  • if you say it is impossible to hack the pcos machine then you will say there's an error on time and date of some, then your statement " it is impossible" becomes undoubtly "possible". Possible for internal malfunction and of course the one who knows the encryption possibly can sell its decryption. Even if the pcos are impossible to hack but it is possible to sell decryption code to anyone who buy its information.

  • then why is it the time and date of pcos was not synchronized?

  • 128 bit encryption is just a 32-byte hash, which means it contains '32' alphanumeric characters. Hacking is always possible.

  • Even though it would be possible to hack from the memory card or transmission, there is a long paper trail to validate the real tally.

  • ok got the point... when we talked about encryptions, cipher and decipher o encrypt and decrypting... via a network to a receiving server/s , ito lng ang masasabi ko, one has to know the "password" or should i say the decrypting code to access the received encrypted data.. how many pcos do we have in all? how many receiving servers do we have to decrypt all the codes... in this setup, unless all PCOS machines gives a unique -randomized codes to encrypt the data.. the system will be hackproof!

  • to continue my point, now if all receiving servers decrypts each data using a unique "pass" code, then the data is safe and tamper proof! Now if what they did is to use only one Decrypting code for all the encrypted data, then a hacker only need to know that specific code to access or even change the data itself.. or just hack the servers and thats it..

but I'm glad that my pinoy brothers are going to this era of technology, its a start!

  • simple

pcos machine -> a little homemade micro comp -> network

the info sent by the pcos shall pass by the micro comp first changing it to favor someone then finally submiting it to the network..

something like you do when you hack an ATM

the encryption cannot be trusted.. it can be broken or decrypted if you have the tools or right connections or right people.

    beware Philippines.

    nothing is impossible

  • ndi ako nani2wala jan!! bka cla mismo ung manghack jan ehh!! kc computerized n eh!! tao lng may gawa nyan!! kea kayang manipulahin din ng tao yan!! sus!!!

  • ay sus! 120-bit encryption pla e.

  • ehem.. !!! hahahaha... nothing is impossible... palabas lng yan.. kahit gaano ka lakas ang trend ng technology ngaun.. still there's a leakage.. hahaha..

  • walang imposible sa computer now. given the time it will be hacked. internet banking is constant updating kaya hinde na hacked na sinasabi nya. doon na sa server syempre. dapat ang bantayan ay ang server.

  • absolutely FOE this May 10, 2010...

what i mean is FAILURE OF ELECTION...

    95% failed ang election ngayon....

don't ask why and how just observed and be updated to all issues about election....

  • if that's an advantage of the PCOS machine then that's good. but still there is a flaw from the machine. how can they solve it now when we have only 4 days left? it's possible that we do the old fashioned way again when the COMELEC spend billions of pesos just to have this machine and we ended up nothing.. they waste large amount of money again. the involved person have a lot to explain

  • hacking during transmission no way, yes transmission is secured or virtually impossible to hack, but accessing and modifying data of memory card is easy.

  • what if numeric values to be printed have already been set within the program? kahit 0 ang values sa first printing, pwede naman iset ang values na gusto mong lumabas sa specific nth printing. regardless sa ininput ng voters.

  • intercept the transmission? that would be stupid. just tamper the data before it's sent. :P

  • @x0rr

128 bit? okay, what if the encryption algorithm leaks out? :P

  • and for the answer on the last question? abso-fuckin-lutely YES!!!

  • but no matter how he explain 128 bit encryption, it is still crackable by just bypassing the password. the advantage of bypassing is that, no trace of evidence that somebody has opened or logged on the system.

  • That's American Standard 128 bit encryption.

  • its only 6+billion population, not quadrillion

    nice vid
