you can train them easily, :) just repeat songs and sentences repeatidngly, and use emotion and don't get impatient,once it learns it's first tune, there after it will learn harder phrases,To twach tricks, then you must show wat 2 do.Type in cockatiel doing some tricks, they can be come very clever with a little bit of practise!

hes not dumb. Mine acted the same way when I got her. Absent minded, uncurious, afraid of everything. The bird just needs to trust you, and get used to the new environment so that he can be up for interaction. Find out why he's violent. Maybe he needs a bigger cage, a mate, stimulation, a pellets diet etc.. When you tame him properly you will see hes not dumb at all. Be gentle, but dont let him get away with biting, say NO firmly when he does. And when he calms down, THEN remove ur hand. ;)

you have to leave the cage door open and then you can put a treat on the outsid have pearches too so he can perch on them and then when he comes out just talk to it if it bites u just leave the room and ignore it for a while so it knows biting/nibbling isnt good hope this helped
