  • Once big cat diary ended, i did'nt know what to do... then i remembered the strong and powerful "Toto" Even though he did'nt make it... he was the strongest willed cub i'd ever seen on the ENTIRE series... Rest In Peace Toto! We'll all miss you, god bless your soul.

  • I thought Toto was mauled by a baboon then perished in a storm? Also, WHY was Honey tranquilized??? Just because she was in the savannah?

  • OMG Honey was killed :'( I didnt know that... that breaks my heart... such beautiful creatures they are... all of them... thanks for the vid though. its beautiful. Made me cry. But still beautiful. I love the show, fans, feel free to message me!!! always looking for cat lover fans!!!

  • but i also want to add that Honey had 3 other cubs all males that survived and are still alive and doing well as a hunting trio

  • For Honey to make it through childhood in the Savannah and become a mother to just be killed by a Vet is terrible

  • I started watching this because i love cheetahs, halfway through i mad the mistake of reading the description and now Im crying :,(

  • i love this program all the cat's are like family

  • it was heartbreaking to see that last part of that episode

  • love this vid!!:)

  • Toto Was killed by a Lion.

  • do not say that there is no happy ending. we reach it in heaven

  • jus shed coz of toto.

  • honey died??!! noooooooooooooo

  • I've watched all through series 1 to 7, Honey along with Toto and Amber were my fav of the cheetahs. Where did you learn about Honey's death? I knew Toto hadn't made it but I didn't know about Honey.

Beautiful vid by the way :)

  • fuckin apes hate it.

  • Was watching the part when poor Toto was shivering the afternoon before he went missing in that storm. It's so stupid that we're "messing up the natural order of things" when we lend a helping hand :(

  • At 2:48,what a beautiful mothers day card, little Toto saying,I love you mom.

  • I Love Toto!! I Dont Know Why He Had To Leave :( <3

  • OMG, I CREID MY HEART OUT. IT WAS SO BBEAUTIFUL :') :'(

  • I Cried my heart out, I loved Toto so much, and I adored him, now I have a huge hole in my heart

  • Very touching video! Thanks!

  • In the final episode of the series, Toto went missing overnight after a storm, and was not found. It was reported a few days later that Honey was found living alone. Nobody knows what exactly happened, but Toto had not survived.

  • Honey is dead? Oh my god, I actually cried when I found out. She was such an amazing cat.

  • That vet should get shot by a tranquilizer until the viet dies. Anyways, how did Toto died?

  • @Icethunderstar Did Honey or Toto die first cos it would have been hard to live without each other, you could see how much they loved each other :'(

    Breaks my heart </3

  • @CatherineJB7 Read the description. A vet shot Honey with a tranquilizer to death.

  • @CatherineJB7 They also said that Toto died too, but never say how, that's why I'm asking.

  • :"(

  • I believe... i am crying.

  • how did the lil guy die???

  • Discovery Channel in Belgium is broadcasting Big Cat episodes with Honey and her 3 cubs. It was a shock to read about her death online. I had hoped she'd still be alive and well. So sad, she was the most beautiful cat on the show.

  • So sad. I really thought the little guy had made it. I never saw the Goodbye on TV. He will be missed.

  • i remember this!!! I loved toto and Honey! :'(

    I will always miss them!

  • There is word out that the BBC will be possibly filming Big Cat Diary summer 2011, both Jonathan and Simon have stated so on their forums. It's nice to hear this!

  • Honey and Toto are together again in the Big Savannah up in the sky...as Jackson Looseyia would say it.

  • u no we're the only ones who r killing the environment, and no it

animals kill the environment but they don't no

and we do nothing about it

    thats sad

RIP TOTO MY FAVURITE CHEETAH EVER!

  • i cried poor lil toto n honey:(:(;O

  • I remember this; it was so sad! Toto and Honey were my favorite cheetahs in BCD. Rest in peace, both of you

  • its so cute the baby has like a determined face ecery time i see it or is it just me?

  • i just hate to see cheetahs die it is a horriable thing to see

  • this video almost made me cry...i had to hold it in...so no one would ? me

  • Get the facts straight. That was no accident, Honey was MURDERED.

