I think the sirens Harry hears when he enters the hellish, alternate reality is actually a fainter version of his car's horn constantly beeping (as shown in this ending) - he is actually dead at the wheel, with the horn constantly beeping. So in his subconscious, he hears a softer version of it. What do you reckon?

@PrinceOfNsanity It's not that confusing. Silent Hill 3 is a direct sequel to 1 (this game.) Silent Hill Origins is like Silent Hill 0 (a prequel). Silent Hill 2 and 4 and like side stories. Shattered Memories is a remake/reimagining of this game (made by white people). Silent Hill Homecoming is like Silent Hill 5.

I thought this was supposed to happen(the part where they show Harry dead in car). I thought you basically get to Silent Hill by being dead, like this town is some kind of purgatory...between heaven and hell. It would explain the movie's ending alot better. Think about it, in the movie where the biker chick(Cybil) is bleeding from her helmet after the motorcycle crash. They died!!...am I right? Somebody please explain to me if I am right or wrong.

The true ending is either Good or Good+, as we never see the female cop again in SH 3, personally I think Good+ is the ending that happens. In this version, Harry dies + he never gets the child. In Good and Good+, the end boss (demonic style) reforms into Alessa, who then gives Harry a baby, then opens a portal out of the place, Harry (and the cop in good+) run to the portal with the child, while Alessa dies behind them. They escape with the new baby, who grows up to be Heather in SH 3.

This is what's cool about Silent Hill.

The player can draw whatever conclusion he/she wishes to from what little they are given by the game.

Harry had to survive in order for SH3 to make sense, because he died during the course of SH3. It is assumed that Travis really was the trucker in SH5, so the Good ending is the "real" one.

It's the car horn blaring. The whole joke is that he really just crashed his car and the whole game "Silent Hill" was just a nightmare from his coma. He asks if he crashed his car and is imagining the whole thing about halfway through the game. It's basically an ironic ending.
