  • well i think style is really importnt in general, cus it seems evryone has their cryptonite look at turpin against sugar

  • Hajime no Ippo

  • Dempsey is fearless!!!

  • GRANDE ES LA FURIA PAMPERA!

  • @azaproc callate cocoliso

  • "the champion spars with a middleweight"....??? was that harry greb that dempsey was sparring with at 1:24?

  • is it disrespectful to say boxers of that era wouldnt even be successful in amateur boxing nowadays?

  • @XxGrandHustle06xX yes, because the matches back then were actually more dangerous. They let alot of stuff go and many boxers actually died fighting back then. No joke

  • @XxGrandHustle06xX apples and oranges. pro boxing back then was nothing like amateur boxing of any era. So i guess you're right though perhaps not in the sense you meant.

But the question you should be asking is could today's pros deal with the old timers in their environment where they had to fight scheduled 20 rounders, no neutral corner and opponents who all had way more experience than today's fighters plus an iron determination to win.

Guess you know where I stand.

  • @JohnnyFriendly Apples and Oranges to an extent, but not an unlimited one. Some aspects are merely different while some are, bluntly, the same and as such subject to the progress which around this era was exponential. The 20s (with Dempsey at the forefront) was still in the process of birthing the basic left hook (still not with fully modern technique), reflected in the archaic low right hand in the basic stance of fighters of the period. Louis for instance would decimate Jack.

  • @DavidByrne85 you think so? idk, cus, looking at itt, dempsey really was nothing special technique wise or in terms of tactics, but boooy was he a monster. this guy was from hell, thats the impression i get, from the way hes so determined, he just keeps boring in, [joe didnt like crowdersas well]

  • @bojack335 Determination & or styles can definitely decide a fight between guys who are pretty evenly matched but it wouldn't bridge the gap in skill between Louis & Dempsey, IMO. The game just developed too quickly over the next 20 years or so.

  • @XxGrandHustle06xX Not disrespectful, just wrong.

  • did dempsey really just fly out the ring after a solid punch and get back in like nothing happened? thats fuckin nuts!

  • very shitty technique--its like in film ROCKY, only in film there is no holding like there.

  • @martpast1 ha ha yea...boxings alot about crude war many many times.slugfest, adrenalized, murderous poundings

  • @martpast1 actually the technique is INCREDIBLE.watch the short straight lft hand body shots out of the clinch.its amazing,he decks a 220 lb tough guy with that short little body shot again and again.he does it again 5 inch shot,to the head and decks him...watch close and see.YOU DONT SEE THAT NOW.its real and truley a sophisticated technique.oldschool.perfect for a street fight too,if youre grabbed

  • @dempsey981 yes, something is ,but --where is defence ? shots from distance ? footwork?

  • @martpast1 try reading jacks book championship fighting, its in pdf free online.there youll see he was in fact a master boxer in everyway, the book is a definitive boxing manual.dont be mislead by highlights only that you see here on utube.defensively, jack was a master of bob weave shoulder roo, slip.hit on slip, blocking,.parry and his foot work was masterful.read the book, its ALL THERE,and free on line.this guy was far far from the dumbass slugger that you infer.cheers

  • @dempsey981 can you tell me where i can find them?

  • @bojack335 google championship fighting dempsey left jolt.that ought to get ya the online book then u can download it i guess.

  • @dempsey981 that your real name?

  • marciano firpo.. what a war that would have been.

  • why did you switch to korean? fuck you

  • everyone says that FIRPO should have won blah blah blah, he knocked an off balance dempsey out of the ring with more of a push than a punch...an awkward lousy overhand right. Dempsey dropped firpo about 9 times if the fight was a little more competative i'd look into it more but firpo st8 up got his shit rocked by dempsey here, A for effort but this fight wasn't as competitive as ppl think

  • What we dont see is that Depsey actually gets caught with the first punch Firpo throws (left hook) at 3.00. Dempsey get knocked down there but somewhow its cut out..

  • @connymat

Supposedly Jack sat down on his stool after the first round, his trainer/manager Doc Kearns poured a bucket of water on his head, and Jack said "What round was i knocked out in?"

He was famous for fighting while unconscious. Not a bad trick to have for a professional fighter.

I heard that the fight video was edited to give a more favorable impression of Dempsey's performance.

  • No, Dempsey won this one.

