What's being said in the chorus of the song is "Raam bach aaye mujhe Raama bach aaye" God(Ram) help, God help me, but Trinis think they're hearing "Raam bajai" bajai means "play" (as in an instrument...i.e. Dholak bajai-->you can youtube that one..the soca/chutney remix is called beat di drum. Youtube "Ram bajai" too and you'll find videos of Trini girls dancing chutney :D

No. In Hindi, "Awo chhale nache" means "Come let's dance." "AUR chale nache" would translate as "And let's dance"....I just got done explaining that. I speak Hindi btw...

Why make a big problem out of it? I also speak hindi. This song is half hindi and bhojpuri. I also speak bhojpuri btw. The ancestors of trini's and gt are speakers of bhojpuri. This song is btw a cover from a band from holland. They didn't copy everything right.

Yeah, I know it's half bhojpuri. It's the part I barely understand because I only speak Hindi. lol I'm also Trini...I know where my ancestors come from and that this song is a cover of Au Tjele Naatje. It's not a "big problem", I'm just remarking on this AS WELL AS chutney music in general...I mean, I just feel that if you're going to speak a language...speak the language.

@happybuddha33 not trying to like start a debate or anything but are you trinidadian? b/c i have a feeling the language would have been bastardized during indentureship. Is it possible that while you're correct to indo-trinidadians there is little distinction? or the word "Aur" has evolved (or degenrated depending on ur perception of things) into another similar syllable? Again i'm just trying to learn something

I am. :) And yes, the language as been a little "diluted", but even in India, the words "aur" which means and and "aao" which is the command form of the word come, sound nearly the same. What happens in Trinidad is that one person mishears the lyrics of a Hindi song, writes down what they hear, then everyone else THINKS that's what is being said in the song.

Big tune, but I really wish chutney makers/listeners would write Hindi better. lol They're saying "Awo/Aao chale nache" not "Aur chale"...

"Aur" in Hindi means "and" and "Awo/Aao" means "come"...which is what they're actually saying.