    1) Any 1st year vet knows never to dart "anything" in a vital organ, like a liver, which is where Honey was darted.

    2) Honey did not need to be darted, as her injured Cub could have been retrieved without a dart to Honey.

    3) Honey immediately showed signs of distressed that could have been cured. Instead the vet left for lunch. Just long enough for Honey to die.

    MURDER, MURDER, MURDER...

    and we all know why...

  • what do u think is the reason she was murdered?

  • B/c the BBC 50-man crew takes away valuable resources and time from the Kenya tourist industry, especially during the seasonal migration. Which is exactly why the BBC crew has announced that it will no longer film the "Big Cat Series" even though the series was one of the most successful series in BBC history.

The "accidental" killing of honey was designed to send a message. "Go away" And that is exactly what BBC has done...

  • I've just found this wonderful tribute to Honey and Toto by the BBC, it's great. How I miss those two, but I've become quite a fan of BIg Cat Diary. I'm seeing reruns on Animal Planet and figure they will end shortly. As long as I've got online videos to watch, I'll be ok. Plan on getting a stuffed cheetah cub & lion cub for Christmas as a tribute. Have already ordered Jonathan's book. Hope to see more of BCD next year!!

  • @SuperLadyKitty

Hi there. Do could you possibly direct me to where you found this tribute by the BBC?

  • Hi there! I'm glad I was able to log back onto here. I double-checked on YouTube: I typed in Big Cat Diary Honey and Toto tribute into the search engine and the video popped up. It's 4:13 minutes long and while the video is playing, the BBC logo is in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. It's a beautiful tribute to both cheetahs. Toto was really a small cheetah cub as Jonathan stated, it's no wonder everyone was so upset when Toto 'disappeared'.

  • Hi thanks for that. But I couldn't find this video. I found one which was 4:31 and the background music was In the Arms of the Angel by Sarah McLaughlin. There was no BBC logo on the top left though. Was that the video?

  • Hi again.....the video is Farewell Honey and Toto (A Tribute) and there's a combo of still photos as well as actual footage...the BBC logo isn't shown the entire time, just a little at the beginning. I love towards the end when Honey and Toto are shown just walking along, and I think, Jonathan's jeep slowly drives by, that's a portion when you see the BBC logo in the upper left. The video w/Sarah McLaughlin's is beautiful too. How sad that both Honey and Toto are gone.

  • Yes they are both wonderful tributes. I was shocked when I found out when Honey died, and I was so sad for little Toto. Sometimes, I watch the reruns, and I see Honey and little Toto and I feel sad all over again. But they are in the big Savannah up in the sky now...

  • oh yea its natural getting shot is the most unactural thing and i cried so much and i loved them both

  • That was truly a good video. Even if Honey and Toto didn't make it. Very sad to find out the hard way. Wish I had the DVD of the show.

  • I still watch old video clips of Honey and Toto together. They are absolutely beautiful animals and it is evident that they loved and needed each other. And everytime I watch this video I still get teary eye.

  • I was sad when Toto didn't make it, but it's rare for cheetah cubs - or any young in that harsh enviornment - to survive, so it was to be expected. Honey on the other hand, I cried my eyes out when I heard she died because it was not through natural selection, but a simple human mistake...I remember watching Honey in the 90s when she first appeared on camera. Such a sad ending to a great cat

  • Well, I guess the early 2000s. Amber was the late 90s cheetah I loved

  • @LynnDot i feel so bad tht honey and toto died dont u feel the same

  • You made this before my birthday, every time I see of video about Toto&Honey it makes me cry so I run to the bathroom to hide the tears away from my family

  • Advert,

    Not cruel, just real.

All babies are tiny when they're born.

    That's just life.

    Some survive, others don't.

All cheetas are solitary. So the mother is always alone to raise her cubs.

    It's not bad, just nature.

We're all better off to know and deal with this.

  • May I ask a question ?

Is it the fact that the baby cheeta looks like a kitten and the mother cheeta looks like a cat that makes you, Feel ", the way that you seem to ?

What about the baby gazelle or the baby baboon or the baby crock ?

    Don't they rate ?

