@xGuest10101 changing services effects the performance of the entire system, not just boot times. Every service consumes memory and CPU cycles, meaning each one that doesn't start means more free resources for actual programs to use. As long as you know what you're doing, there's no way to break anything just by disabling a service.
very nice video i knew bout the services but i use to just turn them off not set them to manual..but very nice vid tanx man im going to turn off all the ones i dont need
i tinker a bit and remove certain programs in order to make my computer run faster. anyway, i have always wonder if there was a way to disable background programs.
i have a side question. is there any book you recommend to learn stuff like this? since gauging computer literacy is rather vague, i don't know how to explain my knowledge base, but i do learn very quickly.
anyway, if you have a book to recommend, please pass along
disabling application experience has a huge impact on my pc. when i disable it my pc goes super smooth.. the only problem is that you need it for most programs and games.
wow that's very odd. I can almost guarantee that it's some other third-party program (such as an antivirus, firewall, etc) that's causing the slowness, or perhaps one of these programs was depending on a service that you disabled.
Go back through the list and revert any network-related services to their default values (you can find these on that same page) and see if that fixes the problem.
The configuration you use depends more on your level of computer knowledge, not necessarily what you'll end up using your computer for.
The more things you disable, the faster your computer will operate. Period. Just make sure that you know what you're doing beforehand to avoid having to troubleshoot an issue.
The "Safe" is better or Tweaked on balck viper site???

Blackviper is excellent. A friend told me about it a long time ago.
The site gives explanation to all of the Windows services and explains why it should or should not run.
