  • dude - you are so very cool- if i ever get the time i am absolutely taking one of your tour/classes. thank you for the info

  • i live in south florida, just out of the everglades area, and ive watched a good few of your videos for a few years now but never see something that i see a lot. anything you think id find most commonly in my area?

  • @pleaseteachmeman Most of the plants I do videos on an on my website are in your area. I teach in West Palm Beach and Port Charlotte. The plants are there, particulary blue porterweed.

  • @pleaseteachmeman look for coco plum

  • I actually found this weed in my backyard! haha, its pretty awsome i saw a orange butterfly close by as well.

  • If you put all your vids on a DVD I'd pay $20-$30 for it easy.

  • It is difficutl to get more than a few videos on a single DVD.

  • @EatTheWeeds I dunno....You could probably get 10-20 episodes on a single DVD.

  • @porphyrous So far we've been able to only get five per DVD...

  • Hey Deane, I have found that the porterweed will self seed and propagate readily in warm climates. One plant bought 20 years ago has beget hundreds to be left behind at various homesites over the years...good to know it has foraging potential--thanks!

  • can you do a vid on the nasturtium?

    T Y for all the good info : )

  • Blue Porterweed. Good one!

  • soooo what is the recipe for beer?

  • Very interesting. I didn't know that. I have some in my yard because it's also a hummingbird plant. I loved the history lesson. Thanks.

  • Beautiful plant! What zone do they grow in?

  • @skeletonmom Year round in warm areas, elsewhere in summer gardens.

  • thanks

  • Deane thank you for yet another wonderful video - I may not do much forraging but I sure do like your videos

  • very nice video, ive watched alot of youre vids and knowledge is the best thing to help you in the wild thanks for tonz of it :)

  • Nature rules!!

  • if anyone could survive 2012, it would be you because you know what to eat and how. plus many people think chomping on plants like dandelions and nettles is weird and they wouldnt do it themselves

  • Wow! Great info! Thanks Deen!

  • Can't wait for the new website!

  • Thanks Green Deen. Cool. I'm getting great produce for my ducks this winter from abundant weeds growing on my verge. The ducks are happy!

  • You had way too much fun with this one!

A noble sacrifice for science ;-)

  • I work in a butterfly conservatory and we have this growing all over the place. It was seen as a 'useless' plant compared to others we grow. I've found however that our birds eat the bottom leaves (they leave a little triangle beak marks!), and they also eat the flowers. Interestingly, ours grows about 4 inches a day and is currently about 20 feet tall. We have to do massive trims once a week to keep it under control.

  • @sekhmet2003 Wow! Fascinating.

  • @GETlTBIGGA I'm sorry, I don't understand your comment.

  • How much of the leaf would it take to make a five gallon batch of beer? I live in Southern New Jersey which is a giant sand dune and pine forest. It would make a terrific plant on the border of my yard, and even potted in my vegetable garden. I'm trying to coax honey bees to my garden and butterfly bush does not happily grow here. Thanks for a really great video!

  • @docsimonson That's a subjective amount. Make a tea first and get to know the flavor.