Is it the fact that the BBC has included sad music and a sympathetic emotional guy that sways you ?

This is, simply, nature. It goes on all the time.

Get outdoors, fish, hunt, hike, and observe and you'll see and, " feel ", differently

  • Your comment is so cruel. People feel for the baby cheetah because he's just a tiny little baby. Isn't it a natural feeling that people feel for the weak? On top of that people can relate to the reality and also feel for how hard it is for a single mom to raise the one and only cub.

  • AdvertChild98

This guy only knows how to make cruel comments. He would be the one hunting them.

  • One of the reason we feel sad for Honey and Toto, is that a lot of us watched BBC and got emotional attached to the "characters". And it is natural to feel sad when someone as innocent and determined as Toto and Honey dies in this fashion. It's just the way we are built. And please don't be patronizing. Just because we feel sorry for certain events occurring in nature doesn't mean we don't know nature is tough. We know it's the way things are. But Honey's death was not natural, and we do mourn.

  • R.i.p Honey ;(

  • * sob sob* toto and honey didn't deserve 2 die... :'(... (i literaly cried for 1 whole day, i cry everytime when i watch a video about farewell to toto and honey... sob sob...

  • I actually just discovered Toto while looking through youtube for vids of cheetahs(my fav animal) and I fell in love right away but I was so sad to learn that he did not make it. If you could let me know where you got many of these pictures of Toto and Honey it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

  • i searched big cat week toto on google and on the BBC website BigCat and theres the whole timeline of honeys life and totos etc. this is where i foud all these photos of toto

  • @Stephaniek236

Dear Stephanniek, please explain why Cheetah's have that tear mark running down their eyes. They all have it. You must know the purpose of it.

    Thanks.

  • @signupsigma I have no idea why Cheetah's have the tear mark, I'm not sure what gave the impression that I did. Sorry I couldn't answer your question though.

  • @signupsigma its to get the sun out of their eyes

  • @Stephaniek236 same damn reaction. cheetahs are not my fave animal but one of my fave big cats =)

  • @Stephaniek236 Hi the pics r probaly on the internet if u look up toto from big cat diary =) rip honey

  • I love big cat week, and cats have a very special place in my heart but cheetahs are special to me more so any any other.I so wanted toto to go against the odds and grow into the most beautiful cat which he was but it wasnt ment to be,i dont think anybody realised what he would do to so many hearts its amazing he was amazing. And poor honey that should never of been her way out of the world she was such a great mother, and to will never realise how many hearts she captured.I cant help but cry,Rip.

  • Lets just pray they really do move to a better place. Even if their isn't then we'll build them one somewhere in that great unknown part of the universe right... :_-{

  • *nods* we can only hope... your words were so sincere i just felt like crying then. thank you for watching ^^

  • Comment removed

  • @PhycoDreamer i pray too that toto and his mother are safe in their new home. sure they are dead but they will still be alive in out hearts forever

  • @rayrhinohair Very true. Personal Note: Become Zillionaire and make every animal live carefree lives, while also keeping their natural instincts intact, while simultaneously going into new ways to make the language and understanding barrier deteriorate.

  • life is so unfair.. rip honey and little toto x

  • I love all animals and have always been a cat lover, and of all the big cats I cant help but a have soft spot for cheetahs. There so fragile and cant afford to suffer injuries of any kind, and the fact that only 5 per cent of cheetah cubs survive is just heart breaking. You cant help but me moved by the struggle for survival every day of these beautiful animals.

  • i understand how u feel i can't tell how grateful i am to u, as you understand my passion for these beautiful animals and what their hardships are and how each day they struggle so hard to survive. I was heartbroken when i found that Honey died, but now there is hope for the Mara as Shakira a new cheetah I saw on Safari in the Masai was pregnante and she gave the world 5 little bundles of joy, 5 little cheetahs and all are alive still. We can hope Shakira will raise them so they will survive

  • Oh dear, I'm tearful again. Is there anything wrong with me?

It's the way Toto disappeared and how Honey got killed...it makes me cry.

