  • Oh no! I'm going to spend the rest of fire season doing the paperwork for this then the final report will be posted to the net and everyone will see what dumb --ses we are!

  • This would not happen with Mercedes Unimog brush engine because they come with a self-defense system that easily deals with a simple brush fire. See here ....

youtube .com/watch?v=z74K0NXtRI0 after 1:40 min. you see the system in action.

  • @Ilaab1995 Most fire departments cans afford a unimog. Besides that, you really think that little trickle of water is gunna save it? I wanna see them light it on fire THEN turn the system on. Thats not in action my friend. Thats showing

  • @Vaneps0 ..... You are correct that most FDs don't have the money to buy a Unimog in a Type 3 engine configuration. They also don't have the money to buy a regular Type 3 brush engine. However, you are mistaken about the self defense system. The exit pressure of the water is controlled with the pump and can be increased quite a bit. All it takes to extinguish the little flames in this video is a fine mist under high pressure. A US company picked up on it and is developing this for FD pickups.

  • oh bugger

  • this is what you call leaving the scene With the Fire..

  • Now I know why they're called "Fire Trucks" →_→

  • You know what really ticks me off: when people start their smart ass comments with "ummmm".

  • @engine173351 You and me both man

  • Somehow I'm thinking their insurance premiums are gonna HURT.

  • I supose they were almost ruining out water, cause they couldn't put the fire out.

Bad luck... The shit thing in the wrong time...

  • "Hey Chief? You know the new brush truck we've been thinking about? Ummm, how far along are we in getting that? What? No. No. I'm er, we just happened to be thinking it all at the same time coincidently and... Yeah, weird huh? Anyway, um, I, we, us, um, we burntnupthetruck. What? I said we burntupthetruck. Yes, it's toast. I guess that's why we were all coincidently thinking about the new one... Yessir, be in your office at 1:30 today."

  • this is exactly why you fight fire in hard black and not in the green. Green= lost fire trucks!

  • @Hossman28 Green ='s a lack of green. :)

  • Poor ole Ford.

  • Nozzle man failed.

  • See the describtion!

fire truck on fire when fighting a wildfire

Say that 10 times very fast

  • Dear Chief, Since we last spoke, There has been a few changes around the dept.. For one.. Our brush truck is no longer in service due to a few minor defaults, Just a little wax, and some elbow grease, we'll have it buffed out in no time.

  • EPIC FAIL! XD

  • lmao who had the bright idea of driving right over the fire

  • when he moves away, it burns like gasoline!! was there a reason for that effect??

  • Tinder dry scrub + hot exhaust pipe+ dumb ass driver = a video on Youtube. LOL

  • Yup, that right there is definitly what one would call a "fire truck"!!

  • Uh...the truck? Funny thing happened

  • thats why theyre called "firetrucks"

  • Damn probies. You're supposed to use a driptorch to light backfires, not your engine!

  • this is why we should build fire proof firetrucks

  • "what truck we hiked out there?"

  • fire truck on fire =P

  • that makes for a long and bad day

  • Amen, Bro!

  • Ohhhhhh the irony is killing me

  • so the fire deportment got themselvse on fire? Now I'v seen everything

  • @smallvile1992 uve seen close to everything..... they didnt catch themslves on fire.... just their truck lol

  • That is why you fight from the black and not from the fuel. If you are in the fuel, you are the fuel.

  • @dixievfd55 That's exactly right! Obviously these guy's didn't have a lookout either or a good IC..

  • now this is the definition of irony...

poor buggers will have to walk back to the command post now.

"AAAAGH!!! my Lunchables is in the Cab... :( " "save the snakpak!!!!"

  • lol fire truck fail

  • haha!! same thing happened to my local fire department!!! same color trucks too!! Columbia Twp Fire Dept. good thing i was joined the next twp fire dept!!

  • "We can NOT tell the chief about this!" LOL

  • LMFAO.....this is the best!

  • thats why a gas powered brush truck is a bad idea.

  • THATS IT GOING TO RUN ON..SOME AA`S

  • Some have to lose their job... I've never seen that. Firefigher can extinguish a big car fire in few seconds...

  • Forest hoses aren't as big as structural hoses so its harder to put out a fire like that

  • At 0:15 you can see leaking fuel.

A gas leak in the middle of a brush fire is a death sentence for any car.

The did manage to keep it from exploding, which it would have done without any intervention.

  • Contrary to what the Media and Hollywood would have you believe, gas tanks on vehicles rarely explode when a vehicle catches on fire. Most explosions you see come from other sources on a vehicle, like tires. In my 32 years in the Fire Service, I have never seen a gas tank "Explode". I'm sure it has happened, but not very often.

  • have to agree unless its a petrol driven vehicle on low fuel that can happen ( being a mechanic studding engineering ) or if it diesel gets hot enough to flash point .

  • Well, sadly, now the tanks are made of plastic... We had a tank explode last sunday.

  • @station079 Same here, I have seen them rupture from car fires(shoots out a flame nothing major) and that's about it. Hollywood movies give me good laughs, an exploding shock is more concerning to me then worrying about a gas tank exploding. That and rolling meth labs...

    Stay safe

  • @station079 +1. They do explode, but not the kind of intensity hollywood depicts. It makes a soggy burp sound. We had a car fire on the street in front of our office once, dodge pickup, odd fire as it was burning in the cab and not the engine. But anywho the FD blocked off the road and waited around until there was a loud pop in the under carriage that shook the car before hosing it down. my best guess is that they were waiting for the gas tank to cook off before getting closer.

