@HMSDaring1 they are patrol vehicles, their purpose is to allow the passengers greater visiblity while still having moderate protection. they arn't made to go into all out combat just survive if they get shot at.

@HMSDaring1 the cage is actually a armour uprade to defeat light anti tank weapons, with regards to the jackal and coyote have you ever tried firing weapon at a target moving 80-90mph neither have i but regular shooting is har enough not to mention the fact that you have to score a hedshot since the arms and toros arce conialde within the body (especasily for the driver) and the jackal 2 has added side armour on doors so the only way so achieve a shot would be from the front...

I know what Im on about, i didn't when i first wrote the comment but i had a general idea, and i stick to it, the troops in a few of these vehicles are exposed. they are not easy to shoot at but they are exposed. I watched a program where one of these sort of British Army vehicles got ambushed and the SAS were called in to rescue the hostages,

@smurfiain2K10 It wasn't the Jackal, but it was a similar design and frame, and it was in Africa, they were ambushed by some dickheads, the British Soldiers had to surrender because they were badly outnumbered, 3 vehicles, one Land Rover leading the convoy, a similar vehicle to the Jackal, and ar Land Rover at the back, they were surrounded and ordered to chuck their weapons on the floor. the British Government sent some Chinhooks with the SAS team and Lynk Gunships to save them. saw it on Sky!

@HMSDaring1 that was in sierra leone like 20 years ago they stopped to talk to a bunch of locals and then got guns pulled on them if they had a tank they still would of got captured. you can have any vehicle you want but if you get out its not going to do shit. jackals arnt meant for that sort of thing.

@TheEnglishBadman Well the MOD gave a contract to another company to make over 50 modifications to the vehicle when it was delivered from the US,such as verticle armoured plates, firing points, suspension etc. Yeah the ridgeback is basicly a smaller mastiff, built by the same company.
