  • Watch my video responce for hebrew speakers

  • I sould have said that i 'paint' the scratched stem that I place in the rooting mix, before bagging it all up.

  • @TheLoneWolf52 Good tip LoneWolf. Thanks for watching and for the comments!

  • Yep, I like spagnum too, and I cheat a little with bigger plants and put a tiny amount of rooting hormone powder on the bigger woodier plants I'm air layering. I've had great results!

  • Thanks darktard!

  • I like yo hat

  • u look like my landlord

  • Is there any alternate to moss, that you can probably make at home like dead moist grass?

  • @LTF85199 - Sure, just use potting soil or compost.

  • @skiprgarden Sir, do you might know the scientific explanation on how this technique is different from just cutting the branch fully off and putting it in a pot with potting soil? also every video on youtube about air-layering recommends sphagnum moss, which is a type of a fungal plant... i guess I am going to try potting soil and see how successful I get , thanks for the quick reply.

  • i'm thinking about trying this with my french lilac

  • isn't that called marcotting? just a wild guest.........

  • @TheMafiaHernandez - Yes, marcottage is an older term for "air-layering". That term has fallen from use and more dictionaries don't even list it! Thanks for watching the videos!

  • I have olive trees in my work plays garden so now we are in the beggining of winter..is getting cold at nights..i choose a medium strait branch from the bottom of the tree..will it root in the midle of winter or maybe in the spring??

  • @andreilucaci81 It should root in about 6-8 weeks if you use a rooting hormone and select a branch that is a year old or less. That said if you have a hard freeze that will damage the rooting section and in fact can kill the tree back to the ground if it gets cold enough.

  • @skiprgarden Temperature rarely goes below 2C in the winter..and maybe for few days at night..usaly it's around 10 night and 20 day...we have still warm temp. 28C day ... i hope till it gets cold it will produce roots..

  • great explanation! nothing short of what I would expect from a fellow Ag. WHOOP!

  • does it work on branches that hang down?

I tried it with an acerola tree and the branch died. lol

  • @haskella45 It should work on most plants. However the thicker the branch, the longer it takes. Also some species - such as pines - take much much longer, while others - such as Willow - are very very quick.

  • @graycam Does it work on pines? Because it's imposible to propagate from cuttings..so if it works with aer layering it's cool

  • @haskella45 - Yes it does!

  • Well done... I'll be trying this for sure. Thanks for this Skip .

  • thanks, alot less confusing then i thought :)

  • Short and to the point I like it.