  • @R5H4D0W Like I said before, vehicle gas tanks rarely explode. I'm sure what you witnessed was more than likely a tire, shock absorber, bumper strut or ?. If the truck was burning in the cab, unless it was an old truck, the gas tank probably didn't become involved since most trucks over the last 30 years have the fuel tank between the frame rails under the bed. If the fuel tank "cooked" off, it would have been a bit more spectacular than a soggy burp. But, since I wasn't there I don't know.

  • I would love to read the dear chief letter on that one but i would hate to be these guys

  • Its the forstry dept. they dont put the fire out head on... they have to control it,so they arnt using big hoses

  • umm....bout that well thats a new meaning to the word fire truck

  • i bet thay made the probie explain that one but shoudent you try and put the fire out without losing a rig?

  • Little more than an ass chewing, I bet they got.

  • So thats how you call a fire truck because they REALLY DO CATCH ON FIRE

  • Definately one of better "oh shit" moments caught on tape...yikes!

  • damn probie

  • wow..thats something i wouldnt wanna explain to the cheif....damn

  • Wow what a way to start a back fire!!!! Just drive the firetruck with a leaking fuel tank into a burning field and bam you got a new back fire torch haha

  • now thats literaly a FIRE TRUCK

  • um it achy went up quite fast tbh

  • IRONYY!

  • uhh oops, how do u explain that one to the chief?

  • i dont think u would want to explain it to the chief

  • no need to lol video says it all lmao

  • how the hell did it spread that quickly

  • man....thats gotta suck !!

good thing for insurance coverage huh....them trucks are quite pricey.

  • Really?? How does your engine catch fire??

  • Why couldn't they put it out?

    Leaking fuel?

  • they basically use garden hoses... take that into consideration and your average garden hose water supply puts out 12 gallons a min.. (hose restriction) these hoses a better than a garden hose but not good enough to put that fire out on a truck with desiel... you need a 1 1.2 inch at 100 psi at aprox 250 gal a min

  • That's one way to put in a backfire...

  • I think the Apparatus Placement for Engineers class just got another student.

  • Querian apagar el fuego con la camioneta.

  • this is exactly why we use older vehicles for wildland firefighting operations. Thats also why you hardly dont see new pieces of equipment in these operations.

  • lol u right!!!!!!!!

  • just more tax money to pay the way i see it

  • insurance fraud.clearly.

  • lol lol

  • The firefighters should have sprayed the grass around truck when they relized it couldn't be saved, to prevent the spread of a BIGGTER grass fire. keep the truck on fire and the grass wet so they BOTH don't catch fire.

    There goes about 80-100,000 dollars.

  • ITS A WILDFIRE RETARD

  • i agree with the silent villain pro things have changed. when you need a firefighter to save your house or extracate your fuckin ass out of a car you wont think american firefighting sucks so much.

  • Dude. This is in the 1980's and most places don't fight fire this way. We now have certain SOP's and SOG's and training that teach us how to properly fight fire. If my chief, or Module leader saw us fighting fire this way we would be out of a job pronto. Just to let you know. U.S. Forest Service is considered the best wildland firefighters in the world!!

  • Even over Canadian firefighters? :p In Canada there are no fires but wildfires (j/k, but really).

  • U must be thinkin of the Australians mate...

LOL that was a funny sight, DANGEROUS but funny. That's why we have front spay bars on our trucks to pre wet the grass as we drive over it. To see this sort of fire fighting done right watch the channel called "simonthefireman" Awesome wildland action.

  • lol wow that put a new meaning to "fire truck"

  • i think they missed the point of the fire truck

  • "brush 1 to county... um our truck is on fire and umm... we might need another unit to umm... help us out"

  • Gas + fire + air = bigger fire......... add water = Bad phone call to the Chief ! "Um, you will never guess what ummmmm, the new guy did"

whats life withouot its oops adents

  • LOL

  • Gee bubbah, let's put our oldest truck out in the fire....so....OOOPS, damn, it got burned!! Now I guess we need to get a brand new one!! AHH SHUCKS!! lol

  • uhhhhh, ooops!

Looks like the undercoating caught fire there.

msds on the undercoat used on that vehicle available by chance?

  • now enjoy my officer down video! hate to see a good truck burn, but its better than a firefighter getting it!

  • that stinks they lost a good fire truck

  • por un pasto queman un carro ¿que paso?

  • nobody was injured were thay?

  • lol that happened a long time ago

  • They're saying "SHIT!"

  • good way to get a new truck. we usually park in areas that have already burned though.

  • ya im a fire fighter we dont get brush fire or forest fires too often but we had a realy good sized forest fire last year and it set a bulldozer we had on fire and it mad a REALY GOOD SIZED fire lol

  • good thing the fire dpt was there..lol

  • yeah that happens all the time to my stations engine all the time fucking 45-102 lol

  • The irony, a fire truck... on fire

  • Not a PVC fuel tank either.

  • Comment removed

  • park in the black!!!!!

  • pvc gas tank,,on a fire equipment, stupid stupid,, and gas lines must be all steal from tank to engin,,

  • actually you could use kevlar or similar polymers

  • you should know not to park right next to the fire

  • ironic, you caused more destruction than you needed lol

  • so who told the fire cheif or was the fire cheif on that truck. OPPS is right there better be another truck there that can haul you guys back orels you are all the walkin

  • Quit Driving!!! Stop Drop & Roll!!! LMFAO

  • hahaha jackasses. man, i hate to be that engine boss.

  • thats fucking hilairious what happened

  • lol who would park a fire truck that close to a wildfire.. they got pooned lol

  • that was bad.. hope they have room in the other rig's, or that fire crew is walkin'

  • omg i hope noone was hurt
