  • My god this sounds good...I'm getting SERIOUS super reverb gas!!

  • Awesome playing and tone! Thanks for the demo!

  • m m m that is the tone. Good for you bro

  • All you idiots take heed, this is how you demo an amp....without pedals! Thats how you can actually hear what the amp sounds like, Well done, great sound, good playing.

  • What kind of pickups do you have in that guitar?

  • My good old Apple 17" display, nice memories!!!

Juicy LP sound, I love it.

  • AGGG!! Funky Camera!

    Sounds Nice though!

  • what's the pedal or box over there on the floor where your guitar cord is going?

  • @ichisatori I'm not sure...maybe a Landgraff? It isn't on anyway.

  • great playing and beautiful sound..how much is the amp? and are you happy with it?

looking for my first vintage amp...

  • You're obviously not trying to dazzle us with your licks but that machine sounds great. I've never been a fan of the Las Paul tone, but this is ok.

  • @perfuzz not everyone has to be a shredder to be good.

    dan thats amazing!

  • @JKryanX Thanks very much!!

  • That is great playing. Nice amp, sweet. G R E A T Thanks

  • @diceman220 Thanks very much!!!

  • some peter green licks in the beginning?

  • good job. i'm looking at this amp

  • is that the natural overdrive??? if soo that sounds FUCKING AMAZING!!!!

  • did you use a pedal with this???????????

  • Dont see a pedal there. These amps get great tube breakup around 5 or 6 on master volume, and with humbuckers pushing the front end - even more so.

  • @709AJ No.

  • Hey dude,

great playing and sound. Respect man.

  • dude nice lp where did you get it and how much

  • Hey Dan, do you use the bright channel at all? I've got a 2007 Super Reverb Reissue, and I'm finding that the bright is too thin for humbuckers but is just perfect with single coils (lol, I know your preference for humbuckers).

Great sounding rig as always! Let's hear your Super more!

  • you don't have touch

  • Hey!! Thanks!!

  • @danimagicmushrooms You don't have touch

  • Dude, you need to start your own Bloomfield cover band with that rig! Sounds good!

  • hey you got a good job? i dont think blues bars pay that much

  • probably selling cocaine

  • nice playing! your Les Paul sounds great through this SR! I have the very same setup-save for my Super is either a 1970-or1971( I am still trying to find out by serial number from Greg Gagliano/Fender Forum but haven't heard back yet) Silverface. I and then I have a 70's LP Deluxe. I love them both. My SR is LOUD at 2.5-3 I can't imagine taking it to 5! That would be painful! Anyway, very nice playing and gear!

  • Want to hear how a good blackface super sounds through a camera mic?

  • sounds GREAT!!! what happened to this amp - do you still use it / have it?? this one takes the medal over the deluxe for me!

  • i got a '65 super reverb blackface myself. WOW. crystal clear through my 06 R0 les paul with seymour duncan antiquities and my 52 tele with nocasters. and my other 54 strat with fender custom shop 1969 pickups. i really like this amp. my new amp of course is a 100W Marshall 1959 JMP. randy rhoads signature white half stack haha. oh and my marshall 1974x handwired 18W 1x12 combo, i really love that little one. its got a celestian greenback. ill demo the amps soon

  • Awsome playing BTW

  • Hey, can you help me out? I own a super reverb and i dont know what year it is??? The only tthing ican tell you thats might be a hint is that on the normal channel it has a 3 band EQ? somthing ive never seen on a super reverb? Has it been modded? The facplate isnt original so that just adds to my confution. Some stuff i now about it..... 4 10's, 2 power tubes, 6 pre -amp, 1 rec, it also has a line out. PLZ HELP!!!

  • Thanks bro!!! LOL!!

  • @skydog46 You suck

  • i finished in my pants... god i want that amp so fuckin bad... i imagine my les paul and my strat sounding through it... ooooooooooooooh fucking argentina... why has everything got to be so expensiveeeeeeeeeee

  • Dan, I just got my 66 blackface back from the shop, I put some sort of rectifer tube that drops the watts to 40, OMG it blows every amp I have out the water!

  • The Holy Grail of all amplifiers. Had two of them in LA that I let go for $200 apiece baclk in '79. I cry myself to sleep every night.....

  • I'd Hope You Would!!!!

  • Your Super sounds so much better then the Deluxe Reverb to my ears. It's a shame you made only this video of it. Like someone said here, would like to see this A/B with a 59 Bassman. You're not a tweed fan?

    Thanks for posting 5/5.

  • Back when I was playing five nights a week in the 60s and 70s, we all played SRs, TRs and 4X10 Bassmans full on. Course most of us are deaf now. Put a DynaComp at the 3/9 position after a Strat, set the SR at V5-7/no bright/T8/M5/B5/R2+ and yer good to go! Nice playing... :- )

  • wow im thinking of getting one one of these... should I? are there any other combos out there you recommend?