  • firpo wons

  • At least they aren't the disrespectful assbags that make up the majority of the boxers and/or MMA fighters today, who talk shit then either win and talk more shit, or lose, and yell,"I DIDN'T TAP OUT!" Look at that sportsmanship, helping him up after he won.... fuckers today would probably be shouting," TEABAG HIS ASS."

  • @7d3adlys1ns you get some boxers who are trash talkers but the majority of mma fighters talk a lot of shit. There's more sportsmanship in boxing

  • @7d3adlys1ns you so right man! The last guy that was helping his opponets up was Tyson.. After that we only got asshoules!!!

  • @7d3adlys1ns And?

  • Ono fo the most famous steals in boxing history. Dempsey was helped back to the ring and, the referee counted to 300!!! A shame!!

  • @thepulpo1 Well, the rules wasnt really followed as they should in those days..

  • what a crazy fight...firbo was down for 10 with the body shot...fight over, no but dempsey hit him, so he should have been DQ'd, then he should have been DQ'd for a few ppl helping him back in the ring...this has got 2 b the most controversial fight ever..TEX RICKARD WAS AS BAD IF NOT WORSE THAN DON KING

  • Imagine boxing in those times... priceless

  • Note how the film is cut at 5:08, the part that showed Dempsey being helped back into the ring by reporters. Tex Rickard's work, no doubt.

  • alot of these 1900's fighters don't even look like they know how to box....

  • Firpo had no technique, round robins all the way. Dempsey only falls out of the ring because he in fact did slip...what a brawl...

  • @MegaJohnson64 i must have my eyes closed when dempsey slips

  • this is real boxing A FCKING BRAWL!!!

  • Why is it called boxing then.

  • @drey27 yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.its rough,hard core,knock yer brains out fist fighting.

  • lol at 1:51

  • God why can't we have fighters like that these days? Straight across the ring to shake the other guys hand. That's class.

  • that boxer only had one eyebrow ..

  • How did it go from speaking English to Korean? What the shiet?

  • getting up the 5th time from the canvas, and throwing KO punches.. these guys were trying to kill eachother.. amazing stamina.

  • @EdgeStormcrow keep in mind that without a 3 knockdown rule there's a lot less reason to stand and take it instead of falling for a quick break.

  • @roastybeer I suppose so... But having the other guy being able to stand over you and pound your face as you're standing up doesn't really make a "break" worth it..

  • My Great-uncle was Luis Firpo, i have a handful of stories about him my grandfather told me while he was alive, but not many. My grandfather was was just a kid when this stuff was going on. But when the Firpo's donated his gloves the Smithsonian sent us and other immediate branches of my family a fairly large color copy of the George Bellows portrait of him knocking Dempsy out of the ring. its hanging in my dads office.

No family bias here, but i say Firpo shoulda won =)

    Dempseys great though

  • @1H0ur2kill you are argentine?

  • @tatengue107

No i was born in California, my whole family was originally Italian. My great-grandfather's parents moved to the states from italy sometimes in the late 1800's and my great-grandfathers cousin's family (luis was his cousin) moved to argentina. My great grandfather was an only child (odd i know back then it italy), but luis had a brother i believe who wrestled in the states a bit.

  • @1H0ur2kill ohhh ok, i´m argentine ;), firpo great, and bonavena too

  • he was much more time out than it shows here, this tape is cut

  • Great fight. It was like a fight from a Rocky movie. They say no real fight was ever so exciting, that what the Rocky movies showed was the highlights of the fights. But Dempsey- Firpo was an all-out slugfest all the way through.

  • That Firpo guy looks like Ivan Drago when he hits the speed bag.

  • watching jack fight a bigger dude reminds me of a great saying a boxer once told me..

'you cant grow muscles on your chin'

    ^^

  • he really won

    and with a fractured humerus!!!!!!!!

he was better than that M. Ali

  • firpo won the would win the fight!!!

that cheater of dempsey was between 14 and 17 seconds out of the ring, an he WAS HELP BY THE REPORTERS TO GET BACK IN THE RING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @robin4449 LOL. He was out for 14-17 seconds in slow motion. It was well under ten seconds. It's amazing how much a ref allowed in those days. Firpo went down 5 times in Round 1 and the ref didn't stop it.

  • @TheBronzeSkull he was more time out than it shows here,

  • @robin4449 not sure how your counting but it looks to me like it took about 3-4 seconds before he was back in unless your watching the slow motion replay

  • FIRPO THE BEST. El toro salvaje de las pampas!!!!

  • @corrientes01 +1 bro

  • Everybody has a plan until they get hit.

