Donavan mcnabb didn't know the overtime/tie rules...foles won't make the same mistake again; but give credit as he nailed a dart on the move with pressure, third down!
This has inspired a question. If someone threw a pass to a defender and the defender never got control of it, is it considered illegal for him to chuck it, before he touches anywhere out of bounds, to a teammate waiting about 10 yards from the line of scrimmage?
QB's are screamed at by coaches to "Get Rid Of The Ball", and not get sacked, so much, it's kind of understandable he'd forget the "once (maybe three) in a career rule like this. Rather he do this, than swollow it eight times per game! It's alright, kid!
@ohmagaad93 Schools referred to by their state names are always "University of (insert state here)". University of California, Berkeley, is the flagship UC and its sports teams have traditionally gone by University of California. It's like how University of Texas is really University of Texas, Austin.
Stupid rule? Hardly. If multiple forward passes were allowed, you'd get crazy trick plays like multiple screen passes behind the line of scrimmage. As it was, when NFHS rules allowed multiple forward passes, defensive pass interference couldn't be called after the first pass.
@alexhortdog95 understand the game lol? Ive played more downs than you ever had or will in your life and to see a your team get a penalty for throwing after he caught his own pass for positive yards is bullshit and im not saying let the QB throw 10 times if he can only twice at most if he can afterall the QB worked hard to catch the rebound and make another pass. And Arizona's loss has nothing to do with this rule so grow you have no idea what its like to play college football.
Apparently this play would have been legal with NFHS rules up until 2005. HS rules (for most states) back then allowed multiple forward passes as long as the ball didn't cross the neutral zone. I understand there used to be HS plays drawn up to include multiple forward passes.
Such a rare situation, but definitely a boneheaded play. Got to know the rules. This was by FAR one of the most exciting Cal games in the past few years, at least at Memorial Stadium. Really glad I was able to make it down for that one.
