I think people forget how heavy squad cars are with all their equipment. A fully loaded Crown Vic police interceptors weighs well over 4000 lbs without the driver and they don't really have more power then a regular Crown Vic. I've seen police interceptor Vics run in the high 14's/low 15's without all the equipment in them.

But yeah, there are plenty of other cars out there that are fun to drive that aren't V8's, I have a 2.0 liter turbo 4-cylinder VW GLI that I've tuned to get about 300 hp, and it's a blast to drive on curvy roads or to unexpectedly kill a Mustang in a drag race.

Those are stock Crown Vics with a 4.6L v-8 with 239hp and 275lb in a heavier car. The reason why it killed the tuners is a flatter torque curve which is what a v-8 produces sure it peaks early but it does not fall much through the rpm range. So what does that mean? Better avg torque Hp is nothing more than a multiplacation of torque.

@Toadphillips yeah, the only 4 cylinder i can think up off the top of my head that could compete with a V8 is the Mitsubishi Evo X FQ 350/400's 2.0 liter turbo, and that makes 350 to 400 hp, not bad for little 4 banger... But yeah, there are plenty of other cars out there that are fun to drive that aren't V8's, I have a 2.0 liter turbo 4-cylinder VW GLI that I've tuned to get about 300 hp, and it's a blast to drive on curvy roads or to unexpectedly kill a Mustang in a drag race.

Those are stock Crown Vics with a 4.6L v-8 with 239hp and 275lb in a heavier car. The reason why it killed the tuners is a flatter torque curve which is what a v-8 produces sure it peaks early but it does not fall much through the rpm range. So what does that mean? Better avg torque Hp is nothing more than a multiplacation of torque.
