Omg, no.. Jen is really dead and so are all the other children that attened that rally. It is later explained that there was a rally in the last book and everyone found out the police shot the children, they never knew that, and with Luke.. many things happen with him.. many things

The Giver is a series, well it's a trilogy really. The second book is Gathering Blue and the third book is Messenger.

I liked the series a lot but I was upset that Among The Free did not have an epilogue. Does Luke become a part of the government, does Luke and Nina have a relationship, what happens to Luke!

maybe there will be one more...remember that Oscar and the leader of the secret police got away? I was hoping that maybe she'd make one about Jen's travels maybe called "Among the Living" or "Among the Dead" Haddix could twist it so that Jen had to even hide from the Third Borns and she's still alive! but then that would kill the emotion and everything that drove Luke to step out of his hiding place