  • thank god its in chinese i wouldnt understand it otherwise

  • @rucula2 It's actually Korean.

  • I would how Dempsey would fair against Tyson? I would be rooting for Dempsey.

  • these guys had absolutely no technique todays fighters would kill them but still entertaining!!

  • Where can I download all these matches?

  • this fight was won by Luis Firpo, Dempsey was 14 seconds outside the ring ... injustice

  • @LuchoLH if you get knocked out of the ring you have 20 seconds to get back in

  • the people help dempsey to come back to the ring, when he fall out he lose....

  • This fight was the same night Mick knocked Giny Russel out of the ring.

  • @hbdywtk Rocky reference, ha! Classic...

  • old people kick ass

  • its more fun to watch like this. as long as the fighter can still stand and fight the referee wont stop the match. there is no 3 knock down rule

  • @YusefDeeb69 1. Well looks like you wouldn't have your boxing footage fill without them having made the media in the first place and 2. Their Korean

  • cuando Firpo cae...la velocidad de cuenta del árbitro no es la misma para cuando Dempsey cae fuera del ring..gringos maracos...

  • where's the footwork and the hands up for some d? wide hooks, wide punches, idk man this seems a little off to me man

  • where's the footwork and the hands up for some d?

  • I came here because of Twelve Angry Men.

  • If you want to talk tough, My mother's sister is Johnny Mae Young from Oklahoma, possibly the most dangerous woman of her time. He brothers taught her to wrestle when she was little so they could bet on her. When sixteen she went pro. She isn't big, and dont look stong, but is exremely aggressive and loaded with killer instinct. She liked to get rowdy and clean out bars, break taxi drivers arms, put a hammerlock the DA in Reno, in court when he dared her to. Look her up here on uTube.

  • I was a professional rodeo cowboy for years and once watched a friend jump out of an airplane in a potato field back of the arena because he was late to ride his bull. This guy, as far as I know, never lost a street fight in his life. and he had lots of them. I saw a big bronc rider knock three aggressive habitual winners out 1,2,3, with one body punch each. I saw it happen. And I knew other tough cowboys, that could not fight at all yet rode with broken bones. so, whose tuff?

  • I am 80 years old and have been a fight fan since I was young. I also love martial arts and any kind of self protection. As far as one man being tougher, you talk as if you were buying them by the trainload. Some men have always been tougher ( tougher being harder to hurt, etc.) and I have seen big healthy looking men knocked completely out by a simple left jabs, both with or without gloves, and I have known men who could not be knocked unconscious at all.

  • One of the biggest fights from the golden age of boxing. Glad to watch it, despite the added commentary. In his day he was as big star as anyother boxer & with good reason. He set records which still stand today & may never be broken+these records were set when boxers fought so often & with horsehair gloves & lenient refs. To anyone trying to compare Dempsey with any modern fighter consider this, if Ali fought in the interwar years he would have been finished before 30 & FUBAR, just a thought.

  • this is just street fighting what happend to the ole one two not just ass loads of haymakers

good lord that is one tough sob to take the four haymakers!

  • jack dempsey except maybe for iron mike was the most ferocious fighter ever

  • @MrBz123wee I think Jack was worse, or better, depending how u look at it than Mike. Mike scared & KOd a lot of good fighters but Dempsey caused some serious damage. Don't quote me but I recall an interview with Mike, who can be a surprisingly well-spoken & knowledgable guy, saying that Dempsey was more ferocious than himself. Impossible to compare fighters who fought in such different eras but both an awesome force in the ring, Marciano is similar & I love all 3 styles.

  • @DrMo249 your'e probably right dempsey was probably more ferocious but the rules were different back then

  • @DrMo249 Dempsey was Iron mike's idol growing up, dempsey was the blue print and tyson was the evolution, Tyson refurs to dempsey as a 'very vicious man' think about that for a minute...iron mike the baddest dood on the planet calls dempsey vicious hahaha if mike tyson says a man is ferocious or vicious they must be a killer

  • @Ricky42791 yes.thats the point.tysons take is spot on,Dempsey was a certified bad ass in a fight,a wrecking ball in a crouch.

  • @dempsey981 dempsey is my favorite fighter of all time, the ferocity on him was just non-parell. I mean this is a dood who lived by his fists growing up fighting in hobo camps and bars usually to eat! He was so small for a heavyweight too but the punching power on him could knock out a horse!

