I suggest to all you guys to constitute a "World cymbals license", to save amazing cymbals from wrong's hands!! Think about Elvin, Art, Tony, what they can think? they are crying somewhere!!!
It's a really good cymbal, but please, suggest to the owner to give the cymbal to someone else who can play it, please,my heart is crying seeing something like that!!!
sorry but I couldn't hear a cymbal like that to be played in this way :-((

True what noostrings says... 25 years ago there were no jazz cymbals being produced the way they are today. Back then guys would pay hundreds for stuff just like this because there was nothing else. Today every manufacturer has a line that sounds like this if not better. Unless the sound of a particular instrument is truly outstanding to you, these vintage cymbals are worth very little now. Same goes for old drums-today they can made a drum to sound better than anything from the past.
Vintage drums have a mellower, drier sound than modern drums because the moisture content in the wood has drastically decreased through time, which is a very hard sound to achieve when crafting a new drum. Thats why people prize vintage drums
@kraastopher Hahahaha, never heard of old K Zildjian Istanbul cymbals? You better do some research before you say something like that, man. The best, greatest sounding, most beautiful new modern cymbal in the world will never compare to a good old K, both in sound and price.
that's the biggest crock of shit I have ever read on youtube..
and I've read a lot of shit...drums from the 50's and 60's sound different not worse than today. its a whole other animal. Cymbals from the past not worth much? are you crazy? have you sen what vintage K's and some A's go for?
Ludwig, Gretsch, Rogers and Slingerland made the best drums in history..You can't compare them to todays mapex, dw, etc...etc.. pearl,,whatever... the woods are new the bearing edges are different..
@SplitHoof You gotta love guys like this spingdee. Bold in his command of the truth without an ounce of knowlege. In fact almost every word he said was the exact opposite of the truth. I have three new sets (Gretsch/Gretsch/Ludwig) all sound awsome, but none of them can reproduce the sound of my 60's Slingerland jazz kit. I wish I could afford a nice set up of old K's, but for now I'll settle for my Agop's. Cheers!
@spingdee I don't usually like to use this type of expression, but sometimes it suits so right that I can't help it. YOU ARE A RETARD!!! You commented this 2 years ago and it's still coming back to you. Hopefully by now you've learned a thing or two about sound quality, history, value, advantages of aging woods and alloys and especially in cymbals, about original hand made turkish craft-manship and tradition, which is the epitome of great cymbal smithing. If you haven't learned, GET A CLUE!!!!!!
1 in every 100 k rides were good.....this is one is about # 69........sell it on ebay to some rich kid studying at berkley who thinks it will make him hip and get more gigs.
There are so many great cymbal makers out there now......The old K thing is so overated. I've played tony's nefertiti ride and it wasn't that special.....it's all in the hands and how the engineer recordes....
oh my frikin god r u serious...... ahhhhhhhhh my pop gave me like sumthing exactly like this not long ago even better and more rare now when i researd it omg i'v been usein it on my drum kit and bashin it ahhhhhhhh my god crap im so dumb
Yeah, this is one of the last of those cymbals by Zildjian to be made over there. Also, ummm breathing isn;t an issue, it's a jazz cymbal. In person, it makes it sound like a chhh sound? That's the best I can put it.
id be willing to bet that one rivet would do the best job :P who knows.

hit a 800 dollar snare made today and then hit one from the 30,40,50,60s...big difference. You dont get that "ring" or the high end over ring

You've killed the sustained with all those rivets.
nocturnezero 2 years ago 7

Yes. It's a fantastic cymbal.

Sorry, but
She can't breath with all those rivets. Your presentation leaves much to be desired, and your stick choice is horrible.

Dude! Zildjian and Istanbul are two different brands.
Texasweazel 4 years ago
Yes I know, but this is a Zildjian made in Istanbul, not a Istanbul cymbal.