  • still cant figure what fender had in mind when they made the Super....just too loud...i play a large bar and an outdoor restaurant with a GDEC....on 8...its 15 watts and one 8" speaker...a super would get me fired

  • Well, it is a fantastic amplifier and anyone truly in love with them knows why they made them. They aren't as loud as a twin, but can fill a hall for sure. I suggest you get yourselt a good attenuator and then you won't find issue with the volume...

  • Hi, I hope this still helps: using a 12AY7 =6072 tube in V3 position (reverb driver) you get a more manageable effect (it gets more subtle) due to this kind of tube having less gain. T.

  • Cool amp - I had one of those. I got rid of it though because it was waaaay too loud for the clubs I was playing (with the volume at 2.5!!). I regret getting rid of it... =(

  • Thats a nice tone whats the volume at to get a little break up like that?

  • Pretty loud....about 5 or 6.

  • I've never used a Attenuator - What do you think about them??

  • Like whats about bedroom volume

  • i was at this concert at the beach and the guitar player had a 66 super reverb and the volume was on 3 and the whole beach could hear him

  • Is that too loud for like a bar or club unmiked

  • Yeah, these days...unless the club can hold about 200 folks or so.

  • Does it have to be very loud to get it to break up like that

  • what is your reverb on

  • great

  • GREAT tone. I'd like to see this rig A/B'd with a '59 Tweed Bassman 5F6-A.

  • So would I!!! Thanks!!

  • God, thats about exactly the rig I would like now, though I would prefer a goldtop - maybe with a bigsby.

Right now I'm playing mostly telecaster with an orange and also some on a Ampeg jet, but holy shit this sound great! Not just for blues, but for pure r'n'r! If more gain is needed, I'd just use a good tslike pedal. God this video gives me GAS!

  • sounds really cool. *thumbs up

  • great tone mate!!love your amp love your crossroad playing,I'm a huge ec cream fan too.great video.i've got a 52 lp convers to 57 coldtop with PAF,man, got to say the PAFs are just killing....with a good amp with i've got a 73 plexi 100w,no pedals will ever needed!!keep rockin hard.

  • dude, why did clapton ever switch to strats. I would love it if he would just switch back to his sg or his firebird. The "woman" tone just isnt the same coming from a strat

  • i agree. i think he played his best music on gibson guitars, some stuff on a strat sounds good, but he needs humbuckers.

  • Great Playing!!! Great Tone!!!

  • I just got my all original 1966 fender super reverb !!! wow damn this baby sounds great !!!! nice video mannn !!

  • Believe me, not everyone knows those riffs. Good playing....

  • Thanks!!

  • Sweet.

I'm gonna probably pick up a 1966 super reverb at my local store. Is 1600 USD a good price?

I may try out the chicago blues box roadhouse too, but i'm not sure.

But, great playing and tone! It'd be nice to see this amp with a strat!

  • Thanks dude!!

  • Excellent playing and tone on this one... as always! : )

    T

  • can you help me! i just bought a '81 vintage super reverb to a friend of mine and i can get a nice sound of it! too much bass and trebble and alway too much fuzzy/distorted. i got a Epiphone explorer. Somebody told me that "explorer" got really high output pickup, do you think that's the probleme?!

  • Have you changed the tubes since you bought it? Dead tubes give off too much feedback, sound too bassy, and are pretty lifeless. A simple tube change might solve your problem.

  • How much for changing tubes on my Super Reverb?

  • 130-150 tops. Though it could be lower.

  • can i change them all by myself or it's really tricky?

  • Extremely easy

  • you can change the preamp tubes by yourself. You should have a tech bias the power tubes

  • if you're too stupid to bias an amp..

  • Awesome playing bro! Respect man !! Keep on that sweet blues feel!!

  • I am going to buy myself a 66 black face orgignal thsi weekend !!! god those things sounds like heaven when you play the blues !!

  • Nothing like Gibson guitars and Fender amplifiers...Sweet!

  • you're quite the player, that sounds excellent

  • How does this sound with a tube screamer or other drive pedals

  • listen to steve ray vaughan;)

    Love and peace

  • Nice Woodstock yeah man woodstock is right listen to stevie tube screamers ARE THE SHIT!~!!!!!!

  • the only thing that sounds better than a black face super is 2 black face supers.

  • That sounds freaking TASTY.

Are you playing that thing in a dorm room? You must have kind neighbors.

  • u need 2 do a video of u playing through the super and play ur r8 with a slide man that would b awesome

  • best humbucker tone i've heard in ages. id loooove to hear that 66 super with a strat.

  • I like this tone best of all your videos. Sounds great.

  • Does r8 mean 1958 reissue?