  • @Ricky42791 Writers at the time wrote of his "killer instinct".he actually was an extremely thoughtful, well disciplined, and trained fighter.read roger kahns book on him "A Flame Of Pure Fire",it will expand your view of jack.women loved jack btw,he married a movie star, and a show girl.he also bounced in a whore house,..ha ha this guy was more fascinating than you may know.he disliked fighting unless there was a buck in it,beat people up purely business like.first millionaire sportsman too.

  • @dempsey981 I have read it before i loved it, a flame of pure fire jack dempsey and the roaring twenties hahaha it was cool how they told about the first million dollar gate and how al capone offered to fix the second tunney fight haha or how he rode the rails like under the fucking train, how tough do you have to be to do that!?!

  • @Ricky42791 you are the only guy here i've seen who has bothered to read that excellent book.jack was a funny guy, when he wasnt rendering other people unconscious.he remarked on how he had walked 20 miles for a fight, near salt lake city,he was hungry and needed the money for food.jack said"a good fighter gets up even when he cant".He said there were times when he was a teenager fightin bars, that he was so badly beaten that he didnt want to get up from a knock down, but was so hungry he had to.

  • @dempsey981 Hahaha yup, they dont make em like that anymore, dempsey was surley a different breed. You've probably already read it but as an amatuer boxer I found 'Jack Dempseys Championship Fighting' to be a phenominal read. It's like a manual of jack explaining all the old time techniques. He suprisingly articulate and what looks like 'killer instinct' or wild fighting is really a whole bunch of practice and technique. I'd highly reccomend it

  • Jack Dempsey was Indeed Great

  • @unkownreaper121 ive read championship fighting twice actually, and agree thats its essential insite to full understanding of the Mauler.i train for general fitness dailey, and have tried some of his ideas related to power punching and they do work for anyone.the whirl, fallstep, power line concept are not obsolete in self defense at all.strike the dempsey way,and you will strike HARDER than average by far.yes as i commented in an earlier post dempsey was no fluke,he was superbly trained by Deforest

  • @dempsey981 you make a good point mate...i recently ordered jacks book called "a flame of pure fire" off amazon since im a big fan of him and would like to learn more...plus im a huge boxing fan and always watch live fights and have loads of books etc...along with posting on boxing scene where i learned alot about the sport...plus check out my tribute video on my page

  • @unkownreaper121 i would enjoy seeing your video on jack, how can i find it?

  • nice korea ruins internet

  • dempsey proves his resolve in this fight.attack geat but defence poor, against the rock marcaino may have edge as both rely upon leverage, and the rock is shorter

  • This fight proves Dempseys resolve and great attack but very poor defence. Against the rock it would be interesting but both boxers rely upon leverage so edge may go to marciano.

  • up until the early 1900s 75 rounds where the3 standard championship fight, far more than the 15 today,...also this "newsell" was made long afte the fight, asthere as no "soundies" until 1930-31 for news reels. this fight was 1923, so all sounds are added.

  • 75 rounds where standard up an into the early 1900s. 75 3 minute rounds! JOhn L sullivan often drank quarts of brandy and ate whole roasted chickens will in his corner! a different type of man back then, really can't compare at all, the whole sport was very different..75 rounds ! even in 1909 jack johnson was going 75 rounds!

  • @ejdiii333 my sources RING MAGAZINE,indicate these were not all 3 minute rounds, thats crazy, not to mention impossible.a round ended when one fighter went down,or went down on one knee.now i dont have all the specific rules.these rounds were often short, and ended according to various rules including those i mentioned

  • Dempsey seemed to show good sportsmanship, too. And what a punch, against much heavier men. Dude was a force. From my home state of Colorado -- woot! woot!

  • My father always told me that Dempsey was the greatest heavyweight ever. After watching his videos, and reading about his fights and his brutality in the ring, I have to agree with the Old Boy. Dad was right!

  • @mcjack819 - Father knows best !

  • They were really a different breed back then, dempsey was one of the most vicious champions the world had ever known. This is when boxing was boxing, i'd take Jack Dempsey over prettyboy floyd any day of the week.

  • In the old days like this, there are always spectacular and superbly memorable fights like this! Dempsey has some of the most memorable matches in the history of boxing!

  • en el video no muestran que Dempsey estuvo 17 seg fuera del ring y los ayudaron a regresar al mismo, esa pelea a Firpo se le robaron descaradamente, tendria que haber ganado por KO.

