een negatieve draai heeft gegeven aan deze 'controverse' dan is het wel deze professor van der Meer. Als deze man over enkele jaren met pensioen gaat en terugkijkt op zijn wetenschappelijke carriere kan hij maar een ding doen; zich die schamen!!!

Zijn bijdrage aan de bestrijding van deze ziekte is totaal verwaarloosbaar gebleken.

A new day has dawned in Europe for our fellow ME sufferers. We are now on the right track and the truth is coming out.. finally!! Thank you for always believing the ME patients and doing the biomedical research Dr. De Meirleir and I'm glad to see Dr. Van Der Meer is acknowledging it now too.

Van der Meer blithely states, "This is clearly not a deadly infection". Tell that to the ME patients who have developed endothelial inflammation, fatal viral cardiomyopathies and/or Mantle Cell Lymphoma.  It is gratifying to see Van der Meer's stunted learning curve immortalized on YouTube. Shame on the psycholobby for the decades of abuse of seriously ill ME patients. Thank heavens for the independent thinkers who have had the humility to listen to patients saying: "We feel fluey."

@Parvofighter Good points. Van Der Meer is the man who produced the negative XMRV study with the British. Of XMRV in CFS, he said ''I'm done with this''. It's obviously very embarassing for him the FDA replicated the findings of the Lombardi XMRV study of CFS patients. What is telling is he refused to appear on TV on this sation before, saying Dr De Meirleir does not ''tell the truth''. So the good news, he can sense change is coming. Peace.

@thx1138mindlock Yes, as we know, he's one of the charlatans waging the war on ME science. Like some of the other negative studies he studied tired people without any known illness, not ME patients, then lied and said they were ME ("CFS") patients. And of course, ME is sometimes fatal.
