In the late 60's early 70's such a magic ship of albums that sailed crisscrossing the Atlantic, from England to the States and the States to England. What a glorious time to be young and turned onto music such as this.
Still such a beautiful song after all these years...always loved Steve Winwood from his days with Traffic and Blind Faith through his solo career...such an incredible talent...sometimes we underestimate how important and impressionable these fine young English lads were on our American rock n' roll history even to today....Long Live the Queen....an old hippie from Macon, GA.
Always loved this song. Love the dropped D tone. Steve your voice is still spot on, great job. Yeah, the spaced pair LDC's paints a nice sonic spread, love it. LDC's to me make an ac gtr sound beautifully full spectrum when you've got a solo ac gtr/voice piece....ditto on the crackle of the fire! MAGIC!
Nice. Also very instructive on 2 counts: great mic placement for acoustic guitar & vocal, and on how guitar performances should be filmed: ONE camera showing both fretting and strumming hands, no fancy edits or cutaways.
the more I listen to this, the more I feel for you, the more your passion, your loneliness, your soul touches me, deep deep deep inside. Thank you so much :)
I tuned my Yamaha down one whole step and dropped the low E to a D and it sounds just like his, minus the particular sound you get from a Martin of course. The timing of his playing is really amazing. He gets a feel going from the start and runs with it and used his guitar and voice to amazing ends. The balance is beautiful. I agree about his vocals being very, very good. After all these years, there is still hope. If this is the bar I am looking for a way UNDER it ;-)
Any more videos of Steve performing acoustic versions of his songs?

At 29 minutes there's a clip of Steve playing Dear Mr fantasy (looks like it's from the same 'session'). Only a few seconds though. Would love to hear the full version
This is my alltime favorite song. And this is my favorite recording.I like how the fire popped and Steve didn't flich 1 bit he was deep into the song. Perfect

Oh Lordy, Steve!
What a sweet version of this song, with the Martin in hand; and your vocals on this have never been better! I'm so glad I found this channel.
Caught the band at the House of Blues last time there. Great, great show!
Thanks for such a terrific and extensive songbook, and so happy that you and Eric are working together again too!
God bless!