  • unbelievable , dempsey would just slug any hw today imo, look in what shape theese guys are. eventho punching very wide etc, but they are coming in and giving a hard beating, this is what nobody does today because nobody can take a hard punch anymore, change of lifestyle i guess

  • Boxers back then were leaner, able to absorb more punishment, and concentrated much more on cardio. Boxers today are bigger, faster, have better-developed lower bodies due to the modern emphasis on footwork, and concentrate much more on explosiveness.

It's not a matter of one group having a 'better' physique: Dempsy-era boxers were well-suited to Dempsey-era rules, and modern boxers are well-suited to modern rules. If the rules continue to change, fighters' bodies will change, too.

  • It's funny how people talk shit about the old fighters I've believe they were way more tougher Dempsey is the reason they started the neutral corners and not hitting a downed opponent.

  • fuckin chinaminh, i can't watch a retro fight without these rice burners talking

  • @YusefDeeb69 What's wrong with you, don't think it adds a nice international 'flavor' to the fight?

  • @YusefDeeb69 they're not chinese you moron - doesnt take a genius to work out they're korean -

  • i dont think dempsy would land a punch on a girl boxer of today. the technique back then was so horrible, even an amatuer could see their punches coming.

  • White Sulphur Springs!!!! I live near there!

  • They're holding and punching a lot. Boxing today doesn't look like this at all.

  • What a fight,what a champ he was,what a dynamo!!!....Thanks for posting!

  • I didn't know this fight took place in Japan

  • It didn't. It was in New York.

  • I just read the book of Martìn Kohan about this fight and it's great :)

  • Mickey Goldmill also knocked an oppnent out of the ring this same night. The only reason people didn't hear about it as much was because Mickey didn't have a manager.

  • @AntonBatey you ass....lol

  • @gqmighty lol

  • @AntonBatey wait...you mean it wasnt because dempsey was champ?

  • @gqmighty

No, it had *nothing* to do with that. It was because he had a manager.

  • Have you ever actually watched one of those "25 round" bouts from the turn of the 20th century? They were mind-numbingly slow paced. whole rounds of nothing but the occasional jab, posing, stalking and feinting. Hardly proof that they were in "better shape". By the way, contrary to popular belief, The longest Heavyweight championship fight in boxing history was the Johnson-Willard fight. It went 26 rounds, And there were practically zero punches thrown from round 15-20

  • props to firpo. The knockdown blows are hard to see but he definitely took a beating to begin this fight. Kept getting up, kept fighting back, finally threw that fucker out of the ring. Could score this fight either way.

  • As in the entire history of the box, where American boxers were helped. For Dempsey, a great fighter in this fight I miss you give him time to recover and continue the fight when the quies.

  • Como en toda la historia de los box, siempre los boxeadores norteamericanos fueron ayudados. A Dempsey, un gran boxeador, en esta pelea le falto que le dieran tiempo para recuperarse y seguir la pelea cuando el quiesiera.

  • In my opinion, this fight was the end of dempsey. He didn't fight in a title fight for 3 years and came back looking god awful. I've read just about everything there is on JD and never got a real good story of what happened to him, but like I said my opinion is that it was this fight. Psychologically, I think it destroyed him. Firpo not only beat him in reality, he beat him with a wild fighting style. Despite his reputation, Jack was all about skill and he just couldn't handle this loss.

  • @tmotleygoldstein your take is a bad guess and is not true.jack had alot goin on outside of boxing.the notion that a tuff bitch like dempsey was broken down mentally by firpo is patently absurd.as is evident here, jack completely demolished firpo.he got caught, hey its a top pro fight, these things happen.dempsey was harder mentally than physically, and if you,ve read as much as u say,u ought to know this.your analysis is wrong flat out,and is demeaning to a fearless pugilist like dempsey.

  • Marciano was better.

  • Read, "The Arc of Boxing: The Rise and Decline of the Sweet Science" for comparison of the golden age of boxers to today's watered down form of boxers.

  • @shogunshogun I've never read that book, but if what you see in this video is your idea of the sweet science of boxing, you should come see some of the schoolyard fights I have to break up at recess between the seventh graders at P.S 138. You'd think you were back in the golden age. Dempsey gets respect for being a pioneer, but you're nuts if you think he could compete, fighting like that today.

  • for hist time. dempsey had the most technic in boxing

  • Sure looked like a punch to me and to every other boxing expert I've ever ever talked to. These guys look like to amateurs. They telegraph their punches and throw their punches without leverage.. Yes, Dempsey was a legend for the 1920's. he was built up by the press of the day. They highly exaggerated his skills to please the public who for the most part never saw him fight in person or films.

