The problem is that y'all listen to Jay-Z the rapper and not to Shawn Carter the person. Take time out to listen to Shawn Carter's a.k.a. Jay-Z interviews about life, politics, music and etc. Maybe you all will have a second opinion. Y'all could't have listen to the whole "Watch The Throne" album. "Murder To Excellence," "New Day," "Welcome To The Jungle", "Why I Love You," and "Made It In America" are the exact opposite of what the man in the video is talking about.
Why are criticism & critique considered "hate"? Why can't a man say "I don't like this"? Dissent, which has always been the catalyst for growth & transformation throughout history, is now viewed as a negative. Criticism is an absolute necessity in life. All change begins with criticism and discontentment. But nowadays people are called "haters" for expressing any sort of disapproval or criticism. We all need to be critiqued routinely, especially our public figures who influence so many people.
We forget that a lot of celebrities are not educated. They are often very smart & talented & may have great business acumen, but there is a lot they obviously don't know about history, cultural identity, politics, etc... So they lack social consciousness & a sense of responsibitly. They are ignorant (& seemingly too arrogant to be educated by anyone). Talented? Smart? Hard-working? Absolutely!!! But they're still unaware of some very basic truths about politics, morality and responsibility.
@antoniodcharity My Brilliant Brother your words resonate so very clearly! You hit the nail directly on the head in regards to the massive shortcomings of these misguided and miseducated (uneducated) "entertainers." Those of us who are aware of the damage that there "slave anthems" are producing must continue to be outspoken and protectors of our intellect and dignity. The struggle continues
YO THIS IS MARVALIS! IF YOU FIND OUT AN ARTIST DOESN'T REALLY CARE ABOUT YOU OR THE COMMUNITY, DO NOT BUY HIS OR HER RECORDS! HOW CAN SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T CARE ABOUT YOU MAKE MONEY OFF OF YOU!
IMHO It's not about Hip Hop as genre. There are plenty of HH artists out there, who actually make music that lift up your spirit.
Jay & Ye are just part of the system, where mainstream media is used to dumb down the common people and to implant the need to chase the "luxurious lifestyle". It's about programming the false values.
Salute. Its good to see someone speaking out. The strange thing is, a lot of people feel the exact same way ...They just wont say anything because its Jay and 'Ye'.
Thank you so much my dear family for your positive remarks. I pray that these words reach these two Brothers as well in order to create a positive dialog that would educate and enlighten our "heroes" to the real potential power of their platform to change the world..for the better.
If this resonates with you by all means leave a comment...we want to create a movement of positive propaganda to counteract all the negative imagery inundating the minds of the masses....The Truth shall set us all FREE
