You actually want to dig in, below the step if that's all you have. Also, thats why you're ankles look like twigs. Im the running back for V football, and Im pretty sure i know what im saying.
On December 24,2006 at 8 o'clock in the morning, a young 14 year old boy by the name of Scott Jackson was found dead.Doctors couldn't come up with the cause of his death. His mother checked his emails to see if she could figure out what happened.Turns out he was still signed into myspace. She found he had gone to sleep after he read and didn't repost a chain letter.if you don't repost this to 6 videos a girl with no face will kill you tonight. sorry don't wanna die
And apart from that, if you FULLY want to train calves, you don't just want to train the gastrocnemius, but also the soleus (large part of the calf), which you train by (for instance) doing sitting calf raises. And for the men: if you're training for calf mass, everytime I read you wanna do low reps and really heavy weight, not the 20-40rep sissy calf raises. That mostly just pumps your calves full with lactic acid and trains stamina.
There so many "recommended" methods of doing calf workouts, some recommend to rep till failure, some recommend like what you wrote, to do low reps with heavy weights and some recommend to train calves daily. Bottom line is that calves are really stubborn and they MUST suffer. I found that regular stretching as well as steep incline walks/jogs help with calves alongside the raises with weights.
There's many controversy on training calves for mass indeed, especially on the weight+amount of reps, but, one thing seems clear to me. If you really wanna train for mass, you wanna work the muscle fully. If you wanna fully train the calves, you want to train both the gast+soleus. Standing calf raises just can't be enough for mass, and I guess we agree on that.
I don't have massive calves myself, but I've always disagreed with working the calves with different toe positions. In my opinion it's a waste of time, because if you just train calves in the neutral/comfortable position, you'll be training both heads of the gastrocnemius, which is all you need. If you need more intensity, just use more weight, that's much better than using uncomfortable positions.
The most important thing of the workout is causing microtears in the muscles, if a bit of cheating helps you do the workout more intensely in the negative phase, that can help your gains, IF you know why you're cheating and how to do it.
Ontopic: Calves can handle a ton of weight. If you really want bigger ones, just bodyweight like in this video isn't forcing them to grow really, that's more of a cardio exercise.
This is a great exercise. My calves were more defined before from walking everywhere - I've recently moved somewhere where public transport is excellent, so now I don't walk as much, and my current exercise routine isnt so good for defining calves. Definetely worthwhile!!!!!
no PAIN no GAIN! but remember, only the muscle you are working on should burn. so if your are doing bicep curls for example and your back starts to hurt, STOP immediately! talk to your doctor.
If I had seen this video about not dropping too far down the step on a stair, I would have avoided injury.

This is actually a pretty decent workout. Calvs are hard to exercise, but add some manuals to this and you got a killer workout.

i disagree, respectfully. your form is the upmost important part of the workout. even if it means using little weight.