  • NFL is Better than Boxing

  • @dennisrayso no

  • Luis Firpo was very comparable to Oscar Bonevena... same styles, more of a one-punch knockout artist than a accurate boxer... Bonavena gave Ali a good fight, all a one-punch slugger needs is that one punch to land...

  • The most interesting thing to me about this video isn't even who won or how they fight; it's at the end, when the referee ends the match and Dempsey goes back to help Firpo up. It really speaks to the spirit of athleticism in those times to see that; you don't see a lot of that kind of good sportsmanship anymore.

  • @MrPossessed yeah u do, stop sucking old people's dicks.

  • Firpo beat Dempsey. If thewriters at ringside wouldn't have pushed Dempsey back in the ring, which was illegal, dempsey would have been counted out. I watch these two stiffs fight and I have to laugh. look how Firpo throws his punches, he makes mistakes that even an amateur wouldn't make and he knocked Dempsey threw the ropes.

  • @hmldjr he really didn't punch him through the ropes he pushed him. The reason why this was the greatest fight is because it was an actual fight. No techniques or anything. They are just swinging away. Dempsey is a legend

  • yeah

  • My friend is jack dempsey's grandson. he fights just like Jack too.

  • @MightyMan61 wow cool, does he fight professionally? what's his name, i'd love to check him out on boxrec.

  • his grandson? he must be about 50

  • @MightyMan61 Can you get him to tells us some stories about his grandfather.

  • AS A fighter. What you don't see is what makes men great. When you fight someone then you realize how tough or weak they are. Can they take it do they have heart. these things you can't train or teach. Dempsey had that raw toughest. Do or die mentally that fears most men. Marciano was like that too. it is scary when your opponent seems unstoppable. My thoughts only.

  • true jack was extremely tough but he was also highly skilled,a complete student/scholar of boxing

  • @dkrz yes you are correct. the greatest fighters in history establish themselves early in a fight as an opponent that wont go down, run, or back off. they are dogs, animals, and they know only one way to fight. Marvelous Marvin Hagler once said, "When that bell rings and its me and you in there, you better hit me with that ring-post 'cause i aint goin NOwhere...."

  • @dkrz Dempsey frightened men sure.he swarmed hard hit hard.tuff, skilled and no quit attitude while hittin like hurricane will scare u if u have any sense at all.this guy would break your face hospitilize ya.Dempsey hit a guy in the body once and they had to resuscitate him,he stopped breathin, turned purple.jack admitted he thought he might have killed him and was scared.source:'Flame of pure fire'Dempsey bio,by roger kahn.

  • El 14 de septiembre de 1923 enfrentó a Jack Dempsey en la llamada pelea del siglo por el título mundial de peso completo. Si bien logró arrojar a Dempsey fuera del cuadrilátero por 17 segundos

  • now this is boxing

  • no english commentary...fo

  • The ref is a mess in this fight. He goes in and starts to break them, but doesn't, then gives up and moves away. He was afraid to get between them.

  • this si why dempsey is the bomb one of the best in-boxers of all time i try my best to mimick his style when i box and shadow box

  • @crognamax athletes today arent that good. they do it for show. unlike those times which is boxing is like a battle to the death between two fighters who will lose everything when they lose. unlike fighters today.

  • yea fighters like mayweather making fights boring running around the ring doing nothing! Bad for boxing! Pacquiao saves boxing

  • I love how the ref doesn't make whoever knocked down the other boxer go to the corner whilst doing the 10 count.

  • The neutral corner rule was not established at the time of this fight

  • Back in 1923, there was no neutral corner rule.

  • someones guna die in mma you fool you think getting kicked in the head deals less damage and they fight more often, i hate when idiots swear they know things

  • a modern fighter would stay down for the 10 count when they thought they had taken a ton of punishment.. These guys just dont stay down,, they get up and sometimes still land enough to put the other guys down..

  • I love Dempsey. He coined the term "Punch is King", and he showed how much he believed it. If you can find a rare copy of his book "championship fighting" pick it up it is great and ahead of its time. In boxing you should really hurt guys with punches, dempsey teaches the basics correctly in his great book. Kinda the same in the Grappling arts. you can wrestle and move great, but if you can't make the joints CRACKLE when you are doing a submission you are just a fancy dan.