  • yeps, he is happy, he wont come axcross anymore danger now, so im happy for him hes found peace with his mum. Honey. we love u cheetahs

  • i niss toto :( so cute and young ang so happy. rest in peace lil fella. :( :( :(

  • Oh dear, I am crying. Honey and Toto were so special. I was, and am still gutted Toto only lived for such a short time.

I love Cheetah... Toto and Honey, I so hope you are both happy together.

  • i know i cry when i see these two so happy together.... im sure the Big Cat team would be absolutely chuffed if they went on youtube and saw all these tribute videos to all the cats they have followed over the years

  • honey's cubs managed to stay alive (her boys.)

they were trying to see if shakirah was ready to mate.

  • Animals do love. Its not all instinct. There is serious love and care. Darwinists need to understand this.

  • Yes i know that and honey loved her cubs alot and she gave it her all to protect them even in one episode charging at a male lion when would have surely killed her she did that to protect her cubs, i dont think honey really did anything out of instict may be a few things but i think it was love she did it out of.

  • I agree. People always say oh no the cheetah just wants to pass on its genes like the animals thinks they must pass it on! Like they are robots or something. But i think its similar to the love Humans have. When we protect our children we dont think of the genes we must pass on rather out of love we must protect our blood.

  • The loss of Toto was more than enough, precious little one, but the death of Honey was rubbing salt in the wound. She just didn't deserve to go out like that.

  • i know i was extremely upset when toto hadnt been found and so i lived with that and then i went on safari, i saw beautiful honey with another male i was happyand yet sad for her, she tries so hard. and then when we left we recieved a few months later after the filiming in 2007 that she had been killed and shot from Govenors camp from our guide (that camp which the big cat team stay at)and it hurt so much... it was really horrible and i just couldnt believe it and i just couldnt accept it

  • I know, even today I look at that little face of pure innocence and I get very upset. How can one not care? There's something spiritual and divine about the cheetah. Their presence, ability to live in the now and their love for their little babies. Honey really loved that little guy and no one could convince me otherwise.

  • i knew that honey as soon as i saw her she was very special and she was, brave and all to the end, and yesterday my family was talking about her at dinner so i had to leave the room, i couldnt take it... not after i had made this... honey never deserved to be snuffed out like that.... she still had another 3-4 years on her life... i also loved amber...

  • Yes, Honey was perfect. I loved Amber as well. Honey deserved much better but human impact has really put cheetahs as well as other animals in a real pinch. Was there ever another creature cuter than Toto? I don't think so. What a little face. The thought of how he might have died is devastating. The last photo of him trying to make his way in a rain storm is so moving. He was giving it all he had.

  • Toto really did give his all to try and survive the oncoming terrors in his short little life, and I hope he has found his place in heaven and is at peace, and yes that very scene where he is battling and fighting bravely through that storm was so tearjearking *crying silently*

  • and i just wouldnt do or eat anything for a whole moth really metaphorically and i still leave a room when her name is mentioned or i cry silently, because she meant alot to me. i ve been with her ever since they started filming her in 2002 i knew straight away she was something special.

  • They're all special, life is sacred. I do agree that with some it seems there's an unspoken connection, a feeling of genuine love and admiration. Honey was so elegant, beautiful and her speed and ability to care for her young was unmatched.

  • its just painful too see how she and tot have fighted to survive and we kill her the humans i mean WTF!!!

  • its life out there and its harsh

  • Sorry about the reverse posting. Obviously I meant to say the death of Honey this way should NEVER have happened!!

  • i know

  • leave her out in the full sun while attending to one of her injured cubs should never have happened. I understand that Vet is still practicing, but not in the Mara. Mistakes happen, but this should have have. Rest in piece little Toto and Honey, you will never be forgotten.

  • Thank you for posting a very touching tribute. I last saw Honey in August 2006 (after Toto's death). Honey then had three male cubs. The bond between her and her family was undeniable. The tragic and STUPID death in February 2007 of Honey by the KWS Vet - darting her in a vital organ part of her body was horrible and to

  • I saw Honey as well when i went on safari just after the big cat team had left and she had a male on her heels, she was a beuatiful cat and that vet should be in training still i hope he realised that being a vet isnt what he was cut out for. he shouldn't be even precticing on a wild cheetah anyway.