  • Yes.

  • Ok, Not r58, cause all of em are 50's, i get it know, btw ur playing and tone is always great.

  • Is it overwhelmingly loud at breakup? I'm thinking of getting one and I'm after that fender blues driven tone

  • Awesome playing and awesome sound.

  • you say jensen c10q.are those chicago jensen or the italian jensen.there is a difference.

  • Oh yes. These are original Chicago Jensen.

  • Do you like fender or marshall better?

  • I watch this video about 6 to 7 times a day. I want one so bad.

  • This is realy a guitar sound that I like! Great stuff.

  • What did you have the volume set at?

  • your guitar is right hand but your computer mouse is left hand. i just thought i would mention that.

  • Yeah, I have real bad bursitis or tendonitus in my right shoulder. Very observant of you!!

  • thats some real stalker like shit...lol.

  • What is stalker like?

  • the kiely415 post about where your mouse is and which way your handed... just funny.

  • I wish I could play like that. I've studied the schematics on these amps for a while and now i'm building one. Haven't anyone yet figured out that the "Reverb input" and the "Reverb output" makes for an exellent fx-loop? Not that you probably need it for something but.. just a thought... :)

  • Nice tone. How does a Tele sound with that amp?

  • Hey dan could u tell me what volume the amp is on. Plz:0)

  • wow!, I thought I was done when I got the Marshall.

  • did the bright is on ?

  • Very nice sound! I have one question: "Could anyone help me to choose the best amp?" I live in Poland - and however it is a preety nice country, we don't have any good music shops in here - so I can't test any of the Fender tube amps:/ I have a Fender "Eric Clapton" strat, and now I'm buying an amp. What to choose: Super Reverb ,or Twin Reverb, or maybe something else - I want to have an amp, which could break up with my +16dB build-in boost..

  • Hey i got the same guitar but with +25 built in boost(I guess i have the newer model), but i too am looking for an amp. I live in Hawaii and my local music store has fender tube amps. I have brought my guitar mulitple times and every time i play through the super reverb for at least 2 hours. It sounds great with the Clapton strat. I am now saving up for one(they aren't cheap). Well any way i hope this helps:)

  • I have a blackfaced 68 super, an 84 studio with factory PAFs through a jekyll and hyde. Just use the od part and it rocks. Keep rockin!

  • that is amazing playing skydog...i have a super but never play that loud so dont hear it break up...nice to hear it take flight! Thanks!

  • yes! guitar face!

  • Great sound man! You can't beat a Gibson plugged into a blackface Fender. Got a couple of blackfaces myself!

  • love that axe!

  • is that natural overdrive, or are you using an overdrive pedal? i really need to know, i'm dancing between a Twin and a Super. please reply back!

  • No pedals at all on this clip.

  • Hello!

Fender amps inputs are made for Fender guitars, so when you use humbuckers you tend to overdrive and putting some volume(Super is "only" 45w) you get that nice overdrive.

10 inch speakers break sooner and push more air than 12's.

The "Super" is a kind of "Bassman" with reverb and tremolo.

With it's 100w the "Twin" will be too loud before you get that "crunch".

You can use input 2 for les gain and a a/b box for going from normal channel to trem channel.

    Hope it helps...

    Greetings!

    Miguel

  • I don't know if you've tried this, but I have a '68 super (blackface specs) with some Mojotone Jensen-clones and I use a vintage tube screamer with a 335 and SG with burstbuckers. The tube screamer is like some sort of aural whipped cream that just awakens the super and the Gibsons. I don't know quite what it is, but it is surreal. Anyway, go Cards. Go Fender amps+Gibsons.

  • Does a 1952 and 54 Les Paul w/ real PAF's into a 1965 real Black Face Super Reverb w/ real 1965 vintage Jensen C10Q's topped off by a Landgraff Dynamic Overdrive, with a real vintage TS-808 tube screamer NOS JRS 4558 chip work??

  • That sounds like a rippin' rig. Got clips? Go Cards!!!!

  • how do burstbuckers sound in sg's? which ones do you have in it?

  • FYI: he said C10Q's and they will not break up like p10r's - these are two types of speakers made of two different kinds of materials...

The kinds of tubes you use will also make a big difference in the way the amp breaks up...

  • My SR overdrives like a devil on 6.

    Your's is nice ,clean sounding

  • Wasn't quite as clean as the recording may indicate. With these 10" speakers its a little harder to record than with the 12".

  • he u coul dput a 5751 pre-amp tube in the v2 and it cleans it up a lot.

  • gimme some more!!

  • Dan that sounds amazing! Whats the vol setting on that? I want that amp or BFTR!

  • See your post on the LPF...vol on 6..wow!

  • That was simply AMAZING !

  • I'd call that a successful test!

  • What a tone ! Very very good sound !
